Sandi Trueman Brock S. Secondary School teacher gave Sandi a whole three (3) boxes of wood scrap pieces Good for pen blanks, small turnings. Etc., please take them from me tonight. I do NOT want to pack them home Family Day (Feb. 13, 2017) We need volunteers to work at a set of tables for a few hours demoing our skills to kids in town. We, so far, have around five (5) volunteers. They are; Sandi T., Janessa B., Steve E., Gary H., Terry S., Warren J. We have a band saw, drill press, H/M hand saws (hacksaw blades); and Warren is going to try and get a supply of balsa wood for kids to cut-out and assemble toy cars.. The photos are now on the web site at < http:///ttp.htm > SHOW & TELL: Russ Cahoon Warren James showed us the finished picture of Marquetry that he showed us during his demo Had the photo, and picture. Also showed piece of veneer that he was told looked like the New Zealand Ancient Wood Kauri. Nice. Dave Agar Scrap-wood (cracked) piece of wood made into a beautiful bowl. Filled the crack with sawdust of same wood and covered with c/a glue to fasten into crack. Nice. Denis Biron Two (2) Canadian Flag imbedded pens for Canada s 150 th anniversary. Must tell you that this epoxy based material is very brittle. Chips easily 3
Sandi Trueman Showed a jar with 450 marbles in it, to represent the glass beads the kids collect, and a plastic jar showing the relative size the boxes can and should be to relate to the amount of beads some of these kids collect. She also had a piece of flooring that she s going to try and make into a box to see what it comes to. Stay tuned. CANADA DAY SUPPLIES: Janessa Don Gienow has told us that he has a supply of alder that is 2 thick, but up to 8 wide, and 12 to 14 in length But, it s buried under snow right now and he ll have to go out and dig it out. Russ Cahoon is going to inspect his box of supplies to see if he has any left over from July 1 st, 2016 DEMO: Dave Gilmour Dove Tail Joinery by Hand Dave gave a very informative demo on the intricacies of hand-made dove tail joinery and it s many iterations of techniques Very detailed and informative.
