WRITING AN ARTIST STATEMENT HOW YOU WILL BE GRADED: AT THE END OF EACH LESSON ACTIVITY, THAT RESULTS IN THE CREATION OF A FINAL DRAWING, PAINTING, OR SCULPTURE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WRITE AN ARTIST STATEMENT AS PART OF YOUR LESSON ACITIVITY GRADE.

DIRECTIONS YOU WILL COMPLETE AN ARTIST STATEMENT, USING A MIND MAP TO HELP YOU TO ORGANIZE YOUR THOUGHTS. AS YOU ANSWER THE QUESTIONS CONTAINED IN THE MIND MAP, YOU WILL USE THE ANSWERS TO CONSTRUCT A DOCUMENT OF TWO OR MORE PARAGRAPHS, WHICH WILL BECOME YOUR ARTIST STATEMENT.

This artwork is a painting I call The faces of Spring. I am trying to convey the feeling of serenity by using a cloud pattern on a blue sky background. I also manipulated positive and negative space in my compositions. I plan my ideas in advance. Creating art work that has some symmetry in it has always made me enjoy the process more. I am influenced by fabric and wallpaper designs. Often these designs have repetitive patterns, colors, lines, and symmetry in them. I try to duplicate these in my work. EXAMPLE OF ARTIST AN ARTIST STATEMENT I used watercolor because of its transparency. I improved my skill of using tints and shades in the color of the sky. By using an analogous color scheme, blue and green, I was able to create depth. I also usually used two neutral colors to had visual emphasis to my work.
