BLOOD DONATION- A NEW INITIATIVE BY BAI Dear Members, Badminton Associa on of India has achieved glorious heights in terms of excellent performance at the interna onal levels as wells as in organizing most pres gious interna onal events in India. While our endeavor to achieve higher excellence in performance at the world levels would con nue vigorously, we felt it is the right me, the Badminton fraternity also started contribu ng towards the welfare of the society.dona ng blood was one of such noble causes which can go a long way helping the needy people and save their precious life. Due to steep increase in the life threading diseases as also in number of accidents /disasters, the requirement of blood has gone up manifold. Considering the value of blood in today's world, the badminton associa on of Indian in conjunc on with the U ar Pradesh Badminton Assocai on, Babu Banarsi Das Academy and Red Cross Society Lucknow took up th ini a ve to organize a volunteer Blood Dona on Camp at the BBD Academy on 27 January 2017 during Syed Modi Interna onal Badminton Tournament. During this camp, a large number of technical officials, managers Coaches including Mr. P Gopichand, the Chief coach of Indian Team and many other members of Badminton fraternity came forward to donate blood. Though we kept the policy of refraining players from this Blood dona on camp but I appreciate the zeal of Miss Anushka Parikh from Gujrat, who along with her mother insisted to become one of the Blood donor and donated blood for the first me in her life as her long las ng agenda since long. I would like to convey my deep apprecia on and complement one and all who were associated with the organiza on of this blood camp especially those who donated blood. I would like to urge all the state Badminton Associa on and the Badminton fraternity in general to organize such camps in future too during various na onal /interna onal events and contribute towards this noble cause. I am op mis c that such an ini a ves by the Badminton Associa on of India and its affiliated members would inspire many other sports federa on /organiza on too in mes to come. It is wonderful to see that BAI is supporting such a good cause and bringing about awareness on the important of blood donating. Nothing is comparable to the preciousness of human blood. BAI has taken a very great step. I support this good cause. SHAMIM HASAN (BANGLADESH) UMPIRE Blood is life. blood donation initiatives are always a noble cause to society. apart from organizing blood donation camps and awareness, one should also have a whatsapp group of their respective association members ( the technological advancement using right! ). Members in this group should have all their blood group listed in it so that blood is available to any / every recipient who requires it in that region. Over all, a if proper precautions maintained during the camp, such a life saving mechanism would and should receive enormous support from every aspect of society.
