BEFORE YOU COMMENCE Please note that: The Product is subject to natural variation* in finish as part of the manufacturing process. The purchaser or their installer/builder is responsible for inspecting, prior to installation, the colour, finish and size of the Product, identifying whether the Product has any other defect or manufacturing fault, and for ensuring the Product meets surface appearance and product specification requirements. Subject to the terms of our warranty, INNOWOOD is not liable for claims made after the installation of the Product that relate to surface appearance and product specification. *INNOWOOD product is made predominantly from timber hardwood waste, colour will vary up to +/-20% according to the hardwood species used in its manufacture. It is the responsibility of the specifier or other party to ensure that the information in this manual is appropriate for the intended application and further design detailing may have to be made for specific applications that fall outside the scope of the manual. Installation tips and requirements INNOWOOD products can be worked with ordinary woodworking tools such as: Circular Saw Crosscut Mitre Saw Carpenters Square Cordless Drill Level&Chalk Line Tape Measure NOTE: To ensure long- term performance, we recommend that a professional trade person carry out the installation. The installation MUST be carried out in accordance with these instructions including the use of all trims and accessories. Site storage & product handling INNOWOOD boards should not be stored in the open or covered or wrapped with plastic sheet, INNOWOOD board is finish product, do not dump or drop when loading or unloading. Always handle with care. INNOWOOD boards should be carried on their edge for better support. When removing INNOWOOD boards from the pack, do not slide boards against each other, lift the boards and set them down carefully. INNOWOOD boards should be unpacked and stored undercover on dry and flat surface supported at max 600mm centres. When handling INNOWOOD boards take care to avoid scratches, nicks and other damage to the boards. INNOWOOD board should store under cover until ready to install. INNOWOOD boards should be stored under cover and protected from the elements (including direct sunlight and rain) until ready to install. Keep packs strapped until ready to install. Thermal movement Any wood based products will expand and contract with changes in temperature. The amount of expansion varies according to the amount of changes in temperature. Although thermal movements are reversible, these movements due to temperature change may vary by up to 2mm per meter during the installation process. INNOWOOD boards that have been exposed to direct sun for several hours, prior to installation will have expanded more than those boards left in the shade. When installed, the hotter boards will contract more than the cooler boards that were left in the shade prior to installation. It is important to maintain an average consistent temperature for all boards as they are being installed. Install at a nominal 20-25 degree Celsius. INNOWOOD products can tolerate a temperature range from -20 C to +65 C, If the product is to be used in an environment outside of this temperature range, please consult INNOWOOD. Please bear in mind that: Where INNOWOOD boards are to be screw fixed, holes must be pre-drilled before fixing (both INNOWOOD boards and accessories). The clearance hole to be drilled must be slightly greater than the outside screw thread diameter. Screws must be minimum 10mm but maximum 50mm away from board edges. INNOWOOD products must not be used for any structural purpose. The cut surface must be sealed with a layer of protective coating such as a water based deck sealer before installation. When exposed to direct sunlight, surface temperature may be approx. 20-25 than ambient temperature. 3

Framing construction requirements INNOWOOD cladding may be fixed to seasoned timber or steel stud wall framing members or to a proprietary batten system. Battens spacing for INNOWOOD cladding is nominally set at 450mm centres for urban and non-cyclonic wind load areas. For higher wind-load areas may be accommodated by reducing batten spacing or contact our office. In common with all cladding the adequacy of a proposed installation should always be checked by a qualified engineer. Battens, noggins and trimmers must have a face not less than 45mm for timber and 38 mm for steel. This is especially important in locations whereby boards butt end to end. Where studs are less than the required minimum face-width under a joint, sufficient landing must be provided by fixing an additional batten or trimmer. Timber framing Timber framing must comply with AS 1684: Timber Framing Code. It is important to use adequately seasoned timber to minimise shrinkage and associated building movement, which may damage the cladding system. Steel framing Steel framing must comply with AS/NZS 4600: Cold-Formed Steel Structure or AS 3623: Domestic Metal Framing. Where steel framing members are specified, use only corrosion resistant galvanized steel framing. Specific instructions for fixing to steel frames are included where appropriate. NOTE: Thermal breaks are required for steel framed buildings and should be installed between the INNOWOOD cladding and lightweight steel CFS stud and or top hat sections. Thermal break tapes should have a minimum R-Value of 0.2 or less. Screws Screws must comply with AS 3566 Self Drilling Screws for the Building and Construction Industries. Screws must have a minimum Class 3 corrosion resistance, suitable for external applications in mild, moderate industrial and marine environments and Class 4 or stainless steel for severe environments. Screws with class 1 or 2 corrosion resistance may be used for internal use depending on the individual application. fix to Timber Framing Light gauge steel up to 2.5mm thick point type gauge size Type 17 or self -tapping 8g or 10g 18x50mm for connector - flat head 8g 18x50mm for last board fixing Self-drilling point screw 6g or 8g 18x40mm for connector - flat head 8g 18x40mm for last board fixing Flat Head Countersunk Head Wafer Head Countersunk Rib 4

Installation Horizontal orientation MAXIMUM 1. Use a string, spirit or laser level to establish the lowest point (no less than 150mm clearance to ground) of the cladding around the perimeter of the building. Fix the J mould starter to the studs or bottom wall plate, at each stud position, using the string, spirit or laser level to keep the starter strip in a true and level plane. NOTE - Provision should be made for adequate drainage and ventilation behind the cladding. - All screws are minimum 10mm but maximum 50mm away from board edges. 5

*vapour permeable membrane not shown for clarity 2. Position the first row of cladding onto the J mould starter and temporarily hold the board in place. 3. Screw fix the cladding board onto the back structure, use the V-groove as guideline. 6

*vapour permeable membrane not shown for clarity 4. Position the second row of cladding above the board below ensuring that the board is properly seated and level. 5. Repeat step 3&4 until the wall is completely clad. 7

Vertical orientation *vapour permeable membrane not shown for clarity 1. Use a string, spirit or laser level to establish the lowest point (no less than 150mm clearance to ground) of the cladding around the perimeter of the building. Fix the J mould starter to the studs or bottom wall plate, using the string, spirit or laser level to keep the starter strip in a true and level plane. 2. Fix the another J mould onto the starting end of the wall. Optional: a. mitre cut the joint ends of J Mould starters carefully at 45 degree b. starter clip might be used as alternative if required 8

*vapour permeable membrane not shown for clarity *vapour permeable membrane not shown for clarity 3. Position the first cladding board onto the starter and temporarily hold the board in place. Screw fix the cladding board onto the back structure, use the V-groove as guideline. 4. Position the second row of cladding next to the first row ensuring that the board is properly seated and level. 5. Repeat step 3&4 until the wall is completely clad. 9

Butt Joint treatment Face Fixing To minimise the thermal movement of cladding boards (especially areas where harsh direct sunlight and significant temperature differences exist), both ends of butt joint must be screw fixed onto back structure. We recommend countersunk head screw to be used to flush with board surface, paint the screw head to match the colour of cladding if necessary. DO NOT fix too close to the edge of cladding boards, all screws are minimum 10mm but maximum 50mm away from board edges. 10

T -bar Aluminium Cover Use INNOWOOD T - bar aluminium cover for butt joint fixing to add a distinct character of your cladding. Please set up double joists where butt joint is required. Sealants might be necessary when installing WC24025/20025/13625. Paint the external surface to match the colour of cladding if necessary. Pre-drilling and sealing of cut surfaces with InnoCoat or similar are essential. 11

6.2 CARE & MAINTENANCE INNOWOOD product is a low-maintenance material; composite wood requires simple care and maintenance to ensure lasting integrity. It is best to complete cleaning when the board surface is cool to prevent cleaners from drying/evaporating on the board surface. Many stains can be cleaned with soap and water, as per normal procedure as follows: Immediately wipe the spot stain area with a soft cloth and remove as much of the spill as possible. If the spill consists of an abrasive substance, blot the spill. Do not rub. Soak the stained area with warm water and blot up with a soft towel. Using a clean cloth or soft sponge, apply a s mild soapy solution to the stain and allow to stand for 3 minutes. After the stain has soaked wipe with a clean cloth or sponge. INNOWOOD is like any wood product, when exposed to UV, INNOWOOD Board will oxidise and show discolouration, the colour will revert to its silver / grey colour, however it can be revived by re-coating. To maintain and protect the colour and extend the life of your INNOWOOD Board, regular simple maintenance is recommended. Conducting routine 6-monthly maintenance inspections are recommended to determine when re-coating is required. It is time to re-apply coating when your InnoBoard surface begins to show signs of fading or dullness, InnoCoat is quick and easy to apply, InnoCoat will instantly bring back the colour to your INNOWOOD Board. For more information, please download and read the InnoCoat Instruction from our website. INNOWOOD takes no responsibility for damage to the INNOWOOD product if InnoCoat has not been applied in strict compliance with the current provision of the related InnoCoat application manual. 6.3 TROUBLE SHOOTING General dirt and debris Spray with a hose to remove surface debris. Use warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush to clear dirt and/or debris from grooves or contours. Pressure wash to remove more stubborn stains. Oil,grease, food and drink Remove and wipe as soon as possible. Spray with a hose and use warm soapy water and a softbristled brush. Pressure wash to more stubborn stains. Ice and snow Use a plastic shovel or broom to remove snow. Use rock salt or calcium chloride to melt ice. Rust stains and ingrained dirt Cleaning products containing Oxalic or Phosphoric Acid can be used but DO NOT use bleach as this will lighten the cladding. With any cleaning product, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first, following manufacturer s instructions. Disposal of INNOWOOD offcuts Safely dispose of Innowood cladding as per local legislation. Do not burn. Treat as construction waste. If unsure, consult your local governing body/ council. These Guidelines are subject to modifications without notice. Drawings & sketches are for illustration purpose only. Purchasers should verify whether any changes to specifications or applications or otherwise have been made since this literature was issued. This installation manual is only suited for conventional timber or metal framing systems. Please contact us for any other installation method. 17
