Our know-how = your opportunity With over 90 years of experience in mechanical engineering MARTIN has become one of the leading manufacturers of sliding table saws, planers and spindle moulders for professional use. Our machines are produced according to the latest knowledge and standards and we are completely committed to future-oriented technologies. For decades the name MARTIN has not only stood for excellence in woodworking, but also for our expertise in machining plastics. In short, it s all about machining and finishing semi-finished products like panels, blocks, rods, tubes and other forms of thermo- and duroplastics. We are very proud to count among our customers, large international enterprises as well as small innovative businesses. For those companies that are engaged in craft trades and produce individual parts or medium size production series, the possibility of machining plastics on our machines may be of special interest. With our machines you can also process plastic material that cannot normally or only with great effort be processed by production methods like injection moulding, extrusion or blow moulding. At MARTIN you can find out everything you want to know about the following methods of machining: Sawing Moulding Profiling Planing MARTIN sets standards The MARTIN planer The MARTIN sliding table saw The MARTIN moulder Page 6 Page 8 Page 10 5
Planing and profiling plastics: The MARTIN planer The T45 thickness planer is perfectly suited to the modern processing of plastics. The main task of the T45 thickness planer is the precise machining of your materials surfaces. The key is not only to plane the workpiece to a predefined thickness, but also to establish a smooth surface finish. The cutting tool that is used always has a significant influence on the quality of the surface. The T45 s heavy vibration dampening composite machine frame along with the optimally balanced cutterhead, guarantee outstanding planing results. For over 25 years, MARTIN has relied on the TERSA solid steel cutterhead that is produced in-house at our plant in Germany. Thanks to the broad range of different materials and geometries that are used for the cutterhead, the operator can react flexibly and precisely to the different machining methods the workpiece requires. The traditional cutterblock as well as a special HELIX cutterblock are further options to this very flexible cutterblock style that is also available with special cutterhead hook angles. All cutterblocks can be ordered with variable speeds of up to 6000 rpm per minute. If you want to machine thin or even very thin workpieces securely and accurately, we suggest our vacuum machine table with the special planar ground surface. The vacuum table holds the workpiece in place, resulting in a snipe free finish. MARTIN offers two different inverter drives for the feed system with two different feed rate ranges depending on the material, tool hook angle and feed rate. The electronically controlled planing height adjustment that comes as standard consistently ensures perfectly machined workpieces. It can also be ordered with increments of 0.05 mm. These values are realistic and achievable as the thicknessing table is supported Perfectly set at the first attempt The TERSA system select between four different knife qualities The infinitely variable feed speed makes sure that surfaces are flawless The thickness can be set via controller with an accuracy of 0.05 mm The machine table s planar ground table surface prevents the bottom side of the workpiece from being scratched The vacuum table for thin and hard material Profiling up to a width of 630 mm T45 Thicknesser with accessories 6
by four weight absorbing supporting screws. Two large vee guides divert the shear forces into the solid compound machine base. At the same time the machine s vibration and sound-absorbing construction and modern industrial design ensure a comfortable, whisperquiet operation. The T45 Contour offers unique worldwide solutions for the safe profiling of surfaces in one pass. You can choose between the Contour 15 and the Contour 25 achieving a profile depth of 15.5 or 25 mm respectively. If no knives are inserted into the cutterhead knife pockets, the T45 Contour 15 turns into a straight thickness planer. With the T45 Contour profiles can be machined up to 630 mm, a process that normally requires more expensive special machinery. Preparing the surfaces of a workpiece by jointing is only one aspect of the T54. Additionally beveled edges can also be machined with high precision. Perfect end results can only be obtained with perfectly jointed material. The T54 offers the ideal conditions to create unequalled precision. The smooth-running fence with integrated auxiliary fence enables quick and precise jointing operations. The fence runs smoothly and without tilting on ball bearing guided courses as precise years later as on the first day of use. Chamfers can also be machined in a flash, because any angle between 90 und 45 can be set quickly with the manually operated controls. With the planar ground vacuum table very thin and flexible workpieces can be machined With the T45 Contour you can profile surfaces of up to a width of 630 mm Consider this - one machine both for profiling and planing T54 Surface planer with accessories 7
Cutting to length, straight-lining and formatting plastics: The MARTIN sliding table saws The MARTIN sliding table saw provides cutting-edge performance for the long term. Precise cutting, scoring and formatting as well as precise cutting of angle surfaces are the major features of a sliding table saw. Whenever it is not a simple 90 degree right angle cut, complex calculations have to be carried out to achieve accurate work results. The MARTIN touchscreen controller takes the work out of making these calculations. MARTIN offers machines that guide you even through the most complex tasks easily, quickly and accurately. In order to cut precisely, regardless of the selected saw blade, the controller works with a powerful tool conversion as well as numerous calculation aids. All electronically controlled axes work on the basis of the relevant tool dimension. Dimensional deviations that might come up when tasks are repeated are a thing of the past. The repeatable accuracy of the controlled settings ranges from ±0.05 mm or ±0.005. The MARTIN flagship saw, the T75 PreX, is the first saw worldwide that combines a cutting height of over 200 mm with a cutting angle of 2 x 46. This doubling of the angle cutting range to 92 opens up an unlimited number of new possibilities for machining plastics. Cuts that previously could not be performed on a sliding table saw or only with great effort are now possible without any complications on the T75 PreX. The T65 and T70 sliding table saws have a tilting range of 0 46. The optional RadioCompens angle cutting system reduces set-up times for angled cuts on a MARTIN saw by up to 80%. You simply set the mitre cross-cut table, which is connected to the controller via radio signal, to the desired cutting angle. The radio-controlled electronics take care of the rest. After setting the table angle, both digital displays show A powerful cut of up to 204 mm makes you flexible The most important information at a glance the modern touchscreen controller The T75 PreX s tilting range of 2 x 46 offers flexibility at the highest level Frequency drive for main saw blade variable between 2000 to 6000 rpm, safely adjustable in operation, passive cooling of inverter Tool data stored in tool database which ensures perfect accuracy Spraying device for unique applications. the adjusted cutting length for the mitre offset, reducing set up times to a minimum. A major step towards minimizing set up times is the Control angle cutting system that is available on the T70. With the electronically controlled cross-cut fence, motorized cross-cut stops and the parallelogram table that is connected to the controller via radio signal, you can calculate and cut angled surfaces, angled edges and also compound mitre cuts with full electronic support. The T70 and the T75 PreX can be optionally connected to an office computer which flexibly supports work preparation by transferring optimized cutting lists and whole plans to the machine by a simple mouse-click. Manufacturing faults are reduced towards zero. The motor s variable rotational speed adjustable from 2000 to 6000 rpm ensures that the cutting speed can be adjusted to the material being cut. With powerful motors ranging from 7.5 to 11 kw you can make use of the massive 204 mm cutting height. For precise bevel cuts, the saw blade is referenced with an accuracy of 0.01. With the spraying device for applying minimal amounts of coolant/ lubricant, even thick or difficult plastics can be cut easily. Several possibilities of clamping the workpiece such as the solid sectional pressure bar make sure that the workpiece is securely clamped and cuts are performed safely with the upmost precision. With the Radio Compens system set-up times for angle cuts are reduced by up to 80% Variable rotational speed for perfect cuts Spraying device cools and lubricates if necessary T75 PreX Sliding Table Saw with accessories 9
Rebating, chamfering and profiling plastics: The MARTIN spindle moulders Setting-up a tilting arbor spindle moulder with repeatable accuracy can be a major challenge. Not so for a MARTIN spindle moulder with its modern intuitive touchscreen controller. The list of work processes that can be performed on a MARTIN spindle moulder precisely and cost efficiently is almost endless. Thanks to the controller s integrated tool conversion, the operator can make efficient use of the wide tilting range (2 x 46 ), allowing them to set up even complex moulding patterns with a tilted spindle in a flash. No matter whether you work with the spindle tilted to the front or to the back, the controller prompts you in setting up the moulding process. Cutting height, cutting angle everything is structured in an obvious way for the operator. After activating the tool, the controller will indicate the location to reference the tool in relation to the table and fence jaws. This way set-up times that used to be very time-consuming can be performed rapidly a major step in the direction of more flexibility and efficiency for the operator. Depending on the machine and its equipment you can work with up to seven motorized and controlled axes. In addition to the cutting height and cutting angle, the cutting depth, the infeed jaw of the fence, the table opening and the height setting of the feed support can be adjusted by the controller. Up to 1000 tools and 1000 programs can be stored in the controller. A powerful search function as well as group and favourite functions assist the operator in selecting the needed profiles. With the proven MARTIN DornFix quickchange system you can change the arbor within minutes effortlessly, also allowing you to swap out for different arbor diameters. If you have to change tools and/or arbors frequently, you may opt for the HSK system where tools/ Also shank-type cutters can be integrated in the control State-of-the-art technology for quick and effective setups With the wide tilting range of 2 x 46 large workpieces can be machined effortlessly With the spindle s tilting range of 2 x 46 even large workpieces can be machined Tool data is stored in the tool data memory results are always accurate Up to seven axes can be controlled ensuring repeatable accuracy Controlled use of shank-type cutters in the spring collet 10 T12 Spindle moulder
arbors are pneumatically clamped. This system is especially suited for those who want to use their spindle moulder as an effective supplement to a CNC processing center. Depending on the machine type, the rotational speed (5 or 6 speeds) of the tools can be changed via a belt change. The optional variable rotational speed inverter of the tools facilitates the adjustment of the cutting speed to the material you want to machine. The rotational speeds range from 1000 to 12000 rpm, motor powers of up to 11 kw are available. When the quality of a machined surface is of concern, the ideal cutting speed and the secure and accurate positioning/guidance of the workpiece should be considered. The patented electrically -adjustable eccentric table rings can be variably adapted to the diameter of the tool directly in the program or by a single keystroke. With machines from other manufacturers this is not always an easy task especially when the spindle is tilted. With the motorized feed support the feed position can be adjusted quickly and accurately. And if you don t need the feed support you simply tilt it to the side without losing the previous settings. The motorized feed support considerably decreases set-up times The patented table rings are only available for MARTIN machines Setting up is done within seconds with the HSK option T27 FleX Tilting arbor spindle moulder with accessories 11
