Technology, Media & Telecom Practice Group Brian Ballo, Los Angeles, California Brian, as a securities and finance attorney, has advised numerous clients in connection with forming and maintaining various corporate entities, complying with securities regulations, structuring mergers and acquisitions and conducting transactional due diligence. He is an attorney member of the California (active) and Colorado (inactive) Bars and holds FINRA Series 7, 66 and 79 securities licenses, as well as a California real estate broker license. He is active in the Association for Corporate Growth. Gianpiero (JP) Balestrieri, Washington, D.C. Gianpiero (JP) is a Managing Partner & Principal at CFA. JP brings over 20 years of executive, strategy and board experience with over $2 billion of completed M&A, turnaround and finance transactions in IT, SaaS and systems integration. JP, as founder of Optiglobe Inc. (data centers), raised and closed over $600MM from investors and sold the company to JP Morgan/VVC. JP has closed transactions with HP, Sun, Cisco, EMC, Unisys, Nokia, Oracle, Juniper, Digex, Anixter and Checkpoint on behalf of mid market companies. Jim Gerberman, San Antonio/Austin, Texas Jim has over 30 years operational experience within all functional areas of technology companies serving worldwide markets. This experience includes small, medium and larger firms; start-up, emerging and established businesses; rapid growth in competitive markets as well as turnaround of underperforming business units. He has had comprehensive and direct hands-on experience in all aspects of acquisitions from initial strategic planning through assessment, negotiations, due diligence and postacquisition integration of businesses, and has worked from both the buy-side and sell-side of dozens of transactions in small as well as large multi-national company environments. John Hammett, Minneapolis, Minnesota John has been advising buyers and sellers of private companies for over ten years. He recently completed the sale of a SaaS model internet company. He also represented the owners of a flight simulator manufacturer. John s operating experience includes 4 years as an executive of Intel s semiconductor wafer fabrication division and international assembly operations. John has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Brown University and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He served four years at sea as a ship s officer in the US Navy. Douglas has a strong background in operations and debt financing that he gained as CFO of three financial institutions. Since 1991, Douglas has advised and assisted companies with turnarounds, restructurings, start-ups, acquisitions, divestitures, strategy formation and financing. He has a BMath from the University of Waterloo. Patrick Powell, Lexington, Kentucky Pat comes from a background of software development as a trained software programmer / analyst. Pat managed an economic development contract for the University of Kentucky and is the Director of the Lexington Innovation & Commercialization Center (ICC). In this role, since mid 2008, client companies have been assisted with the acquisition of over $100,000,000 in equity for new technology ventures, which have created over 400 jobs. Recently, Pat assisted a software client in the Midwest attain $5 million in venture capital, which will allow the company to scale its services business model to all 50 states. Ryan Rothschild, San Diego, California Ryan Rothschild specializes in working with privately-held technology companies. He has personally led or advised numerous start-up technology companies. He specializes in S.A.A.S., mobile, web, and network applications & services. Ryan has been involved numerous investment banking transaction in the technology sector consisting of both M&A and capital raises (Seed and Series A). Dan Vermeire, Dallas, Texas Dan s career began in software engineering, having developed systems for mainframes, minis and networked servers, with expertise including public utilities, telecommunications, data services, energy and healthcare.
