FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO HOLD: Don t worry, most are fairly easy & anyone can do it! 1. Hold a Garage Sale: o Spring/Summer is a great time to clean out your house. If you think this is too much work, or you don t have enough stuff get your friends to donate their unneeded things, they will often also help you do the garage sale just because they want to get rid of their stuff too! 2. Sell items on Craigslist: o Garage sale not your thing? Then take some photos of your stuff and put them online. You d never guess what people will buy for the right price. Also, see if your partner is on any of those Facebook Bidding pages, that s another great place to sell things quickly and make some great cash! 3. Pet Photoshoot: o People loves their furbabies, if you or a friend are any good at photography, why create a doggy photo shoot day. Charge $15 a digital image and then you can email them out. Alternatively, you can make print outs and have people come get them after the fact. Walmart, London Drugs and Costco can print photos fairly quickly. 4. Hold a Fundraising BBQ: o Hold a BBQ at a set price. You could have a theme and even games. Hot dogs and burgers cook quickly and you could even get much fo the food or ingredients donated by local businesses. It s a fundraiser but you have fun too! 5. Hold a Car Wash: o This is a great team event and perfect for the spring or summer! You could do a car wash or add a dealing station including vacuuming, wiping down seats and cleaning windows and ask for more money per car. Make sure to pre-promote the event to all of your friends and families. 6. Do a Raffle: o Maybe someone you know has a set of Canucks or concert tickets,. Or a professional skill like a photo session, gourmet dinner, for you to raffle off. Then Word often has raffle ticket templates you can use. You can get a raffle license through the province, at: http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/sportsculture/gambling-fundraising/gambling-licence-fundraising/class-d
7. Email or Letter Writing Campaign: o Craft an email about the challenge and the charities and send it to your friends and family. Don t be shy! You may need to send the email to the same people a couple of times as many people that often want to donate simply procrastinate on the first email. Trust us! o You could also mail letters. Craft them on the computer, print them out but add a small personal note to each letter. This honestly works. Apparently, people often respond better to an actual letter. It is also a way to hit up your relatives that are not online 8. Organize a Scavenger Hunt or Amazing Race: o This takes a bit more work but is super fun. You can get ideas from the web. Get a local business to donate prizes for the top team. 9. Hold a Sip & Paint Night o There are many local paint businesses that offer this service so all you have to do is sell the tickets. It s fun time and trendy. Men can be invited too! 10. Hold a Trivia Night o Many people want to show off their smarts! Get people to create teams, charge $25 a ticket and offer some appies and door prizes. 11. Hold a Burger & Beer Fundraiser o This is the tried and true event. Many local bars and restaurants strongly encourage these and will often make the tickets for free. Don t forget to do a 50/50 raffle ticket draw throughout the entire bar, and if you re keen hold a silent auction. Ways to pre-promote your fundraiser: Send emails Put it on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram Call people or send a group text on your phone Make posters or small flyers on your computer Say Thank you! Mucho Gracious! Danke! Merci! Ensure to send thank you emails or notes to your supporters. They ll really appreciate it and you ll feel great about your fundraising!
