Adult classes watercolour painting 4 weeks, 2 Sessions, Tuesdays 11am -2pm Session 1: September 18 October 9 Session 2: October 16 November 6 Price: $95 (VAC members receive a 10% discount) This course is guided by an experienced teacher for all levels. Learn how to paint transparent watercolours with glowing light. Traditional watercolour techniques will be taught with impressionistic style through basic drawing, colour mixing and composition. Enjoy yourself in a positive, encouraging atmosphere. You supply your own materials. A list is given upon registration. Instructor: Hi-Sook Barker Beginner's Pottery Afternoons (8 Weeks) Tuesdays 2pm - 5pm, September 18 November 6, 2018 This course will focus on creating functional pottery while exploring fundamental techniques of pinch, slab, and coil combined with a variety of decorating techniques to give your pottery a professional look. Course includes 1 sleeve of clay, glazes and all firings. Instructor: Lindsay Anderson Beginner's Pottery evenings (8 Weeks) Tuesdays 6pm - 9pm, September 18 November 6, 2018 This course will focus on creating functional pottery while exploring fundamental techniques of pinch, slab, and coil combined with a variety of decorating techniques to give your pottery a professional look. How do we create a sense of season, movement, and change through painting? Appropriate for all levels of students. Supply list will be provided upon registration. Instructor: Marissa Sweet intermediate WHEEL THROWING Afternoons (8 Weeks) Wednesdays 2pm - 5pm, September 19 November 7 This class is for people who have experience working with clay and would like to hone their skills to learn to make more than bowls & mugs. This course will allow participants to gain skills that will allow them to become more consistent in their throwing, and get more out of their clay. Students will learn to make a variety of lidded pieces such as honey and garlic pots, butter dishes, sugar bowls, canisters and plates. People taking this class should be able to consistently centre & lift at least 2 lbs of clay. Instructor: Jo-Ann Jordan Beginner s WHEEL THROWING evenings (8 Weeks) Thursdays 6pm - 9pm, September 20 November 8 Forget Ghost! Come & try raising some clay off the wheel yourself! By the time the classes are done you will have pots to share. If you re unsure of yourself and would like a refresher, this is also the class for you! Instructor: Jo-Ann Jordan The VAC is a non-profit organization. In order to run quality courses, a minimum of 6 students is required in order to cover costs and a maximum of 12 students provides a safe and optimum setting for learning and fun. This is standard for all classes unless otherwise posted.

Uninstructed Life Drawing Sundays, 11:00-2:00 $40/4 week (full month) pre-pay or $15/week (pay as you go) This is a time slot for artists looking to work with a model. Come in and draw or paint independently and work alongside other artists. Dates: September 23, 30 October 7, 14, 21, 28 November 4, 11, 18, 25 Pottery Open Studio (all year) $175 annual flat fee $30/month for access to any Open Pottery Studio time slots* Open Studio is great if you are new to working with clay or just looking to work independently. An instructor will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance when needed. Sleeves of clay are not included in the course fee and must be purchased from the VAC. POTTERY WORKSHOPS Casseroles, Canisters, Cookie Jars & More Sunday, October 21, 10am - 4pm Price: $65 (VAC members receive a 10% discount) Are you looking to expand your range and make larger, more useful pieces of pottery? This workshop will introduce you to more advanced projects such as lidded casseroles, cookie jars and canisters, as well as plates. Over the course of the workshop you will pick up a few tips to help make those pieces bigger as well as throw at least three different types of plates, and lids to fit on bases you make. Instructor: Jo-Ann Jordan Intermediate Throwing Camp Sunday, November 25, 10am - 4pm Price: $65 (VAC members receive a 10% discount) Do you feel you have "hit the wall" in terms of being able to throw more efficiently or more consistently? This workshop will encourage and challenge you to increase your throwing skills, try new techniques and help you get more out of your clay. Throwing is a physical skill that requires proper technique, proper care of your body and practice, practice, practice. A limber sense of humour and a willingness to cut pots in half, as a learning tool, will make for an enjoyable workshop. Instructor: Jo-Ann Jordan
