NOTES: 1. Five pieces are cut from plastic canvas then embroidered and sewn together to make the
Catchall. 2. Embroidery is worked in simple stitches with a single strand of yarn. Follow the stitch guide for how to work the stitches and follow the charts for stitch placement and yarn color. 3. As you finish a row of embroidery, weave the yarn tail through the stitches on the back of the plastic canvas to secure it before cutting it. 4. Ribbon is sewn to the inside of the Catchall, to hide the wrong side of the embroidery. (23 x 18 cm) Long sides (cut 2) 9 in. x 1 3/4 in. (23 x 4 cm) Short sides (cut 2) 7 x 1 3/4 in. (18 x 4 cm)
Embroidery Note: On all pieces, leave the first and last thread of each row on the canvas unworked and skip the threads at the top and lower edge. Base With A and following chart, embroider right slanting stitches over 2 intersections of threads all the way around the outside edge of the base. Following chart, embroider cross stitch flowers and tent stitch stems. With A and following chart, embroider tent stitch to completely fill in the background of the base. Sides With A and following chart, embroider right slanting stitches over 2 intersections of threads along the lower edge of each side. Following the appropriate chart, embroider flowers and stems on each side just as you did on the base. With A and following chart, embroider tent stitch to completely fill in the background of each side. FINISHING Cut ribbon into 2 lengths each 9 1/2 in. (24 cm) for long sides and 2 lengths each 7 1/2 in. (19 cm) for short sides. At both ends of each ribbon length, press 1/4 in. (6.5 mm) to the wrong side. With sewing needle and thread, sew a ribbon length to wrong side of each side of Catchall. We found it
neatest to work small whipstitches around all 4 sides of each ribbon length. Assembly With B threaded into blunt needle, sew Catchall together as follows: 1. 2. With overcast stitch, sew lower edge of each side to the base. With cross stitches, sew ends of short and long sides together. With B threaded into blunt needle, embroider overcast stitch along the top edge of Catchall. Every effort has been made to have the knitting and crochet instructions accurate and complete.
