SCBWI Midsouth Presents The 3 rd Annual Spring Retreat To: Writers-who-NEED-a-retreat.com From: midsouth.scwbi.org Date: April 10 th -12 th Subject: check out this brochure Dear Writers Who NEED a retreat, You are invited to attend the 3 rd annual spring retreat, held at Camp Loucon (8044 Annetta Rd. Leitchfield, KY 42754) and hosted by SCBWI Midsouth. If you ve attended in the past, we re changing a few things. 1. This is a middle grade/young adult retreat. In the past we ve included picture books, but this year, there is a new Midsouth retreat specifically for picture books writers. 2. There are two tracks for writers to choose from. Track-A is a seminar/workshop based on John Truby s book Anatomy of a Story. Track-B is writing only. I hope you ll peruse this brochure and decide to join us April 10 th -12 th. Come one. Come all. Track A- Seminar For $170.00 you receive: Please Note: $170 is the SCBWI member price. All non- members pay $220.00 THERE ARE ONLY TWENTY SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRACK. *Accommodations - Two nights in a camp hotel room to be shared with one other participant. Each room has two queen beds and a private bath. *Meals Friday Dinner- Sunday Lunch *Written Critique from an Agent/Editor Participants will email 10 pages and a one- page synopsis following the event on May 1 st Instructions will be given during the weekend. *Five intensive sessions Writers can be at any stage of writing: brainstorming, drafting, editing *Personal writing time *Copy of John Truby s Anatomy of a Story *Optional Zipline activity Track A is designed for writers who want an intense workshop and personal writing time. Courtney Stevens will be facilitating discussions on John Truby s book, Anatomy of a Story.

Track B- Writing For $150.00 you receive: Please Note: $150 is the SCBWI member price. All non- members pay $200.00 THERE ARE ONLY EIGHT SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRACK. *Accommodations - Two nights in a camp cottage. The small group of 8 will all sleep in Short Cottage, which has a common room and four private sleeping rooms. *Meals Friday Dinner- Sunday Lunch *Written Critique from an Agent/Editor Participants will email 10 pages and a one page synopsis following the event on May 1 st *Personal writing time *Optional Zipline activity Track B is designed for writers who need to get away for the weekend and power through some part of a manuscript without the distractions of a busy home & schedule. You can take full advantage of camp and writing time, and only show up for designated meal times.

Information about the Facility Camp Loucon is conveniently located in Central Kentucky about 40 minutes north of Bowling Green. It is a Camping and Retreat facility. It is NOT the Hilton. Expect rustic. But expect a lovely atmosphere. Housing arrangements are limited. Every participant in both tracks must have one roommate, which you can designate when you register. There is limited cell coverage for AT& T. Closed- toed shoes if you plan to zipline 6. Whatever you use to write- computer/paper/pens/ highlighters/- we will provide some power strips. 7. Flashlight 8. Clipboard 9. Handsoap 10. watch/clock camp is on CST but a tower near their often makes cell clocks ping between EST & CST.
