Head Search Committee Members
Angie Jolie, Head Search Committee Co-Chair, CDS Trustee Angie has volunteered in many roles in her ten years as a CDS parent, most recently serving as Co-Chair for the CDS Opening Doors capital campaign, which raised more than $6 million to open our new middle school at 601 Dolores in the Spring of 2015. Originally from Chicago, Angie received her BA in sociology and Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Later she served as Assistant Director for Study Abroad at her alma mater, often representing the university in travels across the U.S. and overseas. Before relocating to San Francisco in 2005, Angie spent five years working in state government in Boston, serving as Staff Director for a Representative in the Massachusetts state legislature. While there she earned a Graduate Certificate from University of Massachusetts Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy. She and her husband Daniel are the parents of Sofia ( 19) and Joaquin ( 22). Tracy Kirkham, Head Search Committee Co-Chair, CDS Trustee, Alumni Parent Tracy, Chair Emeritus, Chair of the Board 2002-2008, is a lawyer specializing in business litigation, with an emphasis on complex multiparty cases and class actions. She and her husband Josef Cooper are partners in the San Francisco firm Cooper & Kirkham, P.C. Her eldest daughter Gillian ( 07) started preschool at CDS in 1994 at the age of two. Daughters Sydney ( 12) and Greer ( 12) Cooper joined their sister at CDS in 2000. Along with her husband, Tracy was instrumental in converting CDS from a privately-owned preschool to a non-profit elementary school. In 2001, she negotiated and documented the purchase of the school site from the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. In her free time, Tracy enjoys photography, skiing and scuba diving. Lindsay Woollerson, Head Search Committee Co-Chair, CDS Trustee Lindsay is a stay-at-home parent to Henry ( 25). Lindsay has a BA in Marine Biology from U.C. Santa Cruz and an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School. Prior to parenthood, Lindsay ran Green Business Programs for Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties. Lindsay serves as our PTTA President this year.
Terry Ashkinos, CDS Eighth Grade Teacher Terry, our Eighth Grade Homeroom & Middle School Humanities Teacher, was the middle school social studies and journalism teacher at Everett Middle School for six years before joining CDS in 2005. Prior to working at Everett, Terry was an ESL teacher in Los Angeles and Bratislava, Slovakia. He has a BA in philosophy and humanities from UC Santa Barbara and an MA in philosophy from San Francisco State University. Terry has been trained in the Responsive Classroom. He and his wife have two sons, Cash ( 17) and Catcher ( 23). Terry is an occasional writer of fiction as well as a local musician. Kristina Berman, CDS First Grade Teacher First Grade Hawks Teacher Kristina Berman received her MA in education and her multiple subject teaching credential from the University of California at Berkeley. She has a BA in history with a double minor in Spanish and education from the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining CDS in 2014, Kristina was the lead teacher for four years in kindergarten at Cherry Chase Elementary School in Sunnyvale, California. During her summers, Kristina serves as a site director for the Aim High summer program at The Urban School campus in San Francisco. She is proficient in Spanish. Richard Hylton, Alumni Parent, Former CDS Trustee Richard Hylton was a CDS parent for 11 years. During that time he served 7 years on the Board of Trustees. He was a founder of the Board s Committee on Inclusion and Diversity and was instrumental in finding and purchasing 601 Dolores. He is co-owner of H&O Properties, a real estate development company. Previously, he was an advisor to New York Stock Exchange CEO Dick Grasso, Associate Editor of Fortune Magazine, a staff writer at the New York Times and an editor of Black Enterprise Magazine. Richard received a B.A. in English from Columbia University, studied at Boston University and spent a year at the Sorbonne in Paris. He is the parent of Nora Hylton ( 16).
Diane Larrabee, CDS Director of Admissions Diane joined CDS in 2005. She has a BA in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley and a JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She was a commercial litigator for ten years before leaving the practice of law to pursue nonprofit interests. Diane has served as a trustee for several nonprofits, including Compass Family Services and Town School for Boys, where she chaired the diversity committee for four years. Jill Linwood, CDS Trustee Jill has more than 20 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations to meet their fundraising and organizational development goals, and with corporations to create community relations strategies. Jill s clients have included the Asia Foundation, Climate One at the Commonwealth Club, National Museum of Women in the Arts, the World Affairs Council, Ariba, Extreme Networks, National Mental Health Association, Travelocity and Verizon, amongst others. Jill also served as Director of Grants and Sponsorships at the Asian Art Museum for five years. Jill s volunteer commitments at CDS over the last nine years include service on the Advancement Committee, as an Admissions tour guide, and as a class liaison. She is a parent of Eli ( 19) and Sadie ( 22). Alicia Perdue, CDS Preschool Head Teacher Alicia is the Leaping Lizard Head Teacher and has been teaching at CDS since 1997. Alicia earned her BA in elementary education from Grand Canyon University. She has a child development master teacher permit with the State of California, is certified in the Project Approach, trained in the Responsive Classroom and in 2004 served as the early childhood representative for the California Association of Independent Schools Northern Professional Services Committee.
Liza Ramrayka, CDS Trustee Liza is a social justice journalist with 25 years of experience working for print and online media. A freelance features writer and commissioning editor for The Guardian, The Times and News Deeply, her specialisms include migration, equality and diversity. She is also an editorial consultant and media skills trainer. She holds a BA in English and French Literature & Language and a post-graduate diploma in journalism. At CDS, Liza has been a classroom liaison, event volunteer, admissions tour guide and was Annual Fund co-chair in 2015-2016 with her partner, Simon Rogers. Liza, Simon, Ella ( 18) and Jake ( 22) joined the CDS community from the UK in 2013. Michelle Schoen, CDS Trustee Michelle has been actively involved in the school, both inside and outside of the classroom. In 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, she co-chaired Fiesta. Additionally, her volunteer commitments over the last four years include serving as a classroom liaison and as a member of the PTTA and Advancement Committee. Michelle previously worked in leadership roles at a boutique communications strategy firm and a variety of technology companies in the Bay Area, including NetSuite, where she was responsible for marketing, communications and strategic partner programs. She and her husband, Kent, are the parents of Mia ( 21) and Kira ( 23).
