Applicator Tubes - Guide ApplicatorTubes Operation and Maintenance The Can Am applicator tube is a compound applicator designed to automatically dispense the correct amount of joint compound to applicator heads and corner finishers. They come in four lengths and can be used in confined spaces or high ceilings depending on the reach required. These tools require little effort to operate and have been developed to produce quick and easy delivery of joint compounds smoothly and accurately. The applicator tube is filled with compound simply by drawing mud from a container or filling with a pump. When the tool is full of compound, the piston rod is positioned all the way back to its stop. To apply compound simply snap on the desired applicator head or direct corner finisher. Next draw the tube steadily along the desired joint to be filled or finished while applying light pressure to the piston rod and tool to achieve a fast and easy distribution of compound. Place the tool at the opposite end of the joint and repeat the run to reach the previous stopping point and remove the tool with a sweeping motion to minimize overlap. This same procedure can be duplicated for all horizontal and vertical angle joints and wall joints. The tool should be emptied and cleaned by pumping the piston rod and tube with clean water. The end cap is removable for cleaning of compound from the backside of the piston. Lubricate the piston with silicone or petroleum jelly. Do not use any type of penetrating oils because this may cause the piston to swell and stick. 03

Corner Flushers - Guide CornerFlushers Operation and Maintenance The genuine Can Am corner flushers are designed to smoothly spread, wipe and feather joint compound to both sides of the angle in one pass. The flushing covers the tape evenly producing a troweled and feathered finish. This ensures that each successive coat will go on quickly and easily without any excessive sanding required. Generally used to follow the corner roller during the taping coat, the Can Am flusher will embed, wipe and feather without rolling, if so desired. Slight irregular angles over or under 90 degrees are easily accommodated by the unique blade and spring compensation feature. Unlike more expensive designs the Can Am flusher works equally well when using setting type compounds. The corner flusher is available in several sizes. The smaller flusher is used when taping, usually followed by the wider size when finishing. Three way intersections and lengths along the angles are detailed and cleaned up with the use of a drywall knife. The comer flusher is easily attached onto the ball end handle and seated into the spring loaded socket. The angles are then flushed out covering the tape evenly by setting the flusher at the beginning of the joint, applying light pressure and moving the tool toward the other end and pulling out with a sweeping motion. Starting at the unfinished end of the joint pull the tool along and sweep away when meeting the previous pass. The tool can be cleaned with a brush and water or by rinsing with a water hose. Upon removal of joint compound, carefully store away until next use. 05

The inside corner applicator head is used with the applicator tubes and saves time and materials by evenly applying the compound directly to the joint. This method eliminates the need for taping hoppers and messy handling of dripping compound on hands or throughout the building. The unique design is made from high quality cast aluminium and is machined to accurately dispense joint compounds evenly and will compensate for irregular angles.
