President Laura Erickson opened the subject of 2016 Officers. Continuing in job will be Donna Smith, Treasurer; Dorothy Smedley, Secretary and Newsletter; Deborah Kubichek, Web Master; and Debbie McLin, Librarian. Nicole Dunn and Libbie Carlsten have volunteered to Chair the 2016 Quilt Market. Open positions are President, Vice President(s), Membership, Community Service, and Donation Quilt Coordinator. Laura asked that interested members indicate on a sign up sheet sent around. She also asked that the group bring ideas/pictures for the next donation quilt to the October meeting and the group will vote on the quilt pattern to be used. The October meeting will feature 4 Corners, with demonstrations such as trapunto quilting by Donna Smith and mitered binding by Laura Erickson. It will also be the Guild's 30th birthday party. Donna Smith s Free Motion Quilting workshop will be on Saturday, Oct 17th, and Karla Alexander s Gentle Curves on Wednesday, November 18th following her presentation to our group at the November 17th meeting. For those interested in the K Alexander workshop, go to her website and choose the pattern you would like to make from those listed in the Curves seminar information. Thelma Hawn, Community Service, reminded the group that our Christmas ornaments for the community first responders dinner are due at the November meeting. Debbie McLin, Librarian, reported that the Library is almost up and running; there will be a final list of all the books on the website before year end. She also reported that the President's Quilt effort will feature the pattern she suggested at the last meeting. Laura asked that members make people and house blocks in bright batiks with white-on-white backgrounds. Debbie stated that the guild will get Kona fabric for the people and suggested the people pattern be put into the newsletter. The house blocks will be 12 1/2 and the people blocks will be 6 1/2 squares. Sharon Kapple, Membership, informed the group that 2106 membership forms are now available, with dues $25/year. Shelly Kuropatwinski reminded the group that in two days, we'd be setting up the Quilt Show, and asked that members volunteer for open times selling donation quilt tickets. We have 12 vendors, the Silent Auction has 17 items, Nicole Dunn has 50 I Spy bags, and Community Service will have a display. Set up begins at 11 AM at the storage unit in White Rock, and volunteers will meet at Crossroads at noon. Please bring drills, ladders and aprons with pockets.

Laura Erickson announced the end of the UFO Challenge, with a drawing from the names of people who completed projects. Shelly Kuropatwinski won the kitty. Joan Williams reminded all those who took donation quilt tickets to sell to bring them to the Quilt Show before the Saturday drawing. The meeting ended with Bingo Story Games, with winners getting gift certificates from the new Atomic City Quilting Shop. Pumpkin table decorations made of fat quarters and tp rolls were awarded to the winners of another game similar to Musical Chairs. DONATION QUILT Joan Williams Here's a picture from the Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Show s Donation Quilt Drawing on Saturday. The photo is Nicole Dunn (left) who quilted our donation quilt, Donna Smith (center) who pieced the quilt, and Libby Carlsten (right) the winner of the quilt. COMMUNITY SERVICE Thelma Hawn Are you thinking Christmas tree ornaments for our fire and policemen and women and some of their families? Please keep making them. I'll bring patterns and some supplies at our next meeting on the 27th. I'll need them at our Nov. meeting since we do not meet in December. ALSO please keep in mind our annual Aspen Ridge tea and cookies in December. I'll have more info and sign up sheets in November. Thanks for your generous hearts!

Quilt Show 2015 Shelly Kuropatwinski WHAT A WONDERFUL SHOW! Thank you to all of who went to the storage unit, helped build quilt frames, checked quilts in, hung quilts, sold admission tickets, sold quilt raffle tickets, walked the floor during the show, took quilts down, took frames apart and drove items back to the storage unit. MANY, MANY helped and I want everyone to know how appreciated you are! For the statistics of the show: 27 individuals entered items, 47 Small/Wall Quilts, 26 Large/Bed Quilts, 19 Other Quilted Items, including 3 Art Quilts with the original posters, 7 Quilts from the Young Quilters. We had 183 people Friday, 244 on Saturday, for a total of 427 attendees! Overall, I am so pleased with how much everyone helped and how beautiful it turned out. Silent Auction Charlene McHale Just wanted to say a big Thank You to those of you that contributed to the Silent Auction. We had 21 items and made $793 for the guild. Again, thank you!
