OUR HIS TO RY Speake-Marin is a Swiss watchmaking brand created in 2002. Since this date, the brand presents its creations which are a combination of know-how and excellence of Swiss watchmaking. Furthermore the Swiss brand possesses something unique: an English touch. There in, is found the quintessence of Speake-Marin. Behind this unique name, we can find the brands English roots. Native from England, Peter Speake-Marin went to Switzerland after qualifying as a horologist in London following which he deepened his knowledge at WOSTEP, Neuchatel. He pursued his career in London at Somlo Antiques in Piccadilly where he acquired his taste for antique watches through restoration. After seven years, he returned to Switzerland in 1996, and in 2002 he created his brand as an independent watchmaker. The story of Speake-Marin begins at this point! The first watch realized by Speake-Marin is a pocket watch with a tourbillon, the Foundation Watch. This watch is particularly important in the history of the brand because it carries all the important codes that we find even today through the existing collections, such as the Piccadilly case whose design is inspired by the original marine chronometers, but also through the fluted crown and the heat-blued steel hands which make Speake-Marin watches unique. 4 5
OUR KN OW HOW Swiss in the realisation till the end of their hands, but British in spirit: our timekeepers are discreet with a subtle touch of humour which appears through a hint of eccentricity: a movement that plays with time, an animation which catches your attention, a touch of colour which thwarts the conventional codes, a Piccadilly case with distinctive design. By the expression of this impertinence, the Swiss brand pays tribute in the British origins of its founder: Peter Speake-Marin. 6 7
In our atelier in la Chaux-de-Fond, the watchmakers of Speake-Marin build the movements and assemble the watches in a rigorous watchmaking tradition where know-how and excellence are the key words. Timekeepers with a timeless elegance realized in very limited editions. Exclusive watches which are unique from the design of the dials to the complexity of the movement. 8 9

OUR AM BAS SA DOR I met Peter on the set of a film in which he was a consultant for a character who was a watchmaker. We spoke briefly; we both love what we do, and myself as a lover of watches I appreciated his genuine passion and subsequent designs. I acquired one of his time-pieces and a dialogue ensued. OUR col lec tions Nowadays, timekeepers of Speake-Marin are presented in four collections. The Spirit collection for the sport watches. The collection J-Class gathers classic timekeepers, companions of the everyday life. The ladies watches, elegant by day and by night, come to light through the Shenandoah and finally the exceptional pieces in the Cabinet des Mystères. These last pieces carry in them stories and breathtaking mechanisms. 16 17
THE SPIRIT COL LEC TION The design of the Speake-Marin sport collection was motivated by early military and pilots watches to create original yet vintage inspired designs. Two models exist in this collection: the simple and refined Wing Commander and the Seafire with its Chronograph. A collection whose passionate motto of Speake- Marin «Fight, Love & Persevere» is engraved on the case-back of each watch. Since 2015, these two models bring a little colour to their dials parrying red, blue or orange and limited editions are punctually revealed for the pleasure of collectors 18 19

THE J- CLASS COL LEC TION 32 The J-Class watches are the most classical timekeeper of Speake-Marin. Classical indeed, but each piece possesses a detail, a touch of originality which makes of each model a watch of character. Elegant in its DNA, this collection will stand the test of time and keeps its youthful freshness for centuries. From the Resilience, inspired by the antique pocket watch, to the unique single hand Velsheda, the Serpent Calendar with its crazy hand or the multilevel London Chronograph, all the creations respect the major codes of Speake-Marin as its dial in enamel, the Piccadilly case, the blued-steel or the pleated crown. Furthermore, most of the models of the J-class collection are equipped with a Vaucher 3002 automatic movement, except the Magister Vertical Double Tourbillons, the London Chronograph realized with the historical Valjoux Caliber 92 and the new One & Two, highlight of the collection for 2017, with its in-house calibre SMA01. 33

This model for women bears the name of a river in Virginia, United States, which in Amerindian means the beautiful girl of the stars. It is a poetic name that bears witness to Speake-Marin s desire to pay tribute to women by moving away from existing Speake-Marin models, while preserving certain iconic codes of the brand such as the blue hands.
