SEMI-CUSTOM Kitchen & Bath Cabinetry Laser Measuring Guide

Dear Member, Thank you for selecting All Wood Cabinetry for your project. This package details the information our professional design staff will need in order to help turn your dream into a reality. If you have ordered our Bosch Laser Measurer, your package includes: Project Information Form Step-By-Step Measuring Guide Laser Distance Measurer Instructions Successfully designing your space begins by providing us with some detailed information about measurements, appliances, and specific storage needs. In order to create the perfect solution for you, there are some key areas to pay special attention to: 1. The ceilings in locations where wall cabinets will be installed. Do the ceilings in these areas have soffits/bulkheads or obstacles? Are they flat, or vaulted/sloped? 2. The sizes and locations of any windows or doors. What are the sizes and shapes of window casings and door frames? How high above the floor is the window sill or door header? 3. The existing flooring surface. Will there be a footprint left behind from previous cabinetry? Is the current floor being replaced? How thick is the new floor? 4. The accuracy of cumulative dimensions. Do the individual dimensions of items on your plan add up to equal the overall dimensions correctly? 5. The sizes and location of plumbing. Does the plumbing enter the existing room from a wall or from the floor? Can any plumbing or drains be relocated? 6. The sizes and locations of wall receptacles. Will any of these interfere with the locations of new cabinetry? Are there any additional outlets or switches being added with this project? 7. The location of exhaust vents/heating vents. Will your range hood vent to the outside or is it a recirculating appliance? Will any heating/ac vents interfere with the locations of new cabinetry? 8. The sizes of any partial or half-walls. Is there a partial wall that returns into the room? Is there a halfwall that supports a ledge? 9. The sizes and locations of appliances. Will you be re-using any existing appliances? Do you have the model numbers or sizes of any new appliances? 10. The pros and cons of your current space. What do you love or hate about your existing layout? Do you have a wish-list of new features you would like included? For what items do you need special storage solutions? Once we receive this completed package, your designer will schedule a consultation call with you in order to discuss your project in more detail. The pages in this package will make it easier for you to record your information. The laser measurer is recommended to give more precise dimensions and help eliminate measurement errors, but is not necessary to complete this package. We re here to help! If you have any questions about using this measuring guide, please contact us at 1-866-763-9455. Our goal is to provide you with a high quality design that fits your space and helps create the environment you ve been dreaming of. We look forward to working with you! - Your Design Team at All Wood Cabinetry

DESIGN REQUEST CHECKLIST: 1. Complete ALL project and customer information. 2. Attach accurate room measurements using Laser Measurer (if ordered). 3. Within Days (Immediately) Within Weeks Within Months - If this project for a new construction home, what is the estimated interior framing date? / / 3

The following step-by-step instructions will make measuring for your new project a snap! All that s required is grid paper, pencil and your laser measurer. Accuracy is the key to a successful project, so take your time and be sure to double check all measurements. Make copies of the grid paper at the end of this guide for additional plans. BOSCH LASER MEASURER QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE: 1. After installing the batteries press the MEASURE button to activate the measurer. 2. Press the MEASURE button once to activate the laser beam. 3. Position the laser measurer in corner or end of wall as shown below. The unit is designed to measure from the bottom of the unit. 4. Press MEASURE button again to take the measurement, read the inches on the screen and post to your drawing. 5. To clear a measurement press the ON/OFF/ CLEAR button. 4

STEP #1 WALL MEASUREMENTS - Begin in any corner of the room with laser measurer at waist height, and measure to an adjacent wall. Always measure in inches only, not feet and inches! Record your first measurement and continue around the room measuring all walls where cabinetry will be installed. Don t forget to include any return walls that will be adjacent to the cabinet sides.once completed, draw the floor plan and add your measurements like the example below. If you are changing the shape of your existing space by adding or removing walls, be sure to reflect the changes on your drawing. 5

STEP #2 WINDOWS & DOORS - Measure all doors, windows and wall openings. Any trim around doors, windows or openings is considered part of the opening, and should be included in your measurement. Record your measurements (in inches) on the charts provided below for reference in the next step. C WINDOW MEASUREMENTS B DOOR MEASUREMENTS B A Floor WINDOW# DIMENSION A DIMENSION B DIMENSION C #1 #2 #3 #4 A Floor DOOR# DIMENSION A DIMENSION B #1 #2 #3 #4 STEP #3 ADDING DOORS & WINDOWS TO YOUR DRAWING - The next step is to locate all openings on your floor plan. Measure from the wall corner to outside edge of opening trim and locate on drawing. Add opening dimension and then, measure from outside edge of trim to adjacent wall. Repeat process for all openings. Identify all openings from the charts in Step #2 and then label wall numbers for future elevation drawing reference. When placing doors on drawing, be sure to indicate which way the door opens. Double-check your walls for openings. It s easy to forget a window or door in your drawing. It s even easier when you re planing a room that doesn t exist yet! Take into consideration where receptacles, doors and windows will be located for new construction. Please notate your drawing if you are planning on re-using existing countertops, or matching a previous cabinet footprint left in your flooring. It will be necessary for us to calculate adequate fillers and trims. 6

STEP #4 CEILING & SOFFIT INFO: Floor to ceiling height: *A soffit, also called a bulkhead, is the area between the top of a wall cabinet and the ceiling. Straight Vaulted Soffit If there is a soffit, will it remain? Yes No (If yes, please mark dimensions on the diagram below.) What is your preferred wall cabinet height?: Wall cabinetry height may be restricted by your ceiling height. 30" cabinets (require 84" minimum ceiling height) 36" cabinets (require 90" minimum ceiling height) 42" cabinets (require 96" minimum ceiling height) SOFFIT WIDTH SOFFIT DEPTH SOFFIT HEIGHT SOFFIT (OR BULKHEAD) WALL CABINET HEIGHT BACKSPLASH HEIGHT 7

STEP #5 CREATE ELEVATION DRAWINGS - Draw an elevation of each wall and locate all openings. Be sure to include the ceiling height and show soffits (boxed build-downs from ceiling), if you have them or plan on adding them. For easy identification, use the symbols shown below to locate water lines, drain lines, electrical outlets/switches, etc. Electrical Outlet Phone Jack Cable Gas Drain Water Single Switch Double Switch Triple Switch Center Line Radiator Enter the centerline location dimensions for any applicable utility services. Identify any wall areas that will not receive cabinetry or any obstructions that may complicate design. 8
