Haas is recognized as a certified manufacturer under the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) administered Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP). We have met the KCMA certification requirements in the areas of air quality, product and process resource management, environmental stewardship, and community relations. Haas proudly displays the ESP seal on our products. The ESP seal helps consumers identify cabinets and cabinet manufacturers who are committed to protecting the environment. KCMA/ESP HAAS CABINET CONSTRUCTION KCMA CERTIFIED KCMA sponsors the nationally recognized voluntary testing and certification program for cabinets, ANSI/KCMA A161.1, Performance & Construction Standard for Kitchen and Vanity Cabinets. The program is referenced by U.S. government agencies, architects, builders, remodelers, and other specifiers. Cabinets that comply and bear the KCMA certification seal are recognized in the marketplace as a quality product able to perform after a rigorous battery of tests simulating years of typical household use. Tests are performed by approved third-party independent laboratories. Samples for testing are selected in an unannounced visit to the manufacturing plant. KCMA SEAL 1. Face frame. All Haas cabinets use a 3/4" thick solid hardwood front frame. Frames are grooved to accept the cabinet top/bottom and end panels, providing a sturdy, interlocking construction. 2. Front frame joints. Front frame joints are pinned and glued under pressure. Haas uses a blind mortise and tenon joint, a strong joint with a clean appearance. 3. Toe kick. Haas base and vanity cabinets use a 3" deep by 4-1/2" tall toe kick. The toe support is lipped and glued into the end panels for extra support and strength. 4. Nail stick. Solid wood nail sticks are an integral part of Haas cabinetry. These pieces provide a strong, secure and long-lasting mounting platform for cabinet installation. No particleboard strips or thin cabinet backs to hold the cabinets in place. 5. Drawers. All Haas drawers are made of 5/8" thick solid hardwood material. A 1/4" thick plywood drawer bottom is grooved into the box on all four edges and glued. This long-lasting construction technique provides years of troublefree 2 4 service to one of the most used components in your kitchen. 5 6 6. Drawer joints. All drawers are standard with dovetail joints on all four corners. These joints are glued under pressure and provide years of drawer structure reliability. 7 7. Drawer guides. Drawer guides are hidden from view by using an under mount mounting method. The full weight of the drawer rests directly on the guides, not mounting screws. Epoxy coated guides are standard on most products. An upgrade to full-extension under mount drawer guides is also available. This revolutionary drawer guide features a softclose mechanism that gently closes the drawer against the cabinet. 1 8 8. Adjustable shelves. Most cabinets have adjustable shelves that allow the homeowner to select the opening sizes. In addition, a full array of unique pull-out products is available to maximize access to some hard-to-reach areas. 9 9. End panels. All Haas ends are made of 1/2" thick material with 3/16" furniture offset on the outside. Exposed ends are available with real wood veneers (not a man-made vinyl or paper) to nicely complement the solid wood used in the doors and frames. This finishing touch is also available in 3/4" material to allow a flush end appearance for more contemporary styled kitchens. 3 2

GLAZED ACCENTS Glazed accents consist of a secondary finish applied to the hang-up areas on a select group of Haas door styles. These secondary colors provide for a two-toned softening to a sometime dominant single color associated with certain stain or paint schemes. These accents are available on most clear stains and solid paint colors and certain opaque finish processes. CREAM (CR) EBONY FROST (FR) MOCHA (MO) PEWTER (PE) TAUPE (TA) STAIN VARIATIONS CLEARS, OPAQUES, AND ANTIQUES CLEAR stained products are the result of highly pigmented stains applied using automated finish equipment. After the stain is applied, it is hand wiped to enhance the natural beauty of wood. Two coats of ultraviolet-cured, clear topcoat material provides a long-lasting, environmentally friendly finish. Glaze accents are available on most door styles and on all clear stained finishes to provide a distinctive look. CLEAR OPAQUE finishes consist of two distinctive color applications. First, a primary, clearpigmented stain provides an overall color tone. After this coating has cured, a darker, secondary stain is wiped onto all surfaces of the product. This multi-step process, sometimes referred to as misting or shading, adds subtle color variations to the wood surface. This variation is more pronounced in softer and more detailed areas resulting in the handcrafted, deep-finish look of fine furniture. Glazed accents may be applied to some opaque stains to further emphasize the hang-up areas of the doors. The wood specie and door style will play a large role in the final appearance of opaque stained finishes. OPAQUE ANTIQUE stains involve several distinctive, hand-applied, finish steps. The wood is physically distressed through excess sanding, random moderate denting, and false splits placed in some wood grains. Two unique toned stains are then applied. These separate opaque stains provide a handsome overall appearance with just enough highlighting in the distressed and hang-up areas to provide the old-world look of worn heirloom pieces. ANTIQUE 8
