2 Power contactors for AC and DC, Series CT Owing to a new blowout technology, CT Series contactors can be used in almost any AC or DC railway network, even in countries where the normal tolerances are exceeded. The single pole contactor ensures low-wear and reliable switching of both extremely low and very high loads. Double and triple pole styles are being developed. Especially robust and environmentally friendly materials, from plastics featuring low smoke and low content of toxic gases up to cadmium-free contact tips, are used for the CT1000. It has been tested and approved by independent laboratories. Features Compact, rugged design 2 breaking capacity levels, 4 current ratings Double-break contacts, (normally open) and cadmium-free contact tips 1, 2, and 3 pole versions Easy maintenance: Easy inspection and replacement of main contact tips Easy replacement of arc chute Drive system with coil tolerance according to railway standards, no economy circuit required! Functional insulation for main circuit Basic insulation between main circuit and protective earth Reinforced insulation between main circuit and control circuit / auxiliary circuit and protective earth Applications Main contactor for: traction motors convertors inverters for auxiliary equipment Contactor for: field circuits of motors conventional resistor based traction units (retrofit) starters and compressor motors Power switch for heating circuits Contactor for a host of industrial applications Standards IEC 60077: Railway applications Electric equipment for rolling stock EN 50124-1: Railway applications Insulation coordination Part 1: Basic requirements Clearances and creepage distances for all electrical and electronic equipment Ordering code Example: CT1130/04 H 110ET-00 Series CT11 1 pole NO contactor CT12 2 pole NO contactor CT13 3 pole NO contactor Nominal voltage 15 U n = 1,500 V 30 U n = 3,000 V Conv. thermal current 02 I th = 200 A* 1 04 I th = 400 A 08 I th = 800 A* 2 14 I th = 1,400 A* 1 Mounting position H Horizontal V Vertical Coil voltage 24 / 36 / 72 / 110 V DC Coil tolerance E -30 % +25 % Coil suppression T Suppressor diode Auxiliary switches, number and type 00 1x S870* 3 (a 1 ) 1x S870* 3 (b 0 ) M3 screw-type terminals 2x S826 a L* 4 01 1x S870* 3 (a 1 ) 1x S870* 3 (b 0 ) Flat tabs 6.3 x 0.8 2x S826 a L* 4 03 4x S826 a L* 4 M3 screw-type terminals 04 4x S826 a L* 4 Flat tabs 6.3 x 0.8 * 1 Series planned * 3 See also catalogue D70 * 2 Series in development * 4 See also catalogue D26 Presented in this catalogue are only stock items which can be supplied in short delivery time. 4 Maintenance instructions Safety instructions Except for the main contacts and the arc chute, CT1000 Series contactors are maintenance free. The design allows easy access to all parts which require maintenance. So when installing the contactor, make sure that there is enough space to remove and replace the arc chute with ease and that the main contacts become accessible for inspection. The switching device meets the requirements of basic insulation. In addition to that, the bar onto which the drive of the contactor is mounted should be earthed in a vibration resistant way. The contactor has unprotected live parts and carries a label that warns of the hazard. This caution must be observed and the label must not be removed in any way. The required clearance to other live parts and earth is also to be observed as well as the safety regulations of the applicable standards. Mounting instructions Start up Before initial start up make sure that: the arc chute is mounted properly and the red levers are in locked position the contactor is earthed (PE terminal on mounting plate) Release button Indicator arc chute left: open position, right: locked position Important: Make sure arc chamber is latched properly in final position : Caution cted s unprote containrts. Caution: Parallel connection with a simple diode will override the existing coil suppression. Taking off the arc chute: 1. Push both release buttons in the direction indicated by the arrow and hold them in this position. 2. Move all four levers for unlocking the arc chute in the direction indicated by the arrow. 3. The arc chute incorporating the stationary main contacts can now be lifted from the contactor. Mounting the arc chute: 1. Mount the arc chute onto the magnetic drive. Note: The arc chute has keys on one side to fit into slots on the corresponding side of the contactor. So you cannot mount it the wrong way round. 2. Move all four levers for unlocking the arc chute into the original position. 3. Check: The arc chute is locked properly, if all four red indicator levers do not show above the casing.
