Introduction: Know what you re constructing. When It comes to our Big Ridge Kitchens, almost every layout is different: that s what makes them special. Whether you are DIY newcomer or veteran, the feeling of knowing what you have was built right because it was built by you, can never taste sweeter. However, in order to grant yourself this satisfaction, it is important to know your custom design inside and out. Whether your design is as simple as a Dakota style or as mind-boggling as a Monterrey, you must have a clear and final image in your head in order to find that dream kitchen you would like to create. This process not only involves knowing the scematics inside and out, but also knowing the area in which you are building. You should have plenty of space to work and keep comfortable; this will not only benefit your well being, but also anyone who you may hire to help add stone or finish to your kitchen. Lastly, you should study all steps of the assembly of the kitchen modules which are explained in this manual. Not only will this help the assembly process go smoother, but if any minor issues arise in the lifespan of your kitchen, you will have a well-founded understanding of how your module is constructed, which will better your understanding of the issue. In this instruction example we will use a 48 Grill Module. Congratulations on your new outdoor kitchen, Big Ridge Outdoor Kitchens Staff

Introduction: Tools and Hardware Hardware we ll send you: Hardware you will need: Self-tapping Screws Drill or Screwdriver Standard Screws Safety Glasses Bolts, nuts and washers Clamp (Non-appliance modules only) Cement Board Screws Gloves For your safety, please use caution when handling the steel. Edges will be sharp!

Step 1: Oraganizing your parts Typically, you will find these parts for each module in your Kitchen Set: (Figure 1) All Modules 1. Rapid Panel without Wonderboard 2. Rapid Panel with Wonderboard (1, 2 will come in sets of 3-5 Panels) Modules with Appliances 3. Loose stud with side support 4. Loose stud without side support (3, 4 will come in sets of 2-4 studs) First, lay out your pieces the way they will be assembled. If this module is interior to the kitchen (if it is surrounded by other modules) then it will only have 2 panels with Wonderboard which will be your front and back panels. If your module has a bar or backsplash then one Wonderboard panel will be twice as thick as the other (Figure 2). Panel bottoms wil have a 1 composite foot; face these towards the center. The loose studs with side supports will be placed in the middle of the Rapid Panels since they will be supporting appliances and will be installed last on the top of the module. Studs with supports will be placed pointing back to front. While being assembled in our shop, Big Ridge Staff will label each component with a numerical Module name, a side name (right, left, front or back), and an attachment letter. If you are assembling multiple modules, seperate each module. As you lay out each module, pay careful attention to the attachment letters. In the following steps, you will back attaching each of these components by matching the attachment letters together.

Step 2: Attatching the Rapid Panels Figure 3 Next, turn the backside Rapid Panel vertical, allowing its visible studs to point towards where the middle of the module will be. Stand on this side of the panel as you lift one of the two sides vertical. These two panels will attactch with a pre-attatched/ pre-squared triangular shaped bracket (Figure 3). Attach these panels together at the bracket. (Figure 4) *NOTE- Do not thread the screws through the manufactured screw holes. Instead go through the smaller secondary holes drilled by us at Big Ridge for a tighter fit. Continually, screw up the studs that meet between these two panels through the 4 pre-drilled screw holes (Figure 5). Repeat these steps for the opposite side of the back panel (Figure 6). Figure 5 Figure 4 Figure 6

Step 2: Attatching the Rapid Panels (Continued) Take the front Rapid Panel and turn it vertical, meeting it up with the other three attatched panels (Figure 7). Next, screw 4 screws on each side, through both the side and front panel studs in the pre-drilled holes (in just the same fashion you did for the back panel). (Figure 8- left side and right side) If your module has no appliance then please move to page 9 for further instruction. If your module has an appliance please move to page 7 for further instruction. Figure 7 Figure 8- Left Figure 8- Right

Assembling an Appliance Module Step 3: Attatching Appliance Supports Appliance supports will generally come in groups of 2-4 studs. These studs have 2 types: bracketed and unbracketed. The unbracketed studs typically fit into the brackets attatched to the bracketed studs. The purpose of our appliance Figure 10 supports is to give a sturdy base for your countertop and your appliances to rest on. These supports hold the counter and your appliance will rest on top of the now supported counter. Although nearly all appliance supports are different, their installation concepts are nearly identical. For our example grill module we will have two bracketed studs that will come from the back to the front. These two bracketed studs will come with all burner or grill modules. Appliance modules will have a special bracket that will hold the bracketed studs from front to back (Figure 10). In order to have a countertop that sits flat and level, the installer must ensure that the studs sit level or slightly under level. Lack of leveling will result in high spots that will cause a counterop to crack and potentially fail. Figure 10 In order to keep studs from creating high points, bend them in slightly as to reduce their size to level or slightly below level when installed into the back to front brackets. See Figure 11. Slightly bend stud inward. Figure 11

Assembling an Appliance Module Step 3: Attatching Appliance Supports (Continued) To install the appliance supports, gently tap the Bracketed studs into the Panel brackets with your hand or a light mallet until they will move no more. Be certain that the attatchment letters match as you place each stud. Screw the studs into place with self-driving screws and bend as needed. On the open side of the stud, screw into the small lip of the stud, securing your slight bends (Figure 12). Be sure the brackets on the stud face inward towards the opposite bracketed stud. Do this on both ends of the stud and the left and right side of the module. Figure 12 Lastly, tap in the unbracketed stud between the two bracketed studs. Be certain that the open side of the stud faces towards the back of the module so that your appliance will fit smoothly into the mount. Screw into place and level. **NOTE: ALWAYS TEST FIT APPLIANCES PRIOR TO MAKING COUNTER TOPS OR PUTTING ON FINISH MATERIALS. ADJUST- MENETS MAY BE NECESSARY. CALL US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND WE WILL WALK YOU THROUGH IT.

Assembling a non-appliance Module Step 3: Attatching Countertop Supports When installing a 24 or larger appliance, you will recieve 1-4 bracketed supporting studs as shown here in Figure 10. These studs will be used to support any countertop placed on the module. Each end Figure 10 will have an attatchment number so be certain these match the attatchment number of the installment area. In order to have a countertop that sits flat and level, the installer must ensure that the studs sit level or slightly under level. Lack of leveling will result in high spots that will cause a counterop to crack and potentially fail. Horizontal studs should be placed centered over each vertical stud in the front and back panels facing front to back. To keep studs level, clamp them into place. Studs should sit flush or slightly below flush in order to prevent countertop failure. Use the self-tapping screws to secure the stud into place (Figure 11). Repeat this on every bracket flap (4 per stud) on each stud. For every vertical stud on the backside of the module, there should be one counter supporting stud, 2 of which are pre-connected and welded to the left and right side panel (Figure 12). Your supported surface should appear as it does in the image to the right of this text. Figure 11 Figure 12

Step 4: Final Attatchments Flip the module onto its front panel to reveal the underside composite resting blocks (Figure 13). Figure 13 Take the standard screws and attatch the composite boards that are located in each corner to the front and back frames. This will reinforce the corners of the modules between each connection, ensuring they remain square (Figure 14). Figure 14 Congratulations on finishing your DIY kitchen module from Big Ridge Outdoor Kitchens. Thank you for purchasing from us.

Assembling the Kitchen: Attatching Modules Connecting your modules together is a fairly simple task. In your order you should have recieved a set of bolts, nuts, and washers. On the side panels where your modules meet, you will see four bolt holes near the studs and arranged close to the corners of the side panel (Figure 15). Figure 15 Thread the 1/4 bolts through the (4) predrilled holes. Then place the washer and nut on the bolt and tighten. That s it, you are ready to finish your new outdoor kitchen.
