Please have your child practice zipping, snapping, or buttoning his/her jacket. Kindergarten is not as you remember it. Kindergarten is work and requires children to sit quietly, to focus, and to take turns learning. It is a structured day that requires self-discipline and self-control. Please work on these skills at home with your child so that he/she is well prepared for the first day of school. On the first day of school, feel free to come in and help your child get settled, give him/her a reassuring hug and then depart. Children who are ready usually have no difficulty coming in on their own after that.
