Online Book Club Bring It To Life! 1. Game Day! Select three volunteers to play a game similar to Jeopardy. Ask three other book club members to write three questions each about the mystery. Select a host to ask the questions. The first person to raise their hand gets to answer the question. The person who answers the most questions correctly wins! 2. Write down the names of all of the characters in the mystery on slips of paper. Fold the slips, and put them in a box. Ask each member to select a slip of paper from the box. Each member should then answer the following questions as if they were the character they selected. What part of the story is your favorite and why? What makes you so important to the story? Then ask other book club members Who am I? 3. Find a map and pictures of Fort Sumter. Draw and label a diagram of Fort Sumter on a poster. Include the following: officer s quarters, hospital, location of cannons, and weapons storage places. 4. Look for recipes that soldiers might have eaten during the Civil War. Plan a day, and have each member make a dish and bring it in to share. 5. Examine drawings and pictures of a Fort Sumter cannon. Research how the cannons work. Discuss what it would have been like to fire the cannon. What would you have seen, felt, heard, and smelled while you were firing a cannon during battle?
