ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS supplies our Communication Cradle and customized software for use by your employees to take a scanned inventory. ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS also supplies fixture stickers printed with consecutively numbered special bar codes. The fixture stickers are placed on every fixture in advance of the inventory and are the key control to ensure that every fixture is inventoried. The Host Computer at ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS contains all of the programs and files required for your inventory. The Communication Cradles that you received are all set up and ready to use. You simply connect the Ethernet cable to an available network port (or switch, if applicable) and plug the power cords into an electrical outlet. The scanners are initialized via the Communication Cradle and are given to your employees. All the employee has to do for each fixture is: a. Scan the bar code on the Inventory Sticker. b. Scan or key the Hart SKU on each merchandise ticket. c. Key the price and quantity, if required. d. Upon completion of the fixture, scan the Inventory Sticker again to END the sticker. e. Enter the piece count, if required; f. Write the totals displayed on the scanner screen on the Inventory Sticker. g. Place a red flag on the sticker to show that it has been counted. h. Repeat the above steps for each of the remaining fixtures. The employee will write their Name in Box #1 and the Scan Count in Box # 2. At certain points during the inventory, each scanner will be brought back to the Communication Cradle so that all of the inventory details can then be sent (transmitted), over the Internet, to the Host Computer at ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS. Reports will be available for display throughout the inventory by choosing the View Reports option on the scanner and communicating with ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS to retrieve the latest report information and by viewing the Hart Systems on-demand Internet Reports. These reports include a Missing Stickers Report, which will inform you of any missed fixtures. When all of the fixtures are accounted for, you are finished! The final step is to re-pack the equipment for shipment back to ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS. This manual is set up to lead you step-by-step. It should be read and understood before Inventory Day. 1.1 DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO SPEED UP THE SCANNING Make sure that all fixtures are neat and that the merchandise is arranged in a uniform manner. Pay special attention to displays. Check that all merchandise has a scannable ticket. Where possible, face tickets so that they can be easily seen and scanned. Double check for merchandise in out of the way nooks and crannies (under registers, in cabinets, backroom, etc.); make sure it s ready to be counted. 1.2 A FLOOR PLAN (MAP) OF YOUR STORE SHOULD BE CREATED You should create a detailed Floor Plan a few days before your scheduled inventory. Make sure that all of the merchandise fixtures in your store are represented on the Floor Plan to be consistent. You will be recording the sticker numbers on the Floor Plan, so use paper large enough (a large piece of cardboard works well). 2.1 You will be using INVENTORY STICKERS to control the fixtures on the Floor Plan. The stickers are attached to the Fixture Stickers Sheets that were supplied by ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS. There are 20 removable stickers on each sheet, which means that there are 20 sticker numbers on each sheet. 2.2 Each sticker has a pre-printed 9-digit control number (printed in the box labeled CONTROL NO.). The first 4 digits are the series the next 4 digits in parentheses are the Sticker Number and the last digit is a control check-digit. For the most part, you will only be concerned with the 4-digit Sticker Number. PAGE 2

2.3 The Sticker Number is always 4 digits long. This 4-digit number (in the parentheses) is part of the control number and is also printed separately on the sticker, in the box labeled STICKER NO. The first three numbers are the page number and the fourth number is the sequence of the sticker on the page (0-9). NOTE: There are always two pages (set up as columns) to a sheet of stickers. 2.4 The picture below is an example of an Inventory Training Sticker (a sheet of these Training stickers is included in this manual as Exhibit B). On the Training sticker below, the 9-digit control number is 3347(171-0)1; 3347 is the series, 171-0 is the Sticker Number, and 1 is the check-digit. The sticker includes a scannable bar code and boxes for recording information, such as who scanned the sticker and the total number of items that were scanned. After a sticker has been ended, the scanner will remind the user to write their Name in Box 1, and the Scan Count in Box 2. 2.5 INVENTORY TRAINING STICKERS Exhibit B in this manual contains one sheet of Training Stickers. These stickers are only to be used for Training never use these for counting Live inventory. The system can identify these stickers as Training stickers and it will not include the inventory data scanned on them in your final results. It will, however, include them on all inventory reports so that you may train with the entire system. You can identify Training stickers in two ways. First, they are PINK in color (you will never receive pink stickers to be used for Live inventory). Second, the series number on these stickers is always 3347. PAGE 3

3.1 Since the Inventory Stickers are the key control to ensure that every fixture is inventoried, properly laying the stickers on the merchandise fixtures is essential for a timely and accurate inventory. Be sure to read this entire section before placing any stickers on the fixtures. 3.2 Stickers MUST be in place on the fixtures before the inventory begins. This procedure will take a couple of hours, so plan accordingly. 3.3 Hart Systems provides the Fixture Sticker Control Log (Form # 001, which is the last page in this manual) to assist in recording the placement of the stickers (in addition to your Floor Plan). This log is used to record the stickers assigned to the fixtures in each area of the store. List each area and the beginning sticker control number and the ending sticker control number assigned for that area of the store. 3.4 A member of store management should be in charge of laying the stickers. This is a two person job. The Store manager and another key employee should work together to complete the laying of the stickers. The stickers should be removed from the Fixture Sticker sheets and attached to each fixture using a consistent method. Use the Floor Plan and the Fixture Sticker Control Log in this process. The employee will physically lay the sticker on the fixture, table, etc. and call out the 4-digit sticker number (found on the actual sticker, to the left of the bar code) to the manager. The manager will then record the range of sticker numbers used in a specific area of the store on BOTH the Floor Plan and the Fixture Sticker Control Log. The purpose of this procedure is to make it as easy as possible to locate specific stickers throughout the inventory (for recounts, missing stickers, etc.). 3.5 The stickers must be laid in a consistent manner. Start with the first sticker number in your pack of stickers and lay the stickers in numerical order. Do not skip sticker numbers. This is very important and will greatly aid the inventory process should a sticker become lost. PAGE 4

3.6 The employees will be scanning from left to right as they move from one sticker to another. They will scan a sticker, scan all of the merchandise associated with that sticker, end the sticker, and then scan the next sticker. Place the stickers so that it will be easy to see where one sticker ends and the next sticker begins. 3.7 Some fixtures will require more than one sticker. The number of stickers is usually determined by the amount of merchandise on the fixture or the size of the fixture. In general, the more stickers that are used, the better. 3.8 SECTION MARKERS Section Markers are the pads of "red flags" that you received with your supplies. They can be used to (a) create clear section breaks and (b) identify each completed sticker. A. To create clear section breaks, place the Section Marker on the fixture vertically where you want the section break to be. B. To identify completed stickers, place the Section Marker over the bar code on the fixture sticker when the sticker has been completed. This will not only be a visual aid in seeing which stickers have been scanned, but also will prevent another employee from rescanning stickers in error. 3.9 ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR LAYING STICKERS The sticker should be laid on the fixture as close as possible to the first piece of merchandise to be scanned. Do not place stickers directly on merchandise. If the merchandise is sold or moved, the sticker may be lost. The stickers will adhere to most surfaces. Place the sticker so that it can be easily reached and there is room for the scanner to scan the sticker. Place the stickers in a logical sticker number order. The system is designed to immediately alert a counter if he/she skipped a sticker (but only if they are in order). Place the stickers so that they can easily be seen and written on. The person scanning the sticker will write the scan count directly on the sticker. Do not place the sticker on surfaces that might be damaged when you remove it. The best advice is - if you wouldn t use scotch tape on the surface, don t use a sticker on it. PAGE 5

3.10 As you walk through the store, make sure that all of the merchandise to be counted has a sticker. It should be fairly easy to see which merchandise is assigned to which sticker. If you discover a fixture (or any merchandise) that does not have a sticker laid on it, use your left over stickers. Be sure to use the very next sticker after the last sticker number used. This sticker must be recorded on the Floor Plan and the Fixture Sticker Control Log. Never destroy or throw away any stickers. Every sticker must be accounted for. If a sticker becomes torn, use scotch tape to repair the sticker. 3.11 SET UP AN EXCEPTION FIXTURE During the actual inventory, there may be some merchandise that will not scan, do not have bar codes on them or are rejected by the scanner. These items should be set aside on the Exception Fixture (this is an area created to hold these items). Any physical area can be designated as the Exception Fixture. The scanning employees should not slow down their scanning to research these items. They should simply place the merchandise on the side, continue scanning, and move the items to the Exception Fixture after the current sticker has been completed. This merchandise will be researched and inventoried throughout the inventory by a person designated by you, preferably a member of management. PAGE 6

TIPS FOR LAYING STICKERS End Caps Place one sticker on each end cap. If the end cap is densely stocked, use multiple stickers by following the natural breaks in the fixture or using one sticker per shelf. NOTE: Be sure to include the merchandise that is hanging down the sides of the end caps when assigning merchandise to the sticker. Pegs and Hanging Merchandise For continuous pegs of merchandise (see below), use one sticker for approximately 50-75 pieces of merchandise. Use the natural breaks in the fixtures to easily see where a section starts and finishes. If the merchandise is loosely stocked, use one sticker for every 4 foot section of merchandise. Accessories and Housewares Use one sticker for every section. Use the natural breaks in the fixture to determine a section. Make sure that all merchandise associated with a sticker is easily identifiable. If the merchandise is densely stocked, use one sticker per shelf or per row of pegged merchandise. PAGE 7

TIPS FOR LAYING STICKERS CONTINUED Clothing Use one sticker for the clothing fixture pictured on the right. If the bars are densely stocked, use one sticker for each bar. Four Way Clothing Racks Use one sticker for each four way. If the four way is densely stocked, use one sticker for each arm of the four way. Use one sticker for each section of the hanging merchandise. Use one sticker for each section of the clothing racks. Use the natural breaks in the fixture to determine where the sticker should start and end. PAGE 8

4.1 You will receive one or two boxes containing all of the components you will need. The Transmittal, located in Box Type U, will indicate the number of boxes that you are to receive. 4.2 The box(es) will be sealed with tape. When opening the box(es), be careful that they are not damaged because you will use the same box(es) to return the components to Hart Systems. Cut the tape with a knife, do not rip the tape off. 4.3 There are two types of boxes. One will contain the Communication Cradles, scanners, paperwork and supplies and the other will contain additional scanners. Box Type U- contains the Communication Cradles, scanners, supplies and all of the paperwork needed for the inventory. One to four scanners will be located on top, in a removable foam insert. The Communication Cradles will be resting in a foam insert below. There are two Communication Cradles in the box. Box Type S- contains any additional Scanners. The S number indicates the number of scanners in that box. 4.4 Remove the scanners from the foam insert, then remove the foam insert itself. The Communication Cradle is in the foam cavity below, with the cradle pointing upwards. The power cord and Ethernet cable are in a cutout behind the Communication Cradle. Remove the Communication Cradle from the foam. The Communication Cradle must remain intact! Do not remove any plugs or cords from the system itself. Once a scanner is taken out of its foam cavity, do not put it back into the cavity until the inventory is complete. Friction from the foam can release static electricity that can result in the loss of inventory data. 4.5 You will also receive a Shipping Instructions envelope that is in the clear plastic sleeve affixed to the inside flap of Box Type U. The envelope contains labels and documents to be used to ship the boxes when the inventory is completed. 4.6 The box(es) will be reused, so put all of the foam inserts back and store the box(es) in a safe place. As each box is opened and the contents removed, make sure that all of the components and supplies have been received. If any equipment or supplies are missing, contact the Hart Systems Customer Support Client Care immediately (see Exhibit F). PAGE 9

SET UP COMMUNICATION CRADLE 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 A table or other flat surface area is required. It must be near an electrical outlet and your store s network port. The following items will be placed on the table: The Communication Cradles pictured below. The Switch - If two Communication Cradles are being used, you will use the switch to connect them both into the network port. Scanners. Inventory Control Form. The Communication Cradles (pictured below) are shipped with the power cord and Ethernet cables attached. If using the switch, plug the Ethernet cables from the Communication Cradles into any of the numbered ports on the switch. Insert the Communication Cradle power cords into an electrical outlet. When the power cord is inserted into an electrical outlet, certain lights on the front of the cradle will turn on; the Dock/Comm light remains solid red and the Fault/Run light remains blinking green. This indicates that the cradle is receiving electrical power. If these lights do not turn on, check the electrical connection. Connect the Ethernet cable from the switch into your store s network port. The Communication Cradles are now ready to use. 5.5 5.6 5.7 5.8 5.9 SET UP COMMUNICATION CRADLE USING DEVICE SERVER A table or other flat surface area is required. It must be near a computer with access to your network. The following items will be placed on the table: The Communications cradle ( cradle with an attached device server). Switch Scanners. Inventory Control Form. An electrical plug and a Ethernet cable are attached to the cradle. Insert the plugs (including the plug from the switch) into an electrical outlet and connect the Ethernet cable from the device server to one of the numbered ports on the switch. The Ethernet cable that is connected to the switch must be plugged into an available network port. On the following page is Device Server Troubleshooting information. Please refer to it if you have any questions while setting up. You have received a cradle with an attached device server. When the power cord from the cradle is inserted into an electrical outlet, the Charging and Comm lights on the cradle should turn on. The lights will remain on for just a few seconds. When the power cord from the device server is inserted into an electrical outlet, the lights will flash on and remain on for a few seconds, then the green lights will remain on and an amber light will flash. When the power cord from the switch is plugged in, the green light will remain on. This indicates that these components are receiving electrical power. If these lights do not turn on, check the electrical connection. If you are connecting only one cradle to your Network, you can bypass the switch and connect directly into the Network port. To do this, connect the Ethernet cable from the device server directly into the Network port The Communications System is now ready to use. SET UP SCANNERS 6.1 A scanner is a small computer with a built-in laser: Insert a 9-volt battery into each scanner. Depending on the actual scanner usage, you should expect four to six hours of battery life. The scanner uses one 9 volt battery. Eveready Alkaline Energizer batteries must be used. See Exhibit D for battery installation instructions. 6.2 Before starting the inventory, you must set up the scanners and receive the inventory programs from Hart Systems. To do this, complete the following steps: 1. Using one of the scanners, scan the Inventory ID Bar Code on the Hart Systems Inventory Control Form that is included with your supplies (this number may also be key-entered). NOTE: The Inventory ID Bar Code on this form must be scanned (or keyed) every time you place the scanner in the cradle to communicate with Hart Systems (sending data or receiving programs). It is your unique Inventory Identification Number. For this reason, it is very important that you do not misplace it. It should be kept next to the Communication Cradle throughout the entire inventory and not moved to another store after the inventory is completed. 2. Enter the 1-4 digit store number located on the Hart Systems Inventory Control Form. 3. Place the scanner in the cradle (the Ethernet cable must be connected to a network port). Hold the scanner with the screen facing you as you lower it into the cradle. The four silver contacts on the back of the scanner must touch the four silver contacts on the cradle. 4. Follow the instructions on the scanner screen. Do not remove the scanner from the cradle while it is communicating. After a few minutes, you will hear three special tones indicating that the scanner may be removed from the cradle. 5. Repeat these steps for all of the scanners. 6. The scanners are now ready to use. ENTER STICKER RANGES 7.1 Before or during the inventory, you will need to key the Sticker Ranges that were used on each area of the store. This will be done via the Hart web site. 7.2 For more accurate reporting, the Stickers Ranges should be keyed at the START of your inventory, after all of the stickers have been placed on the fixtures. To key your Sticker Ranges via the Hart web site: 1. Log onto www.hartsystems.com 2. Click on the Client Login button. 3. Enter your User Name and Password (both entries must be in lowercase) and press ENTER or click on the OK button. Your User Name and Password will be provided to you prior to your inventory. 4. Click in the Enter Store Number field and enter your store number. 5. Press TAB to advance to the Enter Password field. Enter your store-specific password and press ENTER or click on the OK button. 6. You will now be connected to the Inventory Overview for your store. Click on Inventory Functions from the menu bar. 7. Click on Enter Sticker Range. 8. Select the Area that you will be entering Sticker Ranges for and click on the OK button. You will choose from the following Area selections: Dept 1-Ladies Wear Dept 2-Childrens Wear Dept 3-Mens Wear Dept 4-Footwear Dept 5-Housewares/Audio/Appliances Dept 6-Linens Dept 7-Toys/Decorations/School Supplies Stockroom Defective Merchandise Enter the first (lowest) 9-digit sticker control number used, in the Starting Sticker field on line 1; press the TAB key and enter the last (highest) 9-digit sticker control number in the Ending Sticker field. You can enter up to 10 ranges per Area. The sticker control numbers are 9 digits long, for example, 1111(111-1)1 and are printed on the sheets that the stickers were peeled off of, in the boxes labeled CONTROL NO. They should also have been written on the Floor Plan and the Fixture Sticker Control Log while the stickers were being placed on the fixtures. Use these documents to aid in entering the starting and ending control numbers for the entire store. PAGE 14

ENTER STICKER RANGES CONTINUED 7.3 If more than one sticker range was used on the selected Area, press TAB to enter the remaining Sticker Ranges. Up to 10 ranges may be entered for each Area. When finished entering the range(s) for the selected Area, click OK. A confirmation screen will be displayed to indicate that the range (s) have been accepted. Click OK. NOTE: If the range entered was not accepted, an error message will be displayed and the range should be checked and re-entered. 9. Repeat these steps until ranges have been entered for all Areas being inventoried. 10. When you have entered Sticker Ranges for all the area being inventoried, click CLOSE. During the inventory, you will be able to modify the Sticker Range(s) based on additions and deletions of sticker numbers used. Each time the Sticker Range is modified, follow the instructions outlined in this section to adjust the existing range via the Hart web site. PAGE 15

8.1 8.2 8.3 8.4 The Name must be entered into each scanner before it can be used. See Exhibit D (Scanner Operations). All scanning employees should be trained before they begin scanning. Spend a few minutes training the employees as a group before giving them their individual assignments. They should all be familiar with the various functions of the scanner as well as the proper inventory procedures - including how to identify the Inventory Stickers and the merchandise that is associated with them. See the Training Guide (near the end of this manual) for more information. Give the following items to each scanning employee: 1. A copy of Exhibit A, Scanning Instructions. 2. A pen or marker for writing on the Inventory Stickers. 3. A Scanner. 4. Section Markers. SCANNING ASSIGNMENTS INVENTORY It is important that the employees are given appropriate scanning assignments. Follow these guidelines when handing out individual assignments: Assign Difficult areas first. This includes unit-intense areas. Spread the employees out. Do not position the employees too close together. 8.5 LOW BATTERY At some point, the battery in the scanner may need to be changed. The scanner will let you know that the battery is low by beeping and displaying the message Low Battery on the screen. At this point, there is still some life left in the battery. The proper procedure for changing a battery is: 1) Finish scanning the sticker you are currently working on, 2) END the sticker, 3) SEND DATA TO HART (see Section 9), 4) POWER OFF the scanner, 5) Change the battery (see Exhibit D for more information). IMPORTANT: If the scanner contains Live Inventory Data, the data should be sent to Hart BEFORE changing the battery. PAGE 16

8.7 8.8 8.9 8.10 8.11 START CHECKING a. The checking can start at any time. Naturally, the stickers must first be scanned before they can be checked. b. Manually count all the merchandise on each sticker, and check that it equals the scanned count written on the sticker. c. If the scanned count is correct, place a check mark on the sticker. d. If the scanned count is incorrect, write the correct count on the sticker and RESCAN the sticker. Place a check mark on the sticker once it has been successfully rescanned. Any scanner can be used to RESCAN a fixture. Remember: The date and time is set into every scanner, therefore, the first scanning of a sticker will be ignored and the second scanning of the sticker will be used. WALK THE STORE After the scanning has begun, walk the store to ensure that all of the fixtures in the store have a Inventory Sticker on them. Pay special attention to all out-of-the-way nooks and crannies (ex: underneath registers, closets, backroom, etc.). If you find that there is merchandise without an Inventory Sticker, you can assign a new sticker to the merchandise. Remember to record this sticker on the Floor Plan and the Fixture Sticker Control Log, and add it to the sticker ranges via the Internet. NOT ON FILE MERCHANDISE AND ITEMS CAPTURED AS CATEGORY During the course of the inventory you may encounter SKUs that are not on the master file, or you may scan or key a four digit category entry. If a scanned or keyed Hart SKU is not on file, you will be prompted to enter the Hart SKU or the category, price and quantity for the not on file SKU. The maximum price that may be keyed is $900.00. If you scan or key a four digit category entry, the entry will be validated and you will also be prompted to enter the price and quantity. Follow the instructions on the scanner screen. Please Note: You must enter a valid 4 digit category number. MULTIPLE QUANTITY Multiple quantities are permitted for all items. If you do not key a multi-quantity, a quantity of one will automatically be accepted. The max qty permitted is 500 with a re-key required on quantities of 50 and higher. A re-key is also required on any same, double-digit quantities (11,22,33 etc.) with two successive matches in order to be accepted. CASE QUANTITY You may need to enter the number of cases and quantity per case for a particular item. To do this, scan/key the Hart SKU and when the cursor is at the quantity field enter the number of cases, followed by X and then followed by the number of items per case (i.e. 6x10) and press ENTER. PAGE 17

8.12 RESCANNING STICKERS The system will only recognize ONE occurrence of the same sticker number. If a sticker is scanned more than once, even with different scanners, the system will compare the date and time of the two versions and accept only the most current version. A rescanned sticker will completely replace the original scanned version of that sticker. For example: An employee ends a sticker with 100 pieces and then realizes that they forgot to include 2 pieces. If they rescan the same sticker, scan the 2 pieces that they missed, and then end the sticker again they have now replaced the original sticker with a new version containing only 2 pieces (not 102 pieces)! The proper procedure in this case would be to simply move those 2 items to the next sticker that has not yet been scanned. 8.13 SCAN THE EXCEPTION FIXTURE Throughout the inventory, merchandise that will not scan, does not have a bar code, or is rejected by the scanner should be placed on the Exception Fixture that was previously set up ( see section 3.11). During the inventory, the person who has been assigned to this fixture should make every attempt to determine the correct UPC/SKU for the items on this fixture. 8.14 8.15 ENTERING PIECE COUNTS 10% of the stickers in the store will be randomly selected for Piece count verification. The employee will be alerted if a sticker is to be Piece Counted when the sticker is ended. After the bar code on the Inventory Sticker is scanned to end the sticker, you may be required to enter the Piece Count. Manually count all of the items on that fixture and key the count into the scanner. If the Piece Count is correct, the sticker will be ended and the Write On Sticker screen will be displayed. If the Piece Count is not correct, you will be given another opportunity to enter the correct Piece Count. If, after the second attempt, the Piece Count still does not match, a message will be displayed indicating the sticker has been cancelled and will need to be rescanned. NOTE: For every three (3) stickers that have been cancelled due to an incorrect Piece Count during one scanning session, a password must be entered (see Exhibits E & G). FRENCH AND ENGLISH User can toggle between French and English by pressing the SHF Key and the L Key at the Main Menu or at the Scan Hart Sticker Screen. PAGE 18

SEND DATA TO ZEBRA 9.1 Approximately every one and a half to two hours during the inventory, the scanners should be taken to the Communication Cradle in order to send the data to ZEBRA RETAIL SOLUTIONS. To do this, the scanner can be at either a Scan Inventory Sticker screen or at the Main Menu: 1. From a blank SCAN INVENTORY STICKER screen, a. Scan the Inventory ID Bar Code on the Zebra Inventory Control Form. OR a. Press MENU (the D key) to return to the Main Menu (see Exhibit A for all special key functions.) b. At the Main Menu, Select Option # 3 - Send Data to Zebra. c. Scan the Inventory ID Bar Code. 2. Place the scanner in the cradle and follow all scanner instructions. Remember: Do not remove the scanner from the cradle while it is communicating. After a few minutes, you will hear three special tones and the scanner screen will inform you that it should be removed from the cradle. 9.2 When the communication is completed and the scanner is removed from the cradle, the Inventory Status will be displayed showing: The total number of stickers sent to Zebra, The percentage of completed stickers, and The total units sent to Hart. HOW TO ACCESS REPORTS 10.1 10.2 After data has been sent to Hart, it is processed on the Host Computer. Information about the inventory can then be reviewed in the form of various reports in two ways: (1) online, or (2) on the scanner screen. These reports are very useful in controlling the various aspects of the inventory. (1) ACCESSING THE REPORTS ONLINE Throughout your inventory, you can quickly obtain detailed information by viewing or printing the Stores Inventory Reports via the Hart web site. The Hart web site updates in real time so you will be able to obtain up-to-date information after the data from the scanners are transmitted to the Host Computer. To access the inventory reports via the web: 1. Log onto www.hartsystems.com. 2. Click on the Client Login button on the right side of the screen 3. Enter your User Name and Password (both entries must be in lowercase) and press ENTER or click on the OK button. Your User Name and Password will be provided to you prior to your inventory. 4. Click in the Enter Store Number field and enter your store number. 5. Press TAB to advance to the Enter Password field. Enter your store-specific password and press ENTER or click on the OK button. 6. You will now be connected to the Inventory Overview for your store. Your store number and store name will be displayed on the top. Clicking on any of the underlined items will drill-down to more details in that category. 7. You may access additional reports for your store by clicking on All Reports, located at the upper left corner of the screen, and making your selection from the drop-down menu. 8. On the upper right hand side of the report screen is a button to format the report for printing. Click on this link if you wish to print any of the reports. 9. To exit out of one report, click on the CLOSE button at the top of the screen and that will bring you back to the Inventory Overview. NOTE: To Refresh a report you are currently viewing, simply click on the button at the top right of the screen. PAGE 20

10.3 (2) VIEWING THE REPORTS ON THE SCANNER SCREEN Reports can also be viewed on the scanner screen. At the Main Menu on the scanner, Select Option # 4 - View Reports. The scanner will display the following screen: ** VIEW REPORTS ** 1 = View Reports In Scanner 2 = Communicate with Hart Systems for updated reports SCREEN 1 ENTER CHOICE: _ NOTE: Any scanner can be used to View Reports. If option 1 is chosen, the reports displayed will reflect data from the last time that you communicated with Hart Systems for reports with this scanner. This may not be the most current information. If option 2 is chosen, the following screen will be displayed: 1 - Send ALL Reports, With No Sticker Detail Report SCREEN 2 2 - Send ONLY Sticker Detail Report ENTER CHOICE: _ If option 1 is chosen, after communicating with Hart and receiving reports all available scanner reports will be displayed on the Report Menu with the exception of the Sticker Detail (see Report Menu A on the following page). If option 2 is chosen, after communicating with Hart and receiving reports only the Inventory Summary and the Sticker Detail reports will be displayed on the Report Menu (see Report Menu B on the following page). Only choose this option if you need to view every item that has been scanned on selected stickers. For either option, you will be prompted to scan the Inventory Control ID Bar Code and place the scanner in the cradle for communications. The most current version of the reports will then be sent back to that scanner. PAGE 21

If you are unsure whether or not the report data currently in the scanner is the most current, communicate with Zebra using option 2 from Screen 1 on the previous page to receive the most current report information. Every time you communicate with Hart for updated reports, the report information is updated and the version number increases by 1. Therefore, your scanner will display the most current report version number, as well as the date and time that these reports were last updated. It is very important to make sure that you are working with the most current reports. IMPORTANT NOTE: If option 2 is chosen from Screen 1 on the previous page to obtain the most recent report information and there is inventory data in the scanner, a message will be displayed advising that the data in the scanner must be sent to Hart before you may communicate for updated reports. This inventory data will remain in the scanner until Option 3 on the Main Menu, Send Data to Hart is chosen. Any information that has not been sent to Hart will not be included in any reports. After you have noted the Date, Time and Report Version number, press C to continue. You will see one of the following screens: Report Menu A (NO Sticker Details) REPORT MENU 1 - INVENTORY SUMMARY 2 - STICKER SUMMARY 3 - MISSING STICKERS 4 - EMPTY STICKERS Report Menu B (Sticker Detail Reports ONLY) REPORT MENU 1 - INVENTORY SUMMARY 2 - STICKER DETAIL CHOICE:_ =DOWN E=EXIT CHOICE:_ E=EXIT For many reports, there will be more than one screen of information to view. If there are any other screens, you will see Up and/or Down Arrows on the last line of the screen. Press these arrows to move up or down, one screen at a time. PAGE 22

REPORT DESCRIPTIONS NOTE: All reports are available online and for viewing on the scanner, unless otherwise noted. If you chose to view ONLY Sticker Detail Report on the scanner, ONLY the following TWO report options will be available: 10.4 INVENTORY SUMMARY This report displays a summary of the inventory, which includes the total number of stickers sent to Hart and the number of Missing and Empty stickers. It also displays the total units for each area, as well as the entire store. This report can be used at the end of the inventory to fill in information on the Inventory Control Form. From either of the scanner Report Menus (A or B), Select Option # 1. Available via scanner ONLY. NOTE: The information listed above will also be displayed online by viewing the Inventory Overview screen. 10.5 STICKER DETAIL This report displays a line-by-line listing of every item on a particular sticker, in the order in which it was entered. This report can be used to ensure that each employee is following the proper scanning procedures. From Report Menu B, Select Option # 2. You will be prompted to enter the 4-digit Sticker Number. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the entire report. NOTE: The Sticker Detail report may be viewed on the Hart web site by viewing the Sticker Summary, then clicking on the selected sticker number, or by selecting Sticker Detail from the Reports Menu, then keying the 4-digit Sticker Number. If you chose to view All Reports, but NO Sticker Details the Inventory Summary Report (above) PLUS the following report options will be available: 10.6 STICKER SUMMARY This report displays each of the stickers sent to Zebra the total units scanned for each sticker and the area the sticker is located. Once all of the stickers have been sent to Hart, this report will display the Total Units in the entire store. From Report Menu A, Select Option # 2. PAGE 23

10.7 MISSING STICKERS The first screen of the Missing Stickers Report will display the first and last stickers that were keyed via the Hart web site earlier ( Sticker Ranges ). The next screen will list any stickers that are missing within the range. From Report Menu A, Select Option # 3. 10.8 NOTE: If any stickers sent to Hart are outside of the Sticker Ranges entered, the first screen of the Missing Stickers Report will display a message indicating that there are stickers outside of the keyed Sticker Ranges, how many stickers, and that the Sticker Range should be re-entered. Check the following items on this report: 1. Check that your first and last sticker, keyed earlier, are correctly identified on the first screen of the report, Hart Sticker Ranges. If either one is not displayed, the sticker range must be re-keyed and sent to Hart. 2. All stickers that are listed under the Missing Stickers heading must be either scanned or identified as Not Used. Process any Not Used stickers as Empty Stickers. (See Exhibit A1 for details.) Remember: Any stickers that have been scanned but have not yet been sent to Hart may still appear as Missing on this report; therefore, be certain that all scanners have had their data sent to Hart. EMPTY STICKERS This report displays all of the stickers that were scanned as empty. An empty sticker represents a fixture which contains no merchandise. This report is used to check that all fixtures that were scanned as empty are actually empty fixtures. (See Exhibit A1 for details.) From Report Menu A, Select Option # 4. 10.9 PRODUCTIVITY ANALYSIS This report displays the total units scanned and the units per hour for each employee. From Report Menu A, Select Option # 5. When viewing the report via the Hart web site, clicking on the heading will re-sort the report based on the column selected. ( sort ) icon in the column PAGE 24

Available Online ONLY. KEYED SKU REPORT This report will display all keyed SKUs/UPCs, description, quantity and retail. Available Online ONLY. KEYED SKU SUMMARY REPORT This report summarizes, by area, the quantities of keyed SKUs/UPCs. It will display the area, total entries, entries scanned, entries, keyed, keyed percent, total units, units scanned, units keyed and keyed percent. Available Online ONLY. RESCANNED STICKERS This report will display all stickers that were rescanned. It will list the sticker number, area, employee name, date/time scanned, scan duration, and the units of each occurrence of the sticker. The occurrence that has been accepted is marked by an asterisk (***). Available Online ONLY. STICKERS BY EMPLOYEE This report displays the sticker, date/time, device number, area and the total units by employee. You will need to enter the Employee Name (up to 9 alpha-numeric characters) you would like to review. Available Online ONLY. ITEM LOCATOR REPORT This report will list all of the stickers that a particular SKU/UPC is associated with, as well as the employee name, area, and total units for each sticker. You will need to enter the SKU that you wish to review. Available Online ONLY. STICKER DETAIL COMPARISON REPORT This report will display the SKU, description, category, current units, previous units, and the difference in units of the two must current versions of a sticker. You must enter the 4 digit sticker number for the sticker you wish to view. Available Online ONLY. PAGE 25

CLASS SUMMARY REPORT This report will display the class number, class name, total units and the total retail for each class. Drill down on any class number to the Class Detail Report. Available Online ONLY. CLASS DETAIL REPORT This report will display every sticker, SKU, item description, area where the item is located, number of units, the retail cost and the extended retail cost associated with the selected CLASS. There are two ways to view this report: You can either choose Class Detail Report from the All report menu and enter in the 4-digit class number or by viewing the Class Summary Report and then clicking on the desired class. Available Online ONLY. HIGH DOLLAR STICKER REPORT This report will display the top 25 stickers with highest retail dollar value. It will display the sticker number, area, employee, units and the total retail. Available Online ONLY. PRICE OVERRIDE REPORT This report will display all SKU s that had a manual override of the file price. It will list the SKU, description, sticker number, quantity, file price, keyed price and the variance. Available Online ONLY. PRODUCTIVITY BY HOUR REPORT This report displays the number of stickers, units, devices in use and productivity for each hour of the inventory. Available Online ONLY. STICKER DETAIL REPORT ON THE INTERNET - NOTE The Sticker Detail Report on the Internet will contain Class/Category and Class/Category Description columns. These columns will be populated with the class and class description for each on file item scanned. These columns will display the category information for each not on file item, and every item captured as category. PAGE 26

CLOSE THE INVENTORY 11.1 11.2 11.3 Once you have finished scanning all of the merchandise on every fixture in your store and have sent all of your data to Hart, you should View Reports on the Internet in order to review and reconcile your inventory. After you are satisfied that you have accurately inventoried your store, review the Inventory Overview. From the Overview, fill in the required information on the Inventory Control Form. This is your official documentation of this inventory. You are now ready to Close the Inventory. CLOSE THE INVENTORY NOTE: The close process will be completed on the Internet. Follow the instructions below to complete the close process: 1. Before closing (ending) make sure that you have: Finished scanning all of the merchandise on every fixture in your store; Sent all of your data to Hart; Selected Option #9 from the Main Menu on each scanner (close scanner) to make sure that the scanners do not contain any data and all data has been sent to Hart. 2. From the Inventory Overview screen, select Inventory Functions and then click on Close Inventory and follow the instructions. All missing stickers must be accounted for. Verify that all missing stickers are in fact stickers that were not used and have no merchandise associated with them. If any of these stickers have no merchandise on the fixtures, they need to be scanned as empty stickers and the data transmitted to Hart. To create an empty sticker: Scan the sticker and then END it immediately by scanning it again. The scanner will display a message instructing you to confirm that the sticker is empty. Press Y to accept the sticker as empty and send the data to Hart. Once all the Missing Stickers are accounted for and the data sent to Hart, start the inventory close process again. If you continue closing the inventory with missing stickers, you must contact the Hart Systems Customer Support Client Care in order to continue with the inventory close process. After the close process is complete, press the refresh button and the inventory status will be displayed as Finished and your Inventory Close Confirmation Number for the inventory will be available. Write the Inventory Close Confirmation Number on the Inventory Control Form. PAGE 27

SHIP COMPONENTS 12.1 Do NOT write on any of the original Zebra boxes. 12.2 Before packing the box(es), read the shipping instructions printed on the Shipping Instructions envelope and any memos that may have been enclosed. 12.3 All of the components will be shipped in the original boxes. Box Type U - will contain the both Communication Cradles and scanners. First, place the Communication Cradles in the foam cavity with the cradle pointing upwards. Remember to keep the power cord, Ethernet cable and the modem phone line attached. Second, place the removable foam insert which is used for the scanners into the box behind the cradle and place the scanners in the foam. Third, place any paperwork in the box in front of the Communication Cradles. Box Type S - will contain the additional scanners. Place the scanners into the foam cavity. Tape up the boxes. NOTE: It is very important that the equipment is shipped back according to the agreed upon shipping schedule. If you have any questions regarding the shipping of the equipment, please contact the Zebra Client Care at (800) 252-2818. Be sure to retain your copies of the shipping receipts after the equipment has been shipped back to Zebra. You may need to refer to them at a later time to provide proof of shipment. PAGE 28

TRAINING GUIDE Store managers should schedule a pre-inventory meeting prior to your inventory to review Physical Inventory procedures with the employees who will be scanning. PRE-INVENTORY MEETING: This meeting will cover learning and practicing the functions of the scanner as well as learning the procedural steps involved in scanning the merchandise. This training pertains to the employees who will actually be scanning the merchandise during the inventory. BEFORE TRAINING: Make sure that all of the scanners have been initialized. Become very familiar with the scanner and its functions (see Exhibit A in this manual). Lay the Inventory Stickers on all of the fixtures to be counted throughout the store. TRAINING: Assemble all of the scanning employees together and give the following materials to each of them: Copy of Exhibit A - Scanning Instructions Scanner A few sheets of Section Markers (red flags) Pen THE TRAINING SESSION SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 15-30 MINUTES. Give a short speech that touches on the following points: The scanner is a small computer with a built-in laser that reads bar codes. All of the inventory data will be saved in the scanner and then Sent to Hart periodically by placing the scanner in the cradle and communicating. PAGE 29

TRAINING GUIDE The Inventory Stickers throughout the store represent individual fixtures, or sections of merchandise to be counted. Explain how the stickers were laid throughout the store. Use specific examples and show the differences between the laying of the stickers on the shelves as opposed to pegs, rounders or other types of areas. The SCANNING PROCEDURE is as follows: 1. Scan the Inventory Sticker. 2. Scan or Key all of the merchandise in that section. 3. Key the price and quantity, if required. 5. End the sticker by scanning the Inventory Sticker again. 6. Key the piece count for the sticker, if required. 7. Write the totals displayed on the scanner screen on the Inventory Sticker. 8. Place a red flag on the sticker to show that it has been counted. 9. Repeat the steps above for the next sticker. The scanner will inform you if the Battery is Low. If there is data in the scanner, you must download the scanner BEFORE changing the battery. The scanner normally makes a simple beep when you scan a bar code or key-enter information. If you hear any sound other than a simple beep, it means, Look at the scanner screen and follow the instructions. The scanner screen will Time-Out (become blank) if the scanner is not used for a couple of minutes. It does this to conserve the battery. This does not affect any of the data in the scanner. When this happens, press the Power key and continue from where you left off. When scanning a sticker, it is important to know where the sticker begins and ends (that is, which merchandise is associated with that sticker). The sticker is placed as close to the first piece of merchandise as possible and it ends at the next Inventory Sticker. The employee should take a step back before scanning the sticker to identify where the sticker begins and where it ends. When beginning a new section (an aisle, for instance), begin at the far left and work from top to bottom, left to right. The Inventory Stickers are consecutively numbered and, if scanned in order, the scanner will inform you if you have skipped one while scanning. The goal of the inventory is to count all of the merchandise in the store. If you see an area of merchandise that does not have a sticker placed on it, let the Store Manager know. If a bar code cannot be scanned (the scanner will not read the bar code or the bar code is rejected as Not Valid ), try to manually key-enter the number using the scanner keypad. If an item cannot be scanned OR keyed into the scanner, (no ticket, Invalid number, etc.), it should be placed on the side. After the current sticker is ENDED, bring the merchandise on the side to the Exception Fixture (explain where this area is) to be investigated later. Do not stop scanning to research these items. TRAINING GUIDE PRACTICE SCANNING: You may want to have the employees practice scanning, or simply watch you scan before beginning the live scanning. If so, you may choose an area of merchandise to practice scanning and place a Training Sticker (Exhibit B in this manual) on the fixture. SET THE SCANNER TO TRAINING MODE: At the Set Name screen, before you enter your Name, press the SHIFT key and then the T key. The scanner will display a message to confirm that it is in Training mode. If you have already entered your Name, you may return to the Main Menu by pressing MENU ( D key). From there, enter # 1 for Set Name. Scan the sticker and merchandise just as if it were live scanning. At the end of each sticker, the scanner will display a message that asks if the employee wishes to continue this practice scanning in this special training mode. The employee should continue this practice scanning until they feel comfortable with the scanner and the scanning procedures. Remember: When the scanner is set for this Training mode, the stickers and the merchandise bar codes scanned or keyed will NOT be included on any reports or other output. After training is completed, it is very important that the scanners are taken out of Training Mode for the live scanning (otherwise, the work will be lost). To exit Training Mode: End the sticker you are scanning in Training Mode, At the Write On Sticker screen, press C to Continue, Select Option 2 End training and press ENTER, The scanner will return to the Main Menu. TRAINING GUIDE Listed below are common questions that the employees may have while they are scanning. You may want to review these questions and answers during training. Q A What if I lose my place in the middle of a sticker while scanning? The Scanner has a Review function to help you locate your place. Refer to Exhibit A for more instructions. Q A Q A Q A Q A Q A What if I scan a merchandise SKU/UPC in error? A merchandise SKU/UPC scanned in error can be deleted. Refer to Exhibit A. What if I become confused while scanning and I want to start the sticker over? The sticker can be canceled. Refer to Exhibit A for more instructions. What if I END a sticker and then realize that I made an error? The sticker and all of the merchandise should be rescanned. The date and time is set into every scanner. When a sticker is rescanned, the first scanning of the sticker will be ignored by the system and the second scanning will be used. When you rescan, you may use any scanner. What if a merchandise SKU/UPC is missing or unreadable? If the SKU/UPC can not be read or used, remove the merchandise and place it in the Exception Fixture. How do I know if the Scanner is at the point where it is ready to scan a bar code? When the words SCAN=ON are displayed in the upper right corner of the Scanner display screen, you know that the Scanner is ready to scan a bar code. PAGE 32

EXHIBIT A - HART STORES SCANNING INSTRUCTIONS SET UP SCANNER Before you begin to scan the inventory, the scanner must be set up. Follow the procedure below: **SET NAME** Enter Your Name _ HART STORES 1. Choose Option 1 - Set Name, from the Main Menu and the screen on the left will be displayed. 2. Key your NAME (up to 9 alpha-numeric characters) and press ENTER. START A STICKER SCAN=ON SCAN INVENTORY STICKER _ HART STORES 1. After entering your NAME, the scanner will display the Scan Inventory Sticker screen on the left. 2. Scan the Inventory Fixture Sticker. SCAN TICKETS You may Scan a ticket ONLY when SCAN=ON is displayed. SCAN=ON Scan the Hart SKU 5201011899900 Qty: 32 1. After scanning the Inventory Sticker, you must scan or key all of the Hart SKUs on the fixture. To END, Scan 123-4 2. A quantity of 1 will automatically be accepted for each item scanned. Scan the Hart SKU 5201011899900 Qty: 5 SCAN=ON 2. Multiple quantities may be entered in the quantity field. 4. If the scanner makes a special sound, follow instructions on the scanner screen. To END, Scan 123-4 END A STICKER After you have scanned all of the merchandise for a particular sticker, you must END the sticker - the scanner will save all of the data. WRITE THE FOLLOWING ON STICKER 123-4 BOX 1: JIMR BOX 2: 38 Place Red Flag on Sticker C = Continue 1. Scan the Inventory Sticker again, or press the Shift + X key. 2. If you are finished with the sticker - press Y. If you are not finished with the sticker - press N. 3. Write the information displayed on the scanner screen, on the actual sticker. 4. ADDITIONAL SCANNER FUNCTIONS REVIEW PREVIOUS STICKERS SCANNED At any time during the inventory you can check to see what fixtures have been scanned in each scanner. At a blank SCAN INVENTORY STICKER screen or at the MAIN MENU, press the P key and the scanner will display all of the fixtures that have been scanned in that scanner since the scanner s last communication with Hart. REVIEW PREVIOUS TICKET - If you have lost your place in a sticker, or would like to verify what you have already scanned: 1. At a blank Scan the Hart SKU screen, press the SHIFT (SHF) key and REVIEW (B key). REVIEW will be displayed and you will be looking at the last merchandise ticket scanned. 2. Press up arrow or down arrow to go backward and forward. 3. Press EXIT (E key) to continue scanning. CREATE AN EMPTY STICKER (No Merchandise on the Fixture) Perform START A STICKER and END A STICKER. Scan the Inventory Sticker and then END it immediately. INCORRECT KEYING If you keyed information incorrectly and you are still on the same screen, you can make corrections by pressing CLEAR and re-keying the information. BKSP (Backspace) deletes only the last character keyed. DELETE TICKET - If you scanned or keyed an item incorrectly and you are now at a new screen: 1. Press the SHIFT (SHF) key and REVIEW (B key). 2. Press up arrow or down arrow to go backward and forward to find the ticket you wish to delete. 3. Press DELETE (G key) and follow instructions. 4. Press EXIT (E key) to continue scanning. CANCEL STICKER (DELETE ALL RECORDS FOR THIS STICKER) Press the CLEAR (CLR key) at a blank Scan the Hart SKU screen and follow instructions. (You can only cancel the sticker that you are scanning, you cannot cancel a sticker that was ended.) LOW BATTERY INSTRUCTIONS If you receive a Low Battery message while scanning, FINISH the sticker you are working on and send the data to Hart before changing the battery (See Exhibit D). Insert the new battery according to the diagram on the outside of the battery compartment (look for the + and -). 6. Replace the battery holder and cap. 7. Turn the scanner ON. 8. HART STORES INVENTORY SPECIFICATIONS & CONSIDERATIONS STICKERS HART SKUS CATEGORY QUANTITY CASE QUANTITY PIECE COUNTS NOT ON FILE OR CATEGORY INVENTORY CONTROL FORM REVIEW STICKERS SCANNED After 50 stickers are scanned, the data must be sent to Hart. The scanner will display the message, 50 STICKERS WERE SCANNED - DATA MUST BE SENT TO HART. NOTE: You may also send data at any time prior to scanning 50 stickers. After 999 records are scanned or keyed within a sticker, the sticker must be ended. The scanner will display the message, THIS STICKER MUST BE ENDED. NOTE: A record is created each time a new (different) bar code is scanned. There may be many quantities associated to one record. 1. Code 128 - Can be scanned or keyed and must be lengths of 4, 6, 8-9 & 13. 2. UPC A - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 12 digits in length. 3. UPC E - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 8 digits in length. 4. EAN 13 - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 13 digits in length. 5. Interleaved 2 of 5 - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 4, 6, 8-9 digits in length. 6. Codabar - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 8 digits in length. 7. Code 39 - Can be scanned or keyed and must be 4, 6 or 8-9 digits in length. If the SKU of an item is barred out (category SKU), enter the 4 digit category number. You will then be prompted to enter the price and quantity for the item. Multiple quantities can be keyed for all items. If you do not key a multi-quantity, a quantity of one will automatically be accepted. The maximum quantity permitted is 500 with a re-key required on quantities of 50 and higher. A re-key is also required on same, double digit quantities (11,22,33) with two successive matches in order to be accepted. You may need to enter the number of cases and quantity per case for a particular item. To do this, scan/key the bar code and when the cursor is at the quantity field enter the number of cases, followed by X and then followed by the number of items per case (i.e. 6x10) and press ENTER. You will be required to conduct Piece counts on 10% of the stickers in your store. The system will randomly select these stickers for piece count. After an incorrect Piece count has been entered for 3 stickers within a session a password will be required. The password can be keyed entered (27601) or the bar code scanned on Exhibit G. If a SKU or UPC is not on file, you will be prompted to scan or key the Hart SKU or press the K key to enter the category number, price and quantity for the item. You must enter a valid category number for each not on file item. If the SKU of an item is barred out (category SKU), enter the 4 digit category number. You will then be prompted to enter the price and quantity for the item. This form is the official documentation of this inventory. Make sure that it is completed with the most current information at the END of the inventory. Follow the instructions printed on the form. At any time during the inventory, you can check to see what fixtures have been scanned in each scanner. At a blank SCAN INVENTORY STICKER screen or a the MAIN MENU, press the P key and the scanner will display all the fixtures (in sticker number order) that have been scanned in that scanner.
