How do I position myself if I m not an expert, plus steps to take to build an audience/following/tribe, and more! By Eric Louviere
People buy confidence. People buy confidence. They buy YOU. They buy your confidence you can solve their problem(s). They have to know, like and trust you but ultimately they have to BELIEVE you have the cure and can cure their problem and that your cure is worth the money. People buy authority because authority IS confidence. People buy celebrity because celebrity is social confidence. (others out there celebrate the celebrity).
the highest forms of conversions The highest form of conversions is Celebrity. If you are a perceived celebrity, it s easiest for you to convert. If Oprah says to do something, millions will do it. Next highest form of conversions is authority. A doctor can convert well just because he/she is a doctor. This is why supplement marketers get hammered by the FTC if they use fake doctors or misrepresent doctors. A celebrity doctor is hard to beat in society. If Dr. Oz says vaccines are causing Autism, you better believe millions will start agreeing. The next highest form of conversions is social proof. This is when people give great reviews of a product or service. There are lots of testimonials, and lots of proof factors, case studies, statistics, etc. This social proof stuff can offset a lack of authority or celebrity in a marketplace. A very good product can stand on it s own. Harder to accomplish though IMO. In the fast paced, every quickly changing tech digital world, where the latest laptop is outdated in 8 to 14 months, relying on a superior product is not smart IMO. Even Facebook can be beaten. Google beat Yahoo overnight. FB beat Myspace overnight and so on. I think it s better to build YOU up so ANY product or offer you create will likely sell well and you ll have earning power for decades to come.
Positioning The best attorney does not make the most money. The attorney who is KNOWN for being the best attorney makes the most money, and probably works the least too. Perception is reality. Perception is EVERYTHING in marketing. Here s the perception you want to manufacture in your market: You are an authority. If you do not want to be an authority, then you need to build up a lot of social proof about your product(s).
Let s do a real time posting technique on social media Go to Google Search quotes from some famous dude (for targeting IM or make money or personal dev, etc spaces) Find a good quote or insight, then take it and write it in your own words or talk about it or post it. Let s do that now in real time on my FB and Twitter.
Be everywhere all the time It s an hourly moving parade. post all the time. not 2 tweets per day, try 20! not 4 FB posts per week, 4 per day! Be everywhere. Start up a BLAB.im show, be on YT, be on Twitter, instagram, everywhere, LinkedIn This is where everyone is at! Go get in front of them. Send FB followers to Blab, or FB to your blog, FB to Twitter, Twitter to FB, etc. Be everywhere.
Types Of Posts To Post: Personal posts about you and your hobbies (golf, traveling, diving, gym rat, karate, etc.) People have to KNOW YOU. Personal posts with your family (they have to know you and see you as a real person). Symbol Posts. (The symbols matter. The little things really matter. What people see matters. You can control this and manufacture this.) PD guy gets a million dollar house. Pays 10k. Does mixers at his house. 100+ people show up on a Saturday. Gives a speech. Everyone is posting, sharing, photo ops, parascope, Tweets, etc about the event and his amazing house. That s the best 10k per month in advertising there is! Social Proof and makes the house payment WELL worth it IMO. SMART SMART! Fitness market? Images, photo ops, visuals, thoughts, desires, meet the market s brains, enter their brains. Golf niche? Pictures of golf centered stuff. Visuals, photo ops, pics, videos, etc.
Personal posts: stories, challenges, drama, opinions, beliefs, and don t try to appeal to everyone or you ll appeal to nobody. Have your opinion. There are millions of people and more will resonate with you if you have a stance, opinion, beliefs, character about you. Advice posts: Be authoritative. Example: For the fitness market: I think it might be beneficial to eat more egg whites and only have like one yoke. I wonder how many calories I can eat in egg whites and how much protein that will provide. hmm, going to go look that up NOT VERY AUTHORITATIVE AND I M NOT BUYING A SINGLE THING FROM THAT PERSON! Here s a better version from the same person: If you want to get full, get plenty of protein for the day, and meet your macros, then be sure and devour plenty of egg whites. In fact, make egg whites part of your daily habits. Go to Cosco and get those cartons of egg whites and eat the heck out of them. It will boost your metabolism, give you more energy and help you meet your goals for calorie intake daily. Just do it! See the difference? One is authority and the other is nobody anyone will buy from
But what if there s too much of me out there, and I m annoying people? Your aim is not to get friends, it s to make money. And the number one reason you are not making lots of money right now is because nobody knows who you are! Nobody knows the problem you solve. Want to make money for a long, long time to come? Find ONE problem to solve Focus on solving it well and become the best you can at solving it for people. Aggressively Sell something specific that solves that problem. Go get WELL KNOWN for solving that problem.
More Force To Get Off The Ground If Unknown. Rocket ship! Snowball! Push with much more force at first. JSB! comes from this mindset. Aggressive, go push with lots of force mindset! Drink more coffee! lol, coffee is for closers. If unknown, go get known. 4 FB posts per day! 20 Tweets per day! 1 blog post per day! 2 InstaGrams per day! 5 YT videos per week! Focus on selling, marketing, visibility, turning people on to you, have fun with it.
Rants and Fishing. Rant posts can be quite effective. Smacking the bee hive. Also what I call fishing posts. Example: You know, one thing that I noticed with other IMers (including myself) is how easy it is to get caught up in chasing shiny objects. It does not even matter what level you are at either, you can be a millionaire and still fall into this trap of chasing I ll tell you what really works for me and has severely changed everything and that s accountability. Man, has this changed everything. I ll tell ya, as business owners, there s not really anyone out there to hold us accountable and if we have to hold ourselves accountable, it s easy to not do it! So, what really turned everything around for me was to get in a mastermind. Nothing else has worked as well as this. (and I ve tried damn near everything) Anyway, the mastermind I m in is working wonders for me and I highly recommend you find one yourself. All the best! What will happen is obviously what? Someone will post what mastermind are you in? or something like that. That s fishing.
