Steps to take to prepare for the Interview 1. Re-read the job posting (All on the class website) 2. Go onto the company s website and read up on their mission statement 3. Plan your outfit a. Business attire is necessary
Business Attire Men Clothing should be ironed. Hair should be styled. Key areas of personal hygiene should be maintained (brush teeth before interview).

2. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE INTERVIEW Not just yourself
What to bring to the Interview 1. A copy of your CV (Act as a back-up) 2. A list of your references containing the following: Name Job title Contact information
3. THE INTERVIEW ITSELF Yes, you actually have to do the Interview
Goal of the interview 1. Demonstrate to the interviewer why you are the most ideal candidate for the job. a. Make sure that during the interview, you show confidence, not arrogance 2. Even if the interviewer decides to pass on hiring you, IMPRESSIONS COUNT a. A good interview, even if a job isn t available immediate, may lead to one in the future
When you meet the interviewer for the first time. SMILE!! You want to show confidence and that you are at ease; best way to show this is by smiling Before sitting down, shake hands with the interviewer Introduce social niceties How are you today? Isn't the weather good/awful
During the interview Stay calm! Yes interviews can be stressful. However, it is a conversation between two people, remember that Remain engaged in the conversation Take your time answering questions But at the same time, don t take forever Keep smiling!
When the interview is drawing to a close If the interviewer asks if you have any questions, NEVER SAY NONE Ask about when you may hear a response back Ask about salary Ask about company benefits Ask about how long it typically takes to move up in positions Offer to the interviewer your reference list Thank the interviewer for his/her time Shake hands with the interviewer

Thursday s Interview 9 questions will be asked. Also graded will be Behavioural/Social Skills Attire Language (Some questions will be asked in French; majority of the Interview will be in English We will analyze two of the questions asked, as well as discussing the grading rubric for those questions
