INITIAL PREPARATION BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Ensure you hve the pproprite length nd hnding of strgl for your door. Remove the trim strip nd screw pck from the strgl ody nd set side. If tpe is present on the ck of the strgl, peel off the cking. Confirm thickness of your door pnel. For door pnels with thicknesses of 1-11/16", pply the ville B-sel gsket to ccommodte the gp etween the fce of the pnel nd the strgl. Lip should e snug ginst pnel. If present, peel tpe cking. Align the strgl ody flush with the end of the inctive door pnel, with the wide side of the strgl correctly oriented sed on swing of the door. For Inswing doors: Wide side of strgl goes on outside of the door. For Outswing doors: Wide side of strgl goes on inside of the door.. Press strgl down long the length of the pnel. Three ornge securing pins will pop up - two on the upper olt nd one on the lower olt. Do not remove pins t this time.! If present, ensure cking of tpe is removed efore pressing down. 2
STEP 2: SECURE ASTRAGAL TO DOOR PANEL Plese refer Product Reference Guide on Pge 1 to identify different components of the strgl. For Step 2, only tighten screws until flush with mting surfces. Keeping the ornge securing pins in plce on the upper olt, secure two #8 x 1-5/8" screws in the holes djcent to the pins.. Next, replce the ornge securing pins with two #8 x 1-5/8" screws. c. Keeping the ornge pins in plce on the lower olt, secure #8 x 1-5/8" screw in the hole djcent to the pin. Lower Bolt Shown d e X 4 d. Replce the ornge securing pin with #8 x 1-5/8"screw. e. Locte four screw holes on the inside of the strgl ody. Insert four #8 x 1" screws into these holes to secure the strgl to the door pnel. 3
STEP 3: CONFIRM PUSH BUTTON OPERATION Upper Bolt shown Upper Bolt shown Screws to loosen Finger Grip Push Button. Press the push utton on the upper nd lower olts to ensure the olt pin is properly engged. STEP 4: SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP Before you instll: Ensure the upper nd lower olts re in the retrcted position. Ensure the seling fin on the trim is on the side closest to the wetherstrip. Seling Fin on Trim Strip Wetherstrip (gry to show contrst). Retrct the olt y pulling the finger grip ck. If retrcting the olt is tight on the upper olt, loosen the screws on the upper olt sleeve. OVERVIEW OF TRIM STRIP INSTALLATION 2. Align Cutouts 3. Cut trim strip to size X 1. Mesure X nd Y To instll: 1. Mesure nd note the distnce from the dedolt crossore to the top of the strgl (X) nd the distnce from the ottom olt sleeve to the strike crossore (Y). 2. Align the D-shped cutout on the trim strip with the push uttons on the upper/ lower olt. 3. Cut the trim strip to fit etween ech component (See imge for detils.). Dedolt Crossore Strike Crossore Y 4
STEP 4 (CONT.): SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP UPPER TRIM STRIP: ALIGN CUT AND INSTALL (X -1-1/8")! The seling fin on the trim strip should e ligned closest to the wetherstrip for the est performnce.. Align the D-shped cutout on the trim with the push utton on the upper olt. If there is n overhng pst the top of the upper olt, cut the trim strip to fit flush with end of the strgl. LOWER TRIM STRIP:. Keeping the cutout ligned, mesure X-1-1/8" nd cut the trim strip. Instll sized trim strip into the strgl ody. MIDDLE TRIM STRIP: ALIGN CUT AND INSTALL CUT AND INSTALL c d e (Y -1-1/8") c. Align the D-shped cutout on the trim strip with the push utton on the lower olt. If there is n overhng with the lower olt sleeve, cut excess trim strip. d. Instll the sized trim strip on the lower hlf of the strgl with the seling fin on the side closest to the wetherstrip. e. Mesure the distnce etween the strike nd dedolt retiner. Cut the remining trim strip to mtch this length nd instll into the strgl. 5
STEP 5: INSTALL OPTIONAL SECURITY FLANGE (OUTSWING ONLY) Active Door Pnel. Position the security flnge on the ctive door pnel with the wide flnge fcing the outside of the house. Peel the tpe cking nd secure ginst the ctive pnel. Active Door Pnel. Insert the screws through the predrilled holes to secure the flnge snug ginst the fce of the ctive door pnel.
