Social: Providing Time for Fun Interaction (Small Groups, 15 minutes) Welcome kids and spend time engaging in conversation and catching up. Get ready to experience today s Bible Truth. Before kids arrive, take a few moments to pray for them. Pray that today s message would take the pressure off kids who might feel like they re too young or immature to make wise choices. Pray that they would internalize the message that all wisdom comes from God and all they have to do is ask Him for it and receive it when the time comes. 9:00 & 11:30 Trust Me What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: Guide kids to do a variety of trust activities of your choosing. Set up an obstacle course in your space, blindfold a few students, and tell the other students to verbally guide them through the course. What You Say: That required a lot of trust, didn t it? You really had to trust the other people in order for it to work. [Transition] Let s go to Large Group, where we ll hear more about trust. Lead your group to the Large Group area. 2

10:15 Early Arriver Idea What You Need: 2 sets of Go Fish cards What You Do: Greet kids as they arrive and show them where to place their offering. As kids get settled, talk about what they ve learned about wisdom this month. Ask: o What does wisdom mean? o What good is having wisdom? o Where do we get it? o Have you needed it lately? Play a few rounds of Go Fish together, emphasizing that when a player asks for cards, the others give her what they have. Lead your group to the Large Group area. 3

CG: 10 Second count down CG: The Hunt Theme Slide HOST: Hi, everybody! How are you feeling? Good? I m so glad! Host is on stage, welcoming the kids as they enter. I m [Host s name], and I m so glad you re here in The Fort. All month we ve been on the hunt for wisdom, because wisdom is worth searching for! What is wisdom? CG: Wisdom Slide Wisdom is finding out what you should do and doing it. Let s say that together. HOST AND KIDS: Wisdom is finding out what you should do and doing it. HOST: Does anyone think they can say what wisdom is WITHOUT reading it from the screen? Who wants to give it a shot? Allow two or three kids to try to say the definition while turning them away from the screen. That s right! Wisdom doesn t just come to you. If you want to be wise, you ve got to search for it. You ve got to find out what you should do AND do it. The great news is that God will help you along the way. You can ask Him for wisdom anytime. That s what our memory verse says. It s James 1:5. Will you say it with me? CG: Memory Verse Slide HOST AND KIDS: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God and it will be given to you. 5

HOST: That is SO cool! If we ask God for wisdom, we KNOW He ll help us [Basic Truth] make the wise choice! Here to enlighten us and make us wiser is [Historyteller s Name] with some great Bible Truth to share. Host exits. Historyteller enters. SETTING UP THE BIBLE TRUTH LEADER: We ve talked a lot about Solomon this month, and there s a reason for that. When you re talking about wisdom, it s natural to hear from one of the wisest people who ever lived, right? Solomon was so wise that people would come from all around to hear him speak and seek his advice on how to handle different situations. The good news for us is that even though Solomon lived a long, long time ago, we can still learn from the wisdom God gave him. Solomon wrote a lot of it down. (Hold up Bible.) In fact, Solomon wrote most of the book of Proverbs. Here s one Proverb that s definitely worth knowing. CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide Open the Bible to Proverbs 3:5-6 and read. Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight, (NIrV). VERSE LEADER: Let s break that down a little bit. CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide, with sentence 1 highlighted Trust in the LORD with all your heart. That reminds me of what we say in here a lot: [Basic Truth] I can trust God no matter what. Trusting God means believing that God has a good plan for your life. When you know how much He loves you, you can choose to follow Him and live His way no matter what. The next part is a little trickier, though. CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide, with sentence 2 highlighted Do not depend on your own understanding. That basically means that God is smarter and wiser than us, so we should trust HIS wisdom and His ways not our own. We can trust that He s in control even when we don t understand. We can t always depend on ourselves to know what the wise choice is, but we CAN depend on God. CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide, with sentence 3 highlighted In all your ways obey him. That one s pretty obvious, right? Even though sometimes it might seem like the hardest part. But here s what s REALLY cool about that. It s a command that comes with a promise from God. 6

CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide, with sentence 4 highlighted If you obey Him: Then he will make your paths smooth and straight. Does that mean everything will always go right in your life? Well, no, it s not that easy. Life can be hard. Sometimes things happen that don t seem to make sense. But this verse DOES mean that God will guide us through whatever obstacles we might face. He ll be with us, and that means we can face anything! SCENARIOS LEADER: Let s think of it this way. Think about some of the challenges you might face in life. Move to the prop box on the table. Maybe you ve been getting in trouble lately at school (hold up the backpack), and you ve started realizing it s always when you sit next to this one kid. He s not a bad kid, really, but he IS always talking when the teacher is talking, and he isn t super respectful of any of the adults. You aren t sure if you should keep hanging out with him so much. (Place the backpack on the table in front of the box.) Or maybe your little sister is always asking you to play a game, and if you re honest, it s a little annoying. (Hold up Candy Land or another little kid board game). You want to be a good sibling and be kind to her, but it s hard because she s so little, and you have your own stuff to do. What should you do? (Place the game on the table in front of the box.) Sometimes your problems are about making tough choices. (Hold up the two different party envelopes.) Maybe you get invited to two different parties on the same day at the same time, and you re not sure what to do. You don t want to hurt either of your friends feelings, but how can you decide? (Place the envelopes on the table in front of the box.) APPLYING WISDOM LEADER: You need wisdom to handle those situations, right? Let s think about some of the ways you can search for wisdom. Who can tell me some? (Pause for response.) I heard some good ones in there. One I heard was read the Bible. (Hold up the Bible.) That would be a good way to search for wisdom when it comes to the kid at school, right? If you were here last week, you remember Proverbs 13:20. Open the Bible to Proverbs 13:20 and read. Walk with wise people and become wise. A companion of foolish people suffers harm, (NIrV). That really helps you [Basic Truth] make the wise choice and decide who you should hang out with. (Place the Bible on top of the backpack.) What about your little sister and her board game? How can you figure out what to do there? Well, maybe your Small Group Leader has some ideas. (Hold up the picture of the Small Group Leader.) You can often find wisdom when you ask someone who s been following Jesus a little longer than you have. Find someone who s a little bit older than you or who you look up to because they seem wise and 7

ask them for some advice on what to do. (Put the Leader s picture on top of the Candy Land box.) And then we ve got the situation with the two parties where you re trying to decide which one to attend. I don t think there are any Bible verses about that, exactly although there are plenty of verses about how to treat other people. But remember, you can always talk to God when you need wisdom and ask Him for help! (Hold up the picture of the Praying Hands Emoji.) You probably have a few days before you have to tell your friends if you re coming, so take some time every day to pray and ask God for wisdom. He WANTS to give you wisdom, so you just need to ask! (Place the picture of the Praying Hands Emoji on the party envelopes.) WRAPPING UP THE BIBLE TRUTH LEADER: No matter what, just remember that God is the author of all wisdom. He wants to show you the best path for your life. Spend time each day reading the Bible, praying to God, and hanging out with wise people, and trust God to give you wisdom. CG: Bottom Line Slide [Bottom Line] If you want to be wise, trust God to give you wisdom. You can trust God to give you wisdom to face whatever is ahead. Let s start by asking Him right now. Pray LEADER: Dear God, thank You for giving us wisdom whenever we ask for it. We know that You want us to be wise because You love us. Help us to remember how important it is to spend time reading Your Word, talking to You, and hanging out with wise people so that we can make wise choices each day. We love You, and we pray in Jesus name, amen. If you have an offering with you today, raise your hand and we will bring the bucket over to you. Now, up on your feet and give some mad respect to our Power Praise team! Worship SFX: At the Top of My Lungs SFX: Living Inside Out Power Praise team enters as Historyteller exits. SFX: Sons & Daughters Host enters as Power Praise Team exits. Closer LEADER: Let s read that verse we talked about one more time. CG: Proverbs 3:5-6 Slide Open the Bible to Proverbs 3:5-6 and read. 8

Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight (NIrV). Solomon wrote that verse, right? Earlier we talked about how Solomon was one of the wisest people who ever lived. So if HE knew to trust God more than himself, that s something we should listen to. CG: Bottom Line Slide [Bottom Line] If you want to be wise, trust God to give you wisdom. Say that with me. LEADER and KIDS: [Bottom Line] If you want to be wise, trust God to give you wisdom. Every day, you can choose to grow in wisdom. That comes from trusting God and letting Him lead you to make wise choices. You can learn from God by reading the Bible, praying to Him, and talking to wise people He s put in your life. You can ask Him for wisdom and then trust that He ll give it to you. Here s the thing, though. Wisdom from God doesn t always come (snap your finger) just like that. Sometimes it does. If you re trying to decide whether or not to obey your parents, God can give you wisdom from the Bible pretty quickly. But if you re asking God something like, What am I going to be when I grow up? you probably won t get instant wisdom. It ll take some time. Remember our treasure hunt from earlier? (Hold up the paper clues.) The last clue said we would find the real treasure after the break. Well, you re in luck, because the break is over! CG: Small Group Slide Dismiss children to their Small Groups. 9

Don t Stop Believin Bible: Don t Stop Believin (Trust in the Lord) Proverbs 3:5-6 (Supporting: 1 Kings 10:1-10) Bottom Line: If you want to be wise, trust God to give you wisdom. Memory Verse: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God and it will be given to you. Life App: Wisdom Finding out what you should do and doing it Basic Truth: I can trust God no matter what. Groups: Creating a Safe Place to Connect (10 minutes) 9:00 & 11:30 Discussion Questions What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: Ask: Why is it important to look for wisdom when you re young? Since God is the source of all wisdom, what are some ways to involve Him in the decisions you make? What steps can you take to know what God wants you to do? What s one example of what it looks like to trust God with all your heart? If someone asked you how to be wise, what would you tell that person? 10:15 Put It Together What You Need: Craft kit supplies What You Do: Pair kids up. Give each group of kids a craft kit, but do NOT hand out the instructions. (If you re using random items, just spread all the supplies out so kids can reach them.) Tell kids to put the craft together, but don t tell them what it is or how to do it. (If you re using random items, just tell them to make the craft you re thinking of.) Some of them will complain, but just stay silent. After a few minutes, tell them to stop. Then hand out another set of kits (if necessary, depending on your craft), but this time, give them the instructions. (If you re using random items, tell them a specific item to make. It can be anything a dog, a door hanger, a card but it shouldn t be anything kids actually made earlier.) What You Say: How did you feel when I told you to make a craft without any instructions? (Pause for responses.) Yeah, most of you were frustrated. You wanted to do it right, but I hadn t given you any instructions any wisdom for how to do it. It was much better when you had the wisdom you needed to make what I wanted you to make. Here s the thing: when it comes to making decisions in life, God will always give you wisdom. You just have to ask Him and trust that He will give it to you. [Bottom Line] If you want to be wise, trust God to give you wisdom. 10

All Service Times Pray and Dismiss (10 minutes) What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: Call kids to sit in a circle with you. Ask them to close their eyes and think of something they need wisdom for right now. o They might need to know how to deal with a difficult friend or family member, or maybe they are struggling with a certain subject in school. Then guide them to silently ask God for wisdom to help with that issue or problem. Tell them to ask God to help them discover that wisdom through His Word and the wise people He has put into their lives. Close with the prayer below. What You Say: God, we know that You are the author of wisdom. Thank You for sending us Jesus and for giving us the Bible so that we can know what s wise and what s not. We know we can always trust You to give us the wisdom we need. In Jesus name, amen. 11
