When you re doing something you know you re supposed to do, what things make you want to give up? Ideas: when people make fun of you; when it s hard; when bad things happen; when things don t go your way; when you re tired, etc. 4. Discuss the welcome question: What s the hardest thing you ve ever done? 2. What s something you quit doing that you wish you hadn t? 3. How can you encourage someone else who is thinking about giving up? 4. What kind of blessings might we get when we don t give up doing what is good? Rewards from parents and leaders; rewards from God in heaven when we get there; new knowledge; respect, etc. 1. What s something good you can start doing this week? 2. Who will you encourage this week to just keep swimming and not give up? Say: Doing the right thing isn t always easy. But when we follow Jesus, He helps us keep doing what s good. Let s play a game to practice never giving up! 1. Kids lie on their bellies and pretend to swim. 2. Pick a kid to start the verse (printed on the back). They say the first word, then the kid next to them says the second word. 3. Continue swimming and saying the words of the verse until your group makes it to the end. 4. What is good about working as a team? You can use everyone s talents to succeed at something, instead of just your own. 2. What things do you think God can teach you when you work as a team? Ideas: trust; patience; humility; cooperation; love; forgiveness; etc. 3. Talk about a time you didn t like being on a team or in a group. 5. What would you tell Batman if he said he didn t want to be on a team? 1 set of Legos inside one resealable bag 4. Talk about a time you liked being on a team or in a group. Kids start their thumb wars with their puppets. 4. A kid wins a thumb war when he pins his opponent s thumb down for 5 seconds using only his thumb. Not sure what to pray? We have all done ugly, mean sins. 2. How can we be changed from sinful beasts to loving children of God? By choosing to follow Jesus and asking for His forgiveness 3. Ideas: it shows what God s love is like; they might learn about God and choose to follow Him; it helps you to get over being angry, it helps you to forgive, etc. 4. We share God s love through kind words and actions so other people, even our enemies, can choose to follow Jesus and be changed, too. Let s share our loving ideas with the beast and watch him change! What advice would you give to the elephant and the gorilla? Idea: God made you to sing! You need to do it, and He will help you. 4. What are some ways God might help us?
