He immigrated to the United States in 1906 or 1907 and settled in New York City, where he began working as a tailor. Samuel married Ida Goldberg (1895-1975) on December 20, 1913, and the couple moved to Charleston, South Carolina, in November 1914, shortly before Ida gave birth to her first child. Sam and Ida had five children: Solomon Breibart (1914-2009), George Breibart (1917-2014), Mildred "Mickey" Breibart Sonenshine (1923- ), Sidney Breibart (1928- ) and Jack Breibart (1931- ). Samuel opened and operated a grocery store on Meeting Street in Charleston known as Breibart's Grocery. Solomon Breibart attended the College of Charleston and earned his MA and teaching certificate from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1938. During this period, he became an active member of Aleph Zadik Aleph, a Jewish youth organization affiliated with B'nai Brith. After graduation, Breibart taught at the High School of Charleston before moving to Rivers High School in 1957, where he became assistant principal. After retiring from teaching in 1976, Breibart began researching topics relating to Charleston's Jewish history, particularly Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE). Breibart gave talks and lectures on his findings and published numerous articles in KKBE's bulletin, the Charleston Jewish Journal, and newsletters of the Southern Jewish Historical Society (SJHS) and the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina (JHSSC). Sidney Breibart graduated from the College of Charleston and went on to attend medical school at Duke University, becoming a pediatrician and settling in Atlanta, Georgia. Jack Breibart graduated from the College of Charleston and went on to get a master's degree from the University North Carolina.
