Trimble Productivity: Take control of your site Trimble Site Positioning Systems

Unmatched jobsite performance The new Trimble Site Positioning System gives the contractor in site preparation, heavy highway, mining, landfill, and waste disposal the ability to quickly resolve problems onsite...and the flexibility to complete any task. When you need site measurement equipment that is productive, simple, easy to use, and delivers the functionality you need to get the job done every day, Trimble Site Positioning Systems are your best choice. Central to the system is your positioning sensor hardware. You can use either GPS or total stations. These can be combined with the Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software developed specifically for construction applications. With Trimble Site Positioning Systems, you will simplify your operations, increase your efficiency in the field, and minimize your downtime at every stage of the project. Trimble Site Positioning System Applications With Trimble Site Positioning Systems, you can perform a wide range of site positioning and measurement applications. Site foremen, supervisors, grade checkers and site engineers now have the tools to help run the machines on site, to reduce downtime and resolve issues as they arise without office assistance. SITE CONTROL OPERATIONS The Trimble Site Positioning System allows you to calibrate the jobsite for GPS operations, and to record existing and establish new control points in convenient locations for total station operation or daily GPS check shots. General site measurements Position and record the location of features onsite, such as power lines, utilities, manholes, pipe inverts and existing structures. Grade Checking Check both the finished grade and laid material thickness to get an instant report showing areas for rework and overall accuracy and consistency of grading operations. The Site Positioning System helps you identify gross errors, machine problems such as blade slop and wear or site calibration problems.

Choose Total Station or GPS Trimble offers a choice of total station or GPS for site measurement and stakeout. Here are some key factors to consider when deciding whether to use GPS or total station for your application requirements Factors Accuracy/Precision needs Safety and accessibility Single or multi-user operation Coverage area from a single setup location Total Station Accuracy <3mm (.12 in) With DR reflectorless capability, measure to dangerous and inaccessible surfaces from remote locations easily and safely. One instrument supports a single rover asset. Line of sight dependent, <800m robotic range for typical topo measurement and stakeout operations. GPS Accuracy <10mm (.39 in); 20mm (.78 in) A single GPS base station supports multiple GPS rovers or GPS machine control systems on the same jobsite. >3 mile (5km) range from base station for typical topo measurement and stakeout operations. With repeater radios or via use of cell phone communications longer ranges are possible. Ease of use and operator skill Easy-to-learn and use SCS900 interface eliminates the complexities associated with traditional surveying systems. The system is designed for use by supervisors, foremen, grade checkers and site engineers. Operating conditions Sensor calibration Ideal where line of sight to the sky is obscured or partially blocked by trees, buildings, structures, bridges or tunnels. Mechanical design needs routine periodic calibration and checks to deliver specified accuracies. Ideal for large, open site operation. Needs no routine calibration to deliver specified accuracies. Progress Volumes Measure your site or material stockpiles to create surface models for the computation of volumes. Volumes can be computed simply within a bounded area, or between two surfaces e.g. original ground and current or between current and finished design. Stakeout Use the Site Positioning System to accurately stake out points, lines, alignments, plane and surfaces. Navigate using the real time map, select the stakeout feature from the live map and display cut / fill to get to grade. As-Built Site Measurement Carry out as-built site measurements for client submission and approval at the end of the project. Produce high-quality reports and improve your reputation with the client.

Trimble Site Positioning Systems Total Stations The simple solution to site measurement and stakeout The Trimble SPS700 Construction Total Station builds on over 50 years of total station technology to deliver unmatched performance for construction jobsite applications. GPS and RTK Advantages Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite positioning system designed and operated by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS satellites broadcast radio signals with their position, precise timing and other information to GPS receivers on the ground. The GPS receiver uses the radio signals from several satellites to compute its exact location in three dimensions. Because it uses GPS satellite signals, the Trimble family of GPS receivers is well suited to work anywhere that has a clear line of sight to the sky. Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS delivers centimeter level (0.03 ft) accuracy even when you re on the move making it well suited to on vehicle or machine operations. RTK GPS technology can provide accurate positions at long distances from the base station, so most construction sites are covered from a single daily setup location. nd SPS880 Smart GPS AntennaS Smart GPS Antenna versus Modular GPS Receiver The Smart GPS Antenna concept gives you everything you need in one single unit. The GPS antenna, GPS receiver, radio, radio antenna, and battery are assembled in one housing, eliminating the need for cables or external components. This receiver system allows fast daily setups as a base station, and is your ideal configuration for rover systems mounted on a rod or supervisor vehicle. The Modular GPS Receiver concept provides the flexibility to configure your receiver system differently each day. Security is a key concern on larger, long-term projects. The modular receiver lets you leave the receiver and radio in the site trailer secured, while only the antennas are on the roof of the trailer exposed to the environment. The modular receiver can be used as either a base station or a rover, giving the contractor total fleet flexibility.
