Transfer pattern lines and details as needed. Some colors will require more than one coat to cover. Let dry between coats and steps. Use the brush size you are most comfortable with for all areas. Sand surface, wipe clean. Basecoat surface with Camel mixed with Sealer 1:1. Let dry. Sand lightly again and wipe clean. Basecoat again using Camel alone (no sealer). On the front, shade along the two side edges and along the top edge with Honey Brown. Shade along the outside edge of the two sides and top edge of the pallet with Honey Brown. Let dry. Transfer basic design lines (but not the lettering at this time). Basecoat as follows: Girl s dress: Foliage Green. Girl s face, hands and legs: With a mix of Toffee/White/Boysenberry Pink to desired shade. Pumpkins: Canyon Orange. Pumpkin stems: Hauser Medium Green. Shoes: Dark Chocolate. Birds: Lamp Black. Bird beaks: Saffron Yellow. 2 artistsclub.com

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS Girl s Dress: 1. Using Hauser Medium Green, lightly shade around the outside edge of the body of the dress; shade in the line forming the little poof on her sleeves; along the bottom edge of the sleeves and on the sleeves closest to the body. 2. Using Lemonade, highlight the top edge of the sleeves. 3. Transfer lines for the buttons. Basecoat with Splendid Gold. When dry, apply thread lines with Hauser Dark Green. Shade on the dress, around the outside edge of the button with Hauser Medium Green. 4. Using the 1/8" check stencil and Hauser Medium Green, apply the check pattern to the bottom of the dress. Girl s face, hands and legs: 1. Using Dark Chocolate, very lightly shade the hands closest to the sleeves; and shade on the legs closest to the dress and the tops of the shoes. 2. Using Burnt Sienna and a choppy motion, apply the girl s hair. Using Dark Chocolate, apply fewer squiggles. Using Lamp Black, apply a few more squiggles. 3. Lighten the face mix just a little and dot on the nose. Using Titanium White, apply a highlight mark to the nose and using Dark Chocolate, very lightly shade on the face around the outside edge of the nose. Using Lamp Black, dot her eyes and line the eyebrows. Apply cheeks with a Q-tip and Country Red. Using Titanium White, apply a tiny dot to the eyes. 4. Using Honey Brown, lightly shade all around the outside edge of the girl, pumpkins and birds (don t forget the bird on the top edge!). Pumpkins: 1. Using Burnt Sienna, lightly shade in the separations on the pumpkins. 2. Using Cadmium Yellow, dry brush highlights to the centers of the pumpkin sections. 3. Using Hauser Dark Green, shade the stems closest to the pumpkins. 4. Using Hauser Light Green, highlight the top edges of the stems. Shoes: 1. Using Lamp Black, shade the shoes along the back edges and along the bottom edges. 2. Using Titanium White, apply the highlight mark on the shoes. artistsclub.com 3

Birds: (Don t forget the bird on the top edge of the pallet) 1. Using Honey Brown, shade the beaks closest to the body. 2. Using Titanium White, dot the eyes; apply the line for the wings and apply a highlight mark on the beaks. 3. Using Lamp Black, place a tiny dot in the eyes and apply the lines for the bird s legs. Lettering: 1. Transfer FALL letter outlines. Basecoat with Burnt Sienna. 2. Using Antique Maroon, shade the back edges of all the letters. 3. Using Tangelo Orange, highlight the front edges of all the letters. 4. Using Cadmium Yellow, apply highlight lines down the right sides of all the letters. 5. Using Lamp Black, apply the string holding up the letters on the garland. Side stenciling: Using the Fall Word mix stencil and Burnt Sienna, stencil on phrases of your choice to the two sides and top edge of the surface. FINISHING Let dry thoroughly. Erase any pattern lines that might still be visible. Apply a couple light coats of matte varnish. Display on a tabletop or shelf. Enjoy! artistsclub.com 5
