An Evening With Charlie Waite Presented by Whitchurch Photographic Society Tuesday 15th September 2015 7:30 pm Festival Drayton Centre Market Drayton Ticket Office 01630 654444 Ticket Price 12.50 Charlie is one of todays finest Landscape Photographers. Come and join him as he takes you on a journey through a selection of his inspiring images. Presented with great humour and anecdotal stories that will amuse and entertain. Now firmly established as one of the world s leading Landscape photographers. He was born in 1949 and worked in British Theatre and Television for the first ten years of his professional life. Throughout this period he became fascinated by theatrical lighting and design. Gradually the landscape and the way it can be revealed to us through light and shade stole him away from the acting profession. Over the last twenty-five years, he has lectured throughout the UK Europe and the US. He has held numerous one-man exhibitions in London and has exhibited twice in Tokyo. He has had a solo exhibition at the Centre for Photographic Art Carmel, California in

1999 and in April 2001 had a highly acclaimed one man show on Broadway in New York. In April and December of 2002, he enjoyed highly acclaimed exhibitions of his work at the OXO Gallery on the South Bank, London. Charlie Waite uses conventional fine grain transparency film. From this medium his images are drum scanned and printed as Giclée prints with light fast inks on fine art paper. Through this procedure he achieves the depth and detail in the image that he demands. His style is unique in that his photographs convey a spiritual quality of serenity and calm. He has established a worldwide reputation for his particular approach to his work. His photographs are held in private and corporate collections throughout the world. He is frequently to be seen on British television discussing the finer a s p e c t s o f L a n d s c a p e Photography. In September 2005, Waite completed filming for a six part Television series on Landscape Photography. He has worked with numerous distinguished authors including Adam Nicolson, Jan Morris, John Julius Norwich and A.N.Wilson. His book on the Landscape of Spain with text by the Duke of Wellington was highly acclaimed throughout the UK. The year 2003 saw the publication of Charlie Waite s twenty second book "In My Mind s Eye, his first book of black and white photography. The British press said recently of his best selling book The Making of Landscape Photographs that "Charlie Waite puts the soul back into the Literature of Landscape Photography".

2011 saw the publication of his twenty forth book Arc & Line. The Millennium year saw Charlie Waite being awarded the prestigious honorary fellowship to the British Institute of Professional Photographers and in early 2007 he was presented with Amateur Photography s Power of Photography award, which is given to a photographer whose work is deemed to effectively demonstrate the powerful and memorable images of which photography is capable. He is the owner and founder of Light and Land, Europe s leading photographic workshop and tour company. Light & Land run photographic tours, courses and workshops worldwide that are d e d i c a t e d t o i n s p i r i n g photographers and improving their photography. This is achieved with the help of a select team of specialist photographic leaders, all at the very top in their field. www.lightandland.co.uk. In 2007 Charlie launched Take a view, an annual nationwide photographic award ( now in it s fourth year ) to find the UK s Landscape Photographer of the Year, which ties in perfectly with his desire to share his passion and appreciation of the beauty of our surroundings through photography.
