You ll start right at the beginning learning rotary cutting, accurate seaming, block construction, quilt assembly, and settings and borders. Page 3 Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3-hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing, and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension. Instructor: Sue Sunday, January 28; 12 4 pm Trapunto Trapunto is a quilting technique that adds depth and dimension to a quilt. Also know as the stuffed or stuffing technique, it gives motifs in your quilt a raised or puffy appearance. In this class, you ll learn to create this look by using an extra layer of batting and water-soluble thread. You ll be surprised how easy it is to get this stunning effect. Get ready to take your quilting to the next level. Page 4 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Our monthly group is open to anyone who would like to join and learn English Paper Piecing (EPP). This quilt-along lasts 5 sessions. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. **If you are new to English Paper piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee.
