1 Preamble This document describes the installation of the CAA application XV5 Extended Shape Design in a CATIA V5 environment. T-Systems International GmbH, Stand: 01.12.2009 5
2 Scope These installation instructions are effective for the XV5 versions since 2.2 R18, R19 and R20 for the corresponding CATIA V5 releases R18, R19 and R20. For successive versions, these installation instructions remain valid, as long as they are replaced by a new edition. 3 Availability of XV5 Informations about XV5 and the software download are placed in the Internet (T-Systems ServiceNET), reachable with the URL http://servicenet.t-systems.com/xv5. XV5 can be loaded into any directory. It is recommended to use a directory name corresponding to the current XV5 version and unpack XV5 in this directory. The Windows version of XV5 is packed in the Zip-format. It is recommended to retain the directory structure CAA\XV5\intel_a or CAA\XV5\win_b64. The licensing software Licman and corresponding documentation is available from the T-Systems ServiceNet URL http://servicenet.t-systems.com/licman 4 Connecting XV5 to a CATIA V5 environment During the generation of a CATIA V5 environment containing XV5, XV5 will be connected to CATIA V5 as a CAAapplication, that XV5 can be used from CATIA V5. Also, from an existing CATIA V5 environment, a new environment containing XV5 can be derived. Basically, an environment will be generated, that contains a path to the CATIA V5 libraries (and programs) and a path to the XV5 libraries respectively; with that CATIA V5 and XV5 are known to the environment. This environment will be used then to start CATIA V5 with XV5. Directions for the subsequent installation steps: To setup a global CATIA V5 environment, administration rights for the operating system are necessary (Administrator resp. root). With a global environment, all users have access to it; with a user environment, in general only the respective user has access to it. Under Windows the particular directories of a definition of a path will be separated by a "\" (backslash) and the paths itself by a ";" (semicolon). <DS-Path>" is to be replaced by the path of the CATIA V5 installation, e.g..: C: \Programs\Dassault Systemes\B18. <xv5_dir>" is to be replaced by the name (complete path) of the new generated directory, e.g.: C:\XV5_2.2. <env_dir> is to be replaced by the path to the directory of the CATIA V5 environment files,e.g.: C:\DocumentsandControls\AllUsers\Applicationdata\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv ${OSDS} is the directory of the platform-specific installation, e.g.: intel_a, win_b64 Filenames, containing blanks, are possibly to be placed in quotation marks ( file name ) 4.1 Generating a CATIA V5 environment containing XV5 with the V5 Environment Editor Executing the V5 Environment Editor Windows: T-Systems International GmbH, Stand: 01.12.2009 6
<DS-Path>\${OSDS}\code\bin\catiaenv.exe or <DS-Path>\${OSDS}\code\bin\catstart -run CATIAENV e.g.: C:\Programs\Dassault Systemes\B18\intel_a\code\bin\catiaenv.exe Parameter: <DS-Path>: CATIA V5 installation directory, ${OSDS}: e.g.: C:\Programs\Dassault Systemes\B18 Directory of the platform-specific installation, e.g.: intel_a, win_b64 Examples for <DS Path>: C:\Programs\Dassault Systemes\B18 resp. /home/dassaultsystemes/b18 4.2 Generating a CATIA V5 environment containing XV5 with a command line Through the command line, the CATIA V5 environment editor will be invoked indirectly. Windows: All parameters must be entered in one line: "<DS-Path>\intel_a\code\bin\setcatenv" -e XV5_Env -d <env_dir>/catenv -p "<DS-Pfad>;<xv5_dir> " -a global Meaning of parameters: -e name of environment, e.g.: "XV5_Env") -d directory for the environment file generated by setcatenv (the name of the environment file will be derived from the name of the environment) -p directories of the installations of CATIA V5 and XV5 -a mode of the environment file (global or user) T-Systems International GmbH, Stand: 01.12.2009 7
5 Test of the XV5 installation When a symbol was generated on the desktop during the installation (the generation of an environment), CATIA V5 containing XV5 can be started by that symbol. With a command line, CATIA can be started with: - under Windows (all in one line) <DS-Path>\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe -run CNEXT.exe -env environment_name -dir_env <env_dir>\catenv e.g.: C:\Programs\Dassault Systemes\B18\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe -run CNEXT.exe -env XV5_2.2 -direnv C:\Documents and Controls\All Users\ Applicationdata\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv Remark: The name of the environment (environment_name) is the name of the CATIA V5 environment containing XV5 as specified in the sections under 2. In the started CATIA V5, Start from the main menu is to be selected and in this menu Shape. When the symbol XV5 appears in addition to the symbol GSD / Generative Shape Design, CATIA V5 contains and recognizes die CAA-application XV5. After selecting the XV5-symbol, and if a valid XV5-license exists, the XV5-function list appears at the right side of the CATIA V5 window. With this result, XV5 is installed correctly. If the XV5-function list does not appear or only shadow-like, the XV5-license should be checked with the sequence of selections of the menu points Tools, Options, Surfaces, XV5. Within the menu Licensing, the licensed configuration of XV5 can be selected. For further checks and selections of the XV5-license, it is referred to the XV5-online documentation. Check of the XV5-version number It may be necessary to check e.g. having several versions of XV5 on your computer -, which XV5-version is currently used. Proceeding: T-Systems International GmbH, Stand: 01.12.2009 8
Assign XV5 to the Favorite workbenches with the V5-menus Tools and Customize. Select the above XV5-symbol in the XV5-menu list (right side of window) with the left mouse button: a window with the Workbench appears. Within this window, select the upper right question mark and with that one select the XV5-symbol in same window. 6 Connecting the XV5-Online Documentation The XV5-online documentation (long help detailed description of the XV5-functions) is contained in the directory structure CAA/XV5 of the XV5 distribution and is to be connected by the CATIA V5-menu sequence Tools -> Options -> General -> Help -> Technical Documentation. The path to the XV5-online help is to be specified as: <xv5_dir>\caa\xv5\intel_a\doc e.g.: C:\xv5\bin/xv5_R18_2.2\CAA\XV5\intel_a\doc. To display the XV5-online documentation, select the corresponding XV5-function in CATIA by the left mouse button and by pressing the buttons Shift-F1. The display is done by the installed browser. Eventually, the minimized display (icon) of the browser needs to be activated. The XV5-online documentation is available in English and in German. Switching between the languages can be made as above - by the CATIA V5-menu sequence Tools -> Options -> General -> Help -> Language. Was Environment Language selected in this field, the language choosed is done corresponding the setting of the menu sequence Tools -> Customize -> Options -> Language. 8 Troubleshooting Some reasons and hints are listed here, if the installation of XV5 was not successful or XV5 cannot be executed within CATIA V5. During the generation of a new CATIA V5-environment, not all necessary parameters were specified, or they were not specified correctly. Please notice, that some file names or path names may contain blanks. The necessary environment variables were not set correctly to the appropriate value or were not set at all. Please notice, that some values for environment variables may contain blanks. The CATIA V5-version (e.g. R18 or R19) was not linked with the appropriate XV5-version (e.g. for R18 or R19). There exists no XV5-license or no XV5 license server exists. Support is offered by: XV5-Online-Help, XV5-Online documentation (Long Help) and Licman -documentation. No connection to the license server: Check the network and the connection to it. Insufficient disk space during installation of XV5 (not all necessary DLLs were installed). Changes to the license must be followed by terminating and restarting CATIA V5. Check the license file for correctness. On the occurrence of problems, remove all information, which is not essential for the XV5-installation on the corresponding computer. Check whether there is another XV5-license file in the same directory. 9 XV5-Support With problems during the installation and usage of XV5, the XV5-support can be contacted under: Fon: (++49) 05361-46478-14 Fax: (++49) 05361-46478-0 Email: plm.solutions@t-systems.com Address: XV5-Support, T--Systems on site services GmbH, Alessandro-Volta-Straße 11, D 38440 Wolfsburg 10 Appendix 10.1 Used Product and Brand Names In this handbook mentioned product names and brand names of third party suppliers are trademarks resp. protected trademarks of the respective companies or organizations 10.2 Liability of Product Concerning the liability of the product, it is referred to the AGB (general conditions of business) of T-Systems International GmbH. 10.3 User's Opinion about this Handbook These installation instructions were made for the XV5-users.
