PANATRIM AND UNITRIM aluminium sign systems spec FAST TO FABRICATE, EASY TO INSTALL AND UNBEATABLY COST EFFECTIVE - THATS THE COMBINATION THAT HAS MADE PANATRIM ONE OF THE WORLDS MOST POPULAR AND WIDELY USED ALUMINIUM EXTRUSIONS FOR NON-ILLUMINATED PANEL SIGNS. Comprising a range of attractive profiles designed to meet 3mm, 5mm or 10mm panel requirements, the system offers a range of styles to suit every application. The face of the finished Panatrim sign frame is completely unblemished by screws. Panels can be entered from the front, making PanaTrim ideal for awkward installations such as under canopies, between pillars and next to other signs. PanaTrim may be fixed directly to most reasonably flat surface without structural supports. Panels are held in place by a simple acrylic hanging bar and in multi-panel applications, panel sections are joined together with Panalocks. PanaTrim has been tested and approved by several of the world s leading manufacturers of acrylic sheet and the safety and effectiveness of the system have been proved over many years of use worldwide. PanaTrim profiles are available in anodosed or powdercoat painted in a choice of colours and are ideal for both interior and exterior use.

PANATRIM AND UNITRIM ALUMINIUM SIGN SYSTEMS Pg. 2 Frame Fabrication Cut and mitre extrusions to length and depth of sign required. Screw top, bottom and end sections to facia or background. On single panel signs, screw on top, bottom and one end section only. Enter the panel either from the front or side and fix remaining end section using a corner bracket. Using Corner Bracket 407 Right angle corner brackets are available for fixing corners on single panel signs, or for muti-panel signs where panels are required to be entered from the side. The plain brackets ( 407) are fixed as illustrated and can be secured to the frame profiles with self-tapping screws. Using Corner Angle/Panel Tensioner 413 Panatrim 5 and Panatrim Major incorporate location channels to speed fabrication. The channels will accept the combined corner angle and panel tensioners ( 413) which hold panels closely together and at the same time allow for normal panel expansion and contraction. The corner angles incorporate holes which accept No 8 x 3/8 stainless steel self tapping panhead screws. Screws MUST be used at the top and bottom of the frame but may be omitted from the end if desired. Holes 4mm should be drilled 20mm from the corners of the sign frame on the line of the profile. Panel dimensions Width 142 - overall frame width minus 42mm 162 - overall frame width minus 42mm Using Corner Brackets 620/621 Knock-in corner angle brackets are also available for use with 142 and 162. Bracket 620 should be used for two corners. Bracket 621 accepts a screw fixing and should be used on corners where the side profile is to be removable. Depth 142 - overall frame depth minus 30mm 162 - overall frame depth minus 30mm

PANATRIM AND UNITRIM ALUMINIUM SIGN SYSTEMS Pg. 3 Panel Preparation The cutting sizes of panels shown below are deductions to be made from the overall outside measurements of the completed fabrication frame. REAR HANGING can be useful for larger sign panels. The hanging strips should be made from 12mm x 5mm acrylic, cemented 13mm from the top edge of the panel. NOTE: When using 413 corner angles, see above panel sizes. The hanging strips should be made from 12mm x 5mm acrylic, cemented along the top front edge of the panels stopping approximately 50mm (2 ) short of panel ends. 102 33mm 29mm 119/ 196 / 197 33mm 40mm 126 30mm 30mm 142 33mm 40mm 142 (FRONT LOAD) 44mm 40mm 162 40mm 51mm The above multi-panel sizes are for singns having two panels with 10mm (3/8 ) rebated joints in the closed position. On signs with more than two panels a standard cutting length can be set at 20mm (3/4 ) shorter than the overall length of the completed frame (subject to using 10mm (3/8 ) rebates and to making an allowance in the total lengths of the sign for the expansion of the acrylic. The cutting depths of the panels will remain as above. Acrylic panels with 10mm x 3.5mm (½ x 1/8 ) rebates in position Panalocks Panalocks are injection moulded clips which lock the panel joints together but allow expansion to take place at the ends of the sign.to fix Panalocks, lay the panel on the work bench with the rebated joints completely closed and cement Panalocks in position (as illustrated in sketch) Enter panels into the extrusion in the normal manner. To engage Panalocks, lift appropriate panel slightly. An alternative method of securing panels is to bond strips of acrylic 100mm (4 ) shorter than the overall depth of the panels x 50mm (2 ) wide vertically on to the backs of the panels overlapping the joints by approximately 25mm (1 ). The panel joints are then secured by small screws through the face of the panel into the overlap. The screws can be painted to match the colour of the panels. Back or Front The choice is yours Like all the best ideas, Panatrim wins because of it s simplicity and versatility. Panels can be hung on the front or rear hanging bars with complete safety.

For wind pressures of 30lb per sq. ft. reduce panel depth by 10% Panel Fitting Signs with two panels Working from left, enter first panel into top section at an angle. Slide panel fully into left hand section and enter panel to make up complete sign. Finally, adjust panels equally behind both end sections. (Lateral movement of the panels can be eliminated by pin-pointing one panel with a self tapping screw down through the top member of the extrusion approximately 50mm (2 ) to one side of panel joint). Signs with three or more panels Enter left hand panel followed by right hand panel. Finally enter remaining panels drawing joints together as each panel is entered. IMPORTANT: Bracing larger panels The signmaker must use discretion in the consideration of extra panel bracing for signs with large panels or where the sign may be exposed to severe weather conditions. We suggest a 13mm (½ ) Strip of acrylic be cemented along the bottom front edge of deep panels to ensure absolute security. Note: that if this method of bracing is used, panels must be entered from the side of the frame. Deep panels may also be braced by cutting 13mm (½ ) strips of 5mm (1/4 ) acrylic and cementing them edge-on to the back of the panels in a vertical direction stopping 50mm (2 ) short of the top and bottom of the panels. 5mm acrylic strip bonded edge-on and cut 100mm shorter than the overall depth of the panel. 13mm x 5mm acrylic strip bonded to the bottom front edge of the panel.

Incorporate as many moulded acrylic panels as you like to illuminate sections of the UniTrim sign UniTrim Assembly Instructions Standard UniTrim For accuracy and a neat finish, insert bead sections into body sections and tape together before cutting. Mitre cut all sides to the required dimensions. Insert corner angles ( 447) into each corner channel then drill and rivet in position. Fix the frame to a wall or other flat surface by means of screw fixings through the rear leg of the body section. If supports are required, these should be cut from ( 218) support section to lengths 24mm less than the overall height of the frame and then drilled and riveted to the rear leg of the body. UniTrim Light UniTrim Light is designed for smaller non-illuminated panel signs and is fabricated in the same way as described left. Use corner angles ( 446) for Securing the corners of the frame. Panels The face panel should be made 25mm less in both depth and width than the outside dimensions of the frame. An arcylic hanging bar 12mm x 5mm should be cemented to the top back edge of the panel. Beads are fixed in position using No. 6 countersunk head self-tapping screws secured in 3mm diameter holes drilled at 32mm from each corner and at approximately 600mm centres around the sign.

The system combines great strength, ease of fabrication and a choice of seven finishing beads, Face panels up to 6mm in width can be accommodated and panels are suspended from a front hanging bar for complete safety and security. Although the body section is inherently very strong, extra rigidity can be provided by vertical supports which are simply riveted into position in the rear channel of the body. Supports can also be used for mounting fluorescent lamps and control gear. UniTrim Light is a lighter section for making smaller panel signs. It shares the same features as UniTrim Standard and can be used with the full range of finishing beads. UniTrim is available anodised to British Standards in a choice of colours and can be supplied in mill or in a variety of powdercoat paint finishes.
