These are expanded uncertainties of measurement with a coverage probability of 95% and have a coverage factor of k = 2 unless stated otherwise. Uncertainties without unit are relative uncertainties referring to the measurement value unless stated otherwise. A larger uncertainty may be stated In the calibration certificate depending on the item(s) calibrated. CALIBRATION AT NARDA (PFULLINGEN, GERMANY) Accredited calibration (DAkkS) is available as well as factory calibration for many products. The table below compares the two and highlights the differences so that you can more easily select the best calibration for your purposes. Services Inspection and maintenance Accredited Calibration Factory Calibration Cleaning of instrument YES YES Check of instrument functions YES YES Recording of instrument settings YES NO Minor repairs / battery replacement (except SRM) NO YES Modification for product improvement NO YES Firmware update 2 Calibration and adjustment On request (up-front the calibration) Calibration of instrument set (probe or antenna combined with basic unit) YES NO Calibration of individual components (e.g. probe, antenna, basic unit, etc) to manufacturer s specifications Adjustment of individual components if manufacturer s criterion not met NO YES Result reports and verifications (included in delivery) Calibration certificate, with measurement results and measurement uncertainty YES YES Service report YES YES Calibration label YES YES Documentation of results before and after adjustment NO YES Conformance declaration according to manufacturer s specifications NO NO Additional work (for NBM and SRM components only) Updating of calibration date in the memory chip YES YES Updating of calibration factors in the memory chip NO 3 YES NO YES YES Terminology Calibration Adjustment Calibration determines the relationship between the displayed value on the object under calibration and the traceable standard unit value. The result of the measurement is the calibration factor including the associated uncertainty. Calibration does not alter the object under calibration. Adjustment of the object under calibration ensures that its indication corresponds to a fixed unit value. Adjustment is normally performed for correction of a systematic measurement deviation. An adjustment makes it necessary to calibrate the object. 2 Make a back up of all saved data before a firmware update as the data may not be retrievable after the update. 3 The calibration factors that are determined are not applied automatically during measurement. Users can take them into account by calculation. NSTS 0717-E0253C 3 / 6 Subject to change

New Articles with Accredited Calibration The part number (P/N) of new articles with accredited calibration (DAkkS) is given in the data sheet for the particular product. The scope of calibration for these items corresponds to the details given above for the same model. Special calibration (COR) Consultation is available on request if the calibrations listed here do not meet user requirements; the feasibility and practicality of other calibrations can then be determined by agreement between the user and the calibration laboratory. Special calibrations require a formal offer from the calibration laboratory.
