Contingency Planning The corresponding technical authority is in the administrative process to update the contingency plans. A contingency plan exists for the NAVAREA XV operation center which considers the use of the operation center of the National Tsunami Warning System and an emergency communication container with HF, VHF, Internet and satellite communication facilities. The maritime telecommunications centers do have contingency plans as well. The contingency plan in case of earthquakes and/or tsunamis in the northern Chile or southern Peru, with NAVAREA XVI (Peru), is pending. Chile does not have any problem to put in place a redundant system in case the need arises. Chilean contingency plan can be implemented at any time due to the existence of several stations along its coast. To implement a system involving NAVAREA XV and NAVAREA XVI does not constitutes a priority for Chile at this time. 7. Capacity Building: Nil 8.
