CPSA Explore This! 15 2019 Online Exhibition Important Dates and Deadlines September 15, 2018 First day to submit entries at CaFÉ November 15, 2018 Deadline for entries January 15, 2019 Acceptance list posted at www.cpsa.org February 1, 2019 Awards revealed on CPSA website February 1, 2019, to January 31, 2020 Explore This! 15 online exhibition posted at www.cpsa.org Explore This! is a juried show with cash and product awards. Entries must be predominantly colored pencil, but also include other media or attributes that would make them ineligible for the CPSA International Exhibition. The accepted images appear in the June issue of the CPSA full-color news magazine, To The Point, which is available only to CPSA members. In addition, the top three prize winners are invited to ship their work for display at the next CPSA International Exhibition. The Story Behind Explore This! CPSA introduced the Explore This! exhibition in 2001 to encourage artists to explore using colored pencil with other media. The exhibition also allows three-dimensional structure, bas relief, collage, and other applications not eligible for entry in the CPSA International Exhibition. The first four Explore This! exhibitions were held in art galleries. Then, in 2009, Explore This! became an annual online exhibition so that artists would have an opportunity to present their work to a broader audience and increase exposure time, since each exhibition remains on the CPSA website for an entire year. Artist Eligibility Explore This! is open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. CPSA members and non-members are eligible to enter. CPSA members receive an entry discount, but do not receive preferential treatment for selection by or awards from the juror. Entry Fees Nonrefundable entry fee: CPSA members $15 (2019 membership year) Nonmembers $20 Awards Awards include a $2,000 cash award for Best of Show and EXPY Award, with lesser amounts and product awards given to other winners. Acceptance and Award Notifications Artists may enter two different pieces, but only one piece per artist may be accepted into the show. No notifications of acceptance are sent by CPSA. It is the responsibility of the artist to check the CPSA website (www.cpsa.org) after January 15, 2019, to learn of acceptance. However, award winners will be notified by email. Earning CPX Signature Status CPSA members may earn CPX signature status (the right to include the letters CPX after their name) by having their art appear in three CPSA Explore This! online exhibitions within ten years (starting no earlier than the first online exhibition in 2009). NOTE: Any lapse in CPSA membership results in loss of prior acceptances and forfeiture of CPX signature status. Exhibition or Technical Questions? Contact: Anda Chance, Exhibitions Director exhibitions@cpsa.org CPSA Explore This! 15 Prospectus Page 2 of 5
