Quality Control shall be by the Contractor and as required by the Contractor's Quality Plan and applicable Reference Standards. 1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver products in good condition. B. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation to prevent corrosion, deterioration and damage. C. Handle products with care to prevent damage. D. Storage: Store materials in a clean, dry area indoors out of the elements.\ 2.2 BENCHES A. Bench B-1 (see Plans): 1. The bench shall have the following characteristics: a. Steel bench with backrest. b. Welded seat and back. c. End frames: Cast iron bench supports with curved armrests. Each support shall have (2) integral mounting brackets at base. d. Center arm rest: Cast iron to match end frame style. e. Seat: 1/4 inch by 1-1/2 inch steel bars and 2-3/8 inch O.D. steel pipe. Back and seat to be one-piece continuous bars. The ends of the bars at each end shall curve around steel pipe. f. Fasteners: Stainless steel. g. Bracing: 1-1/16 inch O.D. steel pipe. h. Seat height: 17-1/16 inches. i. Width: 27-9/16 inches. j. Length: 6 feet. k. Mounting: Provide with 1/2 inch by 3-3/4 inch zinc plated anchor bolts. l. Finish: (2) Blast: Sandblast to a white finish. (3) Wash: Multiple stage wash system. (4) Primer: Zinc-rich primer. (5) Topcoat: Colored UV resistant polyester powder. (6) Curing: Oven cure for a minimum of twenty minutes to produce an average minimum film thickness of 3 mils. m. The bench shall have the following characteristics: a. Steel bench with backrest. b. Welded seat and back. c. Steel seat and back panels: 10 gauge HRPO steel with plasma cut grass design. d. e. End frames and armrests: 1/4 inch by 3 inch flat bar steel frame bolted together with stainless steel hardware. f. Bench frame: 1/4 inch thick steel angles welded to end frames. g. Mounting: Each leg shall have tabs for surface mounting with corrosion resistant anchor bolts. l. Finish: (2) Preparation and cleaning: (a) Brush, grind, fill or sandblast welded parts to remove carbon and prepare metal for cleaning and pre-treatment. (b) Clean using a heated wash to degrease and remove surface oils. (c) Apply zinc-phosphate pre-treatment. (3) Undercoat: (a) Apply oven-cured epoxy undercoat. (4) Finish: (a) Apply two coats of powdercoat, with oven-curing after each application. (b) Apply topcoat and oven cure to produce a minimum film thickness of 4 mils. m. The bench shall have the following characteristics: a. Steel bench with backrest. b. Welded seat and back. c. End frames: Two cast iron end bench supports with curved armrests. Each support shall have two 9/16-inch diameter pre-drilled holes for surface mounting. d. Center arm rest: Cast iron to match end frame style (does not extend beneath bench seat). e. Seat and Backrest: Horizontal 1/4 inch by 1-1/2 inch steel bars welded to four 1/2- inch thick steel plates (one at each end and two intermediate). 1-1/2 schedule 40 steel pipe at top of back and front of seat that connect to end frames with ½ x 2-1/2 stainless steel screws. Back and seat to be one-piece. f. Fasteners: Stainless steel. g. Seat height: 16-11/16 inches. h. Back height: 32 inches. i. Width: 27-5/16 inches. j. Length: 73 inches. Page 3 of 8

The bench shall have the following characteristics: a. Steel bench with backrest and one center divider. b. Steel seat and back panels: Panels are 0.179 thick ASTM A 1011 hot rolled pickled and oiled commercial steel type B, formed. Seat and back panels are bolted to end frames. Seat panels have a perforation pattern. Back panels are solid. c. End frames, armrests, and seat dividers: Type 319 ASTM B 26 aluminum sand castings. d. Seat height: 16-1/2 inches. e. Back height: 39 inches. f. Arm height: 24-3/8 inches. g. Width: 27-1/2 inches. h. Length: 77-1/2 inches. i. Mounting: Surface mounting Use threaded anchor bolts, threaded set screws, and anchoring adhesive. Refer to and follow manufacturer s specifications. j. The trash receptacle shall have the following characteristics: a. Welded trash receptacle. b. Mounting: Surface mount through integral tabs using non-corrosive hardware. c. Perforated metal sides: 11 gauge HRPO steel with 2 inch square holes, 1/4 inch radius corners, and minimum 2 inch square solid metal border. d. Lid: Fixed dome type lid of 11 gauge spun steel with minimum spin lines, 16-3/4 inch diameter with (2) 5 inch by 10-3/4 inch side openings. e. Liner: Linear low-density polyethylene of.100 inch nominal thickness with (8) large openings for clear visibility to trash within. f. Diameter: 16-3/4 inches. g. Height: 31-7/8 inches. h. Opening: Side opening with hinged door. i. Capacity: 30 gallon. j. Finish: (2) Preparation and cleaning: (a) Brush, grind, fill or sandblast welded parts to remove carbon and prepare metal for cleaning and pre-treatment. Lid: Fixed dome type lid of 11 gauge spun steel with minimum spin lines, 20-1/2 inch diameter with (4) 6-inch by 11- inch side openings. e. Liner: Linear low-density polyethylene of.100 inch nominal thickness with (8) large openings for clear visibility to trash within. f. Diameter: 20-1/2 inches. g. Height: 42 inches. h. Opening: Side opening with hinged door and latch. i. Capacity: 30 gallon. j. Finish: (2) Preparation and cleaning: (a) Brush, grind, fill or sandblast welded parts to remove carbon and prepare metal for cleaning and pre-treatment. Refer to and follow manufacturer s specifications. 2.4 BIKE STORAGE a. Limited three-year warranty following the date of Final Acceptance against defect in A. Bike Rack BR-1 (see Plans): 1. The bike rack shall have the following characteristics: a. Welded bike rack to accommodate two bikes. b. Center Post: 2 inch schedule 40 steel pipe. c. Ring: 1-1/2 inch O.D. 11 gauge steel tube. d. Mounting: Embedded in concrete per manufacturer s specifications. e. Overall height: 44 inches (10 inches embedded). f. Width: 16-1/2 inches g. (3) Wash: Multiple stage wash system. (4) Primer: Epoxy primer electrostatically applied. (5) Topcoat: Colored UV resistant polyester powder. (6) Curing: Oven cure for a minimum of twenty minutes to produce a minimum film thickness of 6 mils. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION a. Limited one-year warranty following the date of Final Acceptance against defect in A. Examine surfaces to receive site furnishings. Notify Engineer of conditions that would adversely affect installation or subsequent utilization of site furnishings. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. 3.2 FABRICATION AND FORMING A. General: Verify dimensions before proceeding with Work. Verify measurements at site. B. Coordinate finishes and colors with other Work. Obtain acceptance from the Engineer prior to fabrication. 3.3 PREPARATION A. Clean surfaces of all products thoroughly prior to installation. B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions. C. Ensure surfaces to receive site furnishings are clean, flat, and level. 3.4 INSTALLATION A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, and using the installation method described in the Plans and at locations indicated on the Plans. B. Install site furnishings level, plumb, square, accurately aligned, correctly located, and without warp. C. Embedded mounting: Place those site furnishings specified to be embedded by direct burying in accordance with manufacturer s instructions and the Plans. D. Surface mounting: Place those site furnishings specified to be surface mounted in accordance with manufacturer s instructions and the Plans. E. Repair minor damages to finish in accordance with manufacturer s instructions and as approved by Engineer. Page 7 of 8
F. Remove and replace damaged components that cannot be successfully repaired as determined by Engineer. 3.5 PROTECTION A. Protect installed products until completion of project. 3.6 CLEANING A. Clean up debris, trash, and unused material, and remove from site. END OF Page 8 of 8
