David Overton Summer is in full swing. There are car shows and cruise-ins every weekend. Pick you a place to go, clean up that beautiful corvette, ask your friends to go and have a blast. The rain has caused us to cancel some events but we still have plenty of good weather to come and enjoy our hobby. MACC Members, it is that time of year to start thinking about officer elections. I have had a great time as Vice President for four years and serving as President for the past year. It is time that I step aside and someone with new and exciting ideas become President. MACC is a great club because of its great members. If you would like to be nominated or have someone you would like to nominate for President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary please contact the nominating committee. We would like to announce the nominees at the July meeting. Nominating committee: Charlie Rauccio Jim Harris Willie Pollock Cathy Crapet Jeff Wittman David Overton 205-337-1431

The Thunder of A Thousand Horses Written by Larry Linley Residents of Pine Mountain in Springville heard the thundering herd of a thousand horses climbing up the Mountain last Wednesday. No, it wasn t the hooves of horses, but more than 1000 combined horse power of four Corvettes from the Mid Alabama Corvette Club, (MACC). The visit was twofold. The first was to express and show our support for Woody and Jonathan Everett and secondly was to support and encourage Jonathan to restore his recently purchased older Corvette to its original condition. This visit from MACC actually began last month in Gadsden at the First Friday Cruise In. Members of MACC were there with cars on display and Jonathan and his dad were drawn to our cars. Following Woody and Jonathan s story of their recent purchase of a Corvette, we all became instant friends. The purchase of the car is a father and son project. While Jonathan isn t quite ready to drive the car, his dad is certain to make the car 100% road ready when Jonathan is ready. As a member of the Mid Alabama Corvette Club in Birmingham we are always encouraging Corvette owners to rebuild their cars as original as possible. In addition to a Corvette rebuild, our club prides itself in being family oriented. With that being said, MACC members decided to visit Jonathan and his dad with several Corvettes in a demonstration of our support. The MACC members were Hoke Graham of Odenville, Mike Jones of Clay, Ken Williamson and myself of Springville. Arrangements were made with Woody prior to our surprise visit. Four corvettes, dressed in yellow, black silver and white arrived with thunder. Upon arrival, Jonathan and his dad met us as we pulled into their drive. The excitement was overwhelming from Jonathan and I must say that Woody was as excited as his son. The cameras rolled as each car rolled into its parked position. Jonathan was almost too excited to bring his car around the drive to align with ours, but he managed to do so. We, members were very pleased with what had been accomplished on the car since purchase. Each detail of completion was explained to us in detail from rat s nests to bird droppings and destroyed wires throughout the engine. Thus far the completed work is proof this Corvette has found a home, a good home. It certainly seems that soon atop Pine Mountain another thunder of hundreds of horses will be heard, compliments of Jonathan and Woody You go guys..
