TEC key achievements in 2016 The TEC Brought together more than 40 experts to explore how to enhance south-south cooperation for adaptation techs Highlighted potential for South South cooperation to accelerate action on climate technology Selected key message The TEC invites Parties to explore potential opportunities offered by south-south cooperation to help countries implement their NAPs and NDCs Identified ways to scale up such efforts

TEC key achievements in 2016 Linkages between Technology Mechanism and Financial Mechanism In 2016, TEC, CTCN, GEF and GCF undertook consultations on linkages between Tech Mech and Financial Mech Including through workshop in May, where governments and observer organizations discussed ways to enhance linkages Outcomes of consultations contained in joint annual report Selected key message The TEC welcomes the increased engagement between the GCF and the CTC, especially the Readiness Programme and the Project Preparation Facility.

TEC key achievements in 2016 Technology needs assessment TEC worked with UNEP DTU (UDP) and other key stakeholders to develop guidance for preparing technology action plans (TAPs) This guidance will support developing countries to convert technology needs into action on the ground Selected key message The TEC recommends enhanced financial, technical and capacity building support for the implementation of TAPs and updating of TNAs

TEC responses to COP 21 mandates Linkages between the Technology Mechanism and the Financial Mechanism In-session workshop at SBSTA 44 and SBI 44 Key messages to COP 22 Climate technology research, development and demonstration Developed background papers and will undertake further work in 2017 Potential topics for future mitigation technical expert meetings Analysis of mitigation technologies as communicated by countries through three sources: TNAs, INDCs, and CTCN requests Read full reports and recommendations on TT:CLEAR

TEC stakeholder engagement In 2016 a wide range of technology stakeholders participated in TEC s work and contributed to its outcomes TEC collaborated with institutions such as CTCN, Adaptation Committee, GCF, GEF, SCF, and WIM Excom on loss and damage TEC would like to thank all institutions and stakeholders for engaging in its 2016 work. It looks forward to collaborating in 2017 and beyond

TEC in 2017 and beyond TEC will continue to support countries with climate technology policy issues Future areas of work include: Adaptation TNA Financing Mitigation Innovation Enabling environments Other - Further work on South-South cooperation - Methodology on monitoring TNA results - Updated PSP evaluation report - Thematic dialogue on industrial energy efficiency - Special event on innovation and NDCs - Mapping TNAs, NDCs and CTCN requests - Stakeholder engagement

Technology Executive Committee in 2016 Take away messages In 2016, TEC analyzed key policy issues related to technology development and transfer Developed key messages, recommendations and guidance to support countries in accelerating action Responded to COP 21 mandates on linkages between the Technology Mechanism and the Financial Mechanism and topics for future mitigation technical expert meetings In 2017, the TEC will increase its efforts to support Parties in accelerating climate technology development and transfer, and in implementing the Paris Agreement
