Page 2 The PTO Page! DECEMBER CEREAL DRIVE The Cougar Cause and the West Chester Food Cupboard Local food banks and cupboards have put out a call for boxes of cereal. This time of year cupboards get lots of donations of canned goods, but they are short on breakfast items. This becomes especially important when children are home for the winter break. Please consider placing a box or two of cereal (or other non-perishable breakfast items) in the blue bin in the Fugett front entrance. Any other items you can spare are also gratefully accepted. Thanks for your support! AmazonSmile lets you support the PTO with purchases you would make anyway. www.smile.amazon.com Use any existing Amazon account (even Prime!) but start your shopping through Amazon Smile. Simply sign in, and choose Fugett Middle School PTO as the organization to support. (You will only have to do this the first time.) We receive 0.5% of all eligible purchases. You can also use this direct link: http:// smile.amazon.com/ch/30-0673324 Mark your calendar! Wed., Jan. 17, 2018: Fugett PTO Course Selection Night Contact us: FugettPTO@gmail.com

For the safety of all students and for the image that, as a school, Fugett wants to portray to others, any misbehavior on the bus or at an away game will not be tolerated and there will be consequences for poor student behavior. Fugett students have been regarded as exceptional young men and women who treat others with respect and exhibit good sportsmanship. We do not want to tarnish this image.

Page 4 Word of the Day for December 11-15 Theme: Happy Hanukkah! Monday, December 11: Hanukkah A Jewish festival lasting eight days, celebrated from the 25th day of the month of Kislev to the 2nd of Tevet in commemoration of the rededication of the Temple by the Maccabees following their victory over the Syrians under Antiochus IV. Hanukkah is the Hebrew and Aramaic word for dedication. Tuesday, December 12: Candelabrum An ornamental branched holder for more than one candle. The menorah used during Hanukkah is a candelabrum that holds nine candles. Wednesday, December 13: Ritual Prescribed, established, or ceremonial acts, such as ones performed in religious services. A central ritual of Hanukkah is the lighting of the menorah on each night of the festival. Thursday, December 14: Hallel A liturgical prayer consisting of all or part of Psalms 113 118, recited on Passover, Shavuoth, Sukkoth, Hanukkah, and Rosh Hodesh. Friday, December 15: Dreidel A four-sided top bearing the Hebrew letters nun, gimel, he, and shin, one on each side, used chiefly in a children's game traditionally played during the Hanukkah festival.
