Diabetic Health Clinic Session 6 Worksheet Page 1 Name This week is preparation week. During the course of this week you must ensure that you are ready with everything that you need. If you do your preparation you will be giving yourself the best chance of success. Here is a check list of some of the things that you will need: A juicer. If you don't have you will need one. The Breville Fountain is the cheapest quality juicer you can get. At least two 750 ml glass bottles with a good tight closing lid. (Screw on is the best.) A shop that supplies good veggies If you want to use organic that is even better. Thing to try this week: Making a juice and using the juicer including cleaning up etc. Trying recipes and juices that taste nice. Where possible replace a meal with a juice. Do not go into juicing full time. From now on in minimising processed foods and really ramping up the intake of natural unprocessed foods. Things to set-up that are helpful: The support of my friends and family. Our own internal group support. What do do if you have to cook while on a juice fast. How do I handle the social aspect of eating, that is what to do when going our with friends. Now the practice side of things: What do I do when I feel like giving it up. How to deal with the sugar withdrawals. How do I deal with this when the going gets tough? What do I do when people tell me that I am mad or crazy. Practice purchasing juicing vegetables. Look at pricing and quantities that you will need. Doctors Supervision: Getting a baseline blood test done before commencing anything. Seeing the doctor and advising him/her on what you are doing and getting them to supervise you. Disclaimer: Type 2 diabetes is a serious metabolic disease that is diagnosed by your doctor. Your doctor prescribes the appropriate medications to provide you with the appropriate medical treatment. Changes in lifestyle and diet may change the way that your prescribed medications work. It is important that any lifestyle changes to naturally reduce blood sugar levels, or other, are monitored by your doctor. Only your doctor is qualified to advise you on the effects of medication and lifestyle changes, to monitor those changes and to alter prescribed medications. Before making any lifestyle changes you should consult your doctor. Copyright 2018 Diabetic Health Clinic. All rights reserved.

Diabetic Health Clinic Session 6 Worksheet Page 2 We now need to go through every possible scenario where you may come up against difficulties. Remember that the withdrawal symptoms from sugar can last for anywhere up to 6 days. For some people it is less 3 or 4 days. At the same time you will be detoxing. Then there is the social aspect of eating. Don't underestimate this issue. In addition there is the physical things around you. Seeing people eating you favourite food is sometimes difficult to overcome. Having to cook for another family member during the process can be difficult. On this page list all the possible temptations and difficulties that you will have. Don't leave any stone unturned. Write each item in point form.

Diabetic Health Clinic Session 6 Worksheet Page 3 Now that you have a list of all possible difficulties that you may experience it is time to work out a solution as to how you will deal with these. Be creative. There is no right or wrong way. Each area needs to be thought through in a way that will work for you. Once you have a solution to each difficulty from the previous page note it down in corresponding point form.

Diabetic Health Clinic Session 6 Worksheet Page 4 Now that you have a solution for each difficulty it is time to put a strategy into place. The strategy is important as whenever you are faced with a difficult situation you will need to activate the strategy that you have put into place. Again there is no right or wrong strategy. It needs to be a strategy that works for you. For example a strategy could be that you phone someone from your support group etc. Write your strategies in corresponding point form. Remember that a well planned strategy will make it much easier for you to deal with anything that may come your way.

Diabetic Health Clinic Session 6 Worksheet Page 5 Now that you have a strategy for each difficulty it is time to work out what benefit you will gain from each strategy if you need to activate it. You may be noting down the same benefits for some of the strategies. That is ok. It is important that you get a good measure of what each of these preplanned strategies are achieving for you. Upon commencement of your program you will be noting down every time you activated a strategy. This will not only give you a great sense of achievement but it will also highlight the benefits that you are generating with each victory.
