Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 3 of 17 1 GENERAL 1.1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION SCOPE This Rapp Bomek Fire Door Installation Procedure covers the standard range of door types delivered and also all Fire Rated, Non Rated and Louvered Door s where not otherwise specifically noted. 1.2 INSTALLATION PERSONNEL Experienced personnel must execute door installation. We recommend workers from our Fire Door Fabrication and Installation Department. Installation should as a minimum be supervised by Rapp Bomek personnel. 1.3 INSTALLATION EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS The following equipment and materials is normally necessary, and shall be made available throughout the whole installation work period. Supplied by installation contractor, if not specifically agreed otherwise. Lifting gear, including shackles and wires. A non inflammable tarpaulin to protect against spreading of grinding and welding sparks. Grinding tools and consumables. Complete welding equipment ( Ampr.AC) and approved rods and rod heating boxes (Welded Door s only). Lighting. Ladders, scaffolding etc. Fire resistant mastic sealant and/ or compriband for sealing of opening between frame and bulkhead (can be supplied by RB on request): Miscellaneous steel profiles for use in shimming, aligning and levelling of bulkheads and floors during door installation. 1.4 RECOMMENDATION FOR BOLTED INSTALLATION OF DOORS After many years of experience with welded and bolted installation of doors (both hinged and sliding) during the site installation phase, Rapp Bomek strongly recommends bolted installation as the best and cheapest method for the following reasons: During welding of the door frames to the bulkhead there will be considerable heat which will warp the frame and put it out of alignment. This means there will be a problem with the door leaf not fitting and closing properly in the frame. This is not a problem with a bolted installation since no distortion will occur. Our experience is that the bulkheads are often not 100% aligned and the bulkhead therefore has to be rectified prior to installing the door frame by welding.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 4 of 17 This is not normally necessary for bolted installation since shims can be used between the frame and bulkhead to compensate for the misalignment of the bulkhead. This is an easy solution and much quicker for the yard than having to re align the bulkhead. Bolted installation also means that a door can be adjusted or replaced at a later stage during construction or operation of the platform. There often occur distortions in the module walls and bulkheads during module lifting and the bolted installation ensures that the doors can be re aligned after such module lifting, this will not be possible (very difficult and expensive) with a welded door installation. Welding of frames to bulkhead also damages the surface finish on the frames which will have to be re blasted and the paint repaired. There is no such damage during bolted installation. Use of bolted installation avoids the need for hot work and associated safety requirements which have to be followed for welded installation. 2 DELIVERY STATUS The Rapp Bomek doors are delivered as complete units in accordance with specifications. Certain parts are delivered «not installed» for the following reasons: Parts such as door handles, lever arms, etc. which would otherwise be damaged during transport/ unpacking. Items which are to be installed by yard e.g. fixing bolts for doors frame to bulkhead. Items, which have to be installed, and adjusted/ tested after installation of door and frame e.g. gas tight seals, door closer's, etc. Pneumatic equipment parts that cannot be fixed on door leaf and/ or frame e.g. control box, push buttons, etc. All items not installed are defined as shipped loose and listed on packing lists. Such items are packed in boxes and delivered and packed together with each door. Customers must report any missing parts or damage to Rapp BOMEK A/S immediately on receipt of doors. At the installation site, each door shall be thoroughly checked for damage of any sort to surface, structure or parts. Any damage shall be reported to Rapp Bomek and should be repaired prior to installation. 3 INSTALLATION SITE PREPARATION Each door is marked with a reference number, which on architectural drawings identifies where the door is to be installed. The door installation is in strict accordance with door architectural plan and door number marking. The door opening shall be properly measured and checked against the drawings by the installation supervisor. All welding, bolting areas shall be checked with respect to alignments, both vertical, horizontal and diagonal.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 5 of 17 The installation area shall be properly cleaned and cleared before commencement of work. The installation contractor shall ensure that other work will not interfere, and that traffic through the installation area is reduced to a minimum. The door installation supervisor shall ensure that all items that could be a hindrance to handling of the door during installation, or items that may be damaged during the installation work period are carefully removed from the area. All previously installed panels, flooring, electrical equipment s etc., shall be properly covered to ensure that any damage from door installation work is avoided. The installation contractor shall be responsible for proper system for door transportation and lifting of the door into the installation zone. The installation supervisor shall ensure that Hot Work Permit is approved, where necessary, prior to commencement of work, and that Platform Safety Instructions are strictly complied with.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 6 of 17 4 INSTALLATION OF HINGED TYPE 4.1 BOLTED: SINGLE & DOUBLE DOOR TYPE Structural opening size alignment and diagonals to be checked. Deviations > 6mm. must be corrected prior to door installation (see page 10, fig.1) Gasket between doorframe and wall structure to be glued to doorframe. Heatex gasket to be used for all Fire Rated Doors. Neoprene gasket to be used for Non Rated Doors. Neoprene sealing to be used under threshold. For installation of gasket, (see Page 11, fig.3). Where opening between deck and door threshold is uneven (max. 6mm); use of compriband and fire retardant mastic is recommended. On completion of frame installation, threshold should be sealed on both sides and 200mm up the sides of the frame with fire retardant sealant (see page 11, fig.3). Complete door to be lifted into position in wall opening and a hole in each corner is drilled, (see Page 10,fig.2), and bolt and nut is installed with washers. Unevenness and openings up to 6mm between frame and bulkhead to be filled with ceramic fibre insulation and sealed with fire retardant mastic after all bolting is completed. After fixing these four bolts, alignment and function of door to be checked. Frame must be adjusted to the door leaf and checked continually during installation. The frames are pre drilled by RB. Drilling can normally be done through frame and bulkhead in one operation. Max. cc for bolts is 300mm (taking into account position of hinges, etc) (see page 11, fig.3). The frame is now bolted to the bulkhead; bolting sequence should be done diagonally to minimise frame distortion. If possible the nuts should be tack welded to the structure. As an alternative to tack welding nuts the use of a second nut (lock nut) is acceptable. This will enable adjustment of frame at later stage without cladding etc. having to be removed. Check all clearances against the relevant drawings. All seals should be glued in place. Hinges to be greased with high quality grease. Door closer's installed in accordance with manufacturer s instructions enclosed with the door. Adjustment of the doorcloser shown on page 17. Hinges, locks and latches to be checked and adjusted and the door to be function tested. Temporary brackets and spacers used during erection to be removed. 4.2 WELDED: SINGLE & DOUBLE DOOR TYPE. It should be noted that continuous weld is not recommended by Rapp Bomek. Aluminium hinged doors should not be welded in place. Care must be taken generally when welding to ensure compliance with RAPP BOMEK recommended welding sequence. Wall opening size, straightness and diagonals to be checked. Unevenness and distortion over 6mm must be corrected. Unless specifically agreed otherwise.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 7 of 17 Door and frame is erected in wall opening and fixed (provisionally) in place by using small steel brackets or tack welding. Clearances, distortions etc., between wall and frame up to 6mm to be corrected by using shims, infix plate (of suitable quality material) in order to minimise distortion after welding. HINGED SIDE: The frame is finally fixed in wall opening, first by tack welding the corners and in the area around the hinges. The door is then function tested and if acceptable, the frame is tack welded at 300mm CCs around the perimeter. Frame must be continually adjusted to the door leaf during installation. OPPOSITE HINGED SIDE: It is recommended in order to hold frame in position (to avoid buckling) that the frame be tack welded to wall. Gaps between the frame and wall should be filled in with shims, spacers. Ref. details Page 12, fig.7. HINGED SIDE: Frame to be tack welded to bulkhead (see welding sequence page 13, fig.8). Tack weld on each side of hinge approx 80mm from centre of hinge. Distance between each tack weld should not exceed 300mm and be distributed as indicated. OPPOSITE HINGED SIDE: It is recommended that opening between frame and bulkhead is sealed with suitable mastic compound to stop ingress of water and dirt. Larger openings can be covered with steel plate. All clearances must be checked against relevant drawings. All seals to be glued in place. The closing mechanism is examined and adjusted. The hinges must be greased. Door closer's installed in accordance with manufacturer s instructions enclosed with the door. Adjustment of the doorcloser shown on page 17. Temporary brackets/ stiffeners used during installation must be removed and made good afterwards.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 8 of 17 4.3 PROCEDURE FOR GASKET/SEAL INSTALLATION SILICA FIBRE GASKETS The gasket channel should first be cleaned with steel brush, further using «Brake cleaner» on painted surfaces. When the gasket is cut, make sure to protect the ends from fraying by using tape. Apply glue (Heatex) in gasket channel and pressed the gasket in place. (Do not stretch the gasket). When jointing gaskets together this should be done preferably on top of door leaf and by applying glue to both ends (see page 16, fig. 15 16.) Remember to stir the glue properly before use. GAS TIGHT/WEATHER TIGHT SEAL TYPE B407 OR U PROFIL B For hinged doors this seal is pressed and glued in place together with the silica fibre gasket. Glue type Klebefix superglu. The gasket must have a good connection to the frame before glue is applied. Note that doors only primed (later painted by yard) the gasket to be shipped loose and fixed after painting. Ref. see page 15 fig.13 14. NEOPRENE/CERAMIC STRIP 3 X 30 MM Apply glue to back of frame; allow for curing, and erect strip in position. Holes need to be made in the strips for pre drilled Frames. Glue type Heatex for ceramic and type Klebefix superglu for neoprene. Sealing Fire retardant mastic is attached with the door, one tube for the hinged door. IMPORTANT G.A. Drawings should always be at hand when erecting gaskets and seals since there may be special instructions given. Due to heavy work during the commissioning period we recommend the vertical panic bar and key cylinder to be installed as late as possible. 4.4 USE OF LOCKTITE Use of loctite 577 on pneumatic parts. Clean the parts and use sufficient Loctite to fill the area complete. The parts can be handled after ca. 15 30 min. and can be used after 45 min.

Rapp Bomek Heavy & Medium Duty Fire Doors page 9 of 17 4.5 PNEUMATIC HINGED DOOR Rapp Bomek hinged doors with pneumatic operation are delivered with following equipment shipped loose: cylinder and lever arms control box push button valve air tank with ancillary fittings ancillary piping and fittings for installation (depending on agreed scope of work) safety strip (horizontal) shock absorber lock release cylinder See separate document for commissioning, maintenance and faultfinding of the pneumatic system. It is important to use GA drawings and flow sheets to establish scope of erection for each individual project. 4.6 NORSOK REFERENCE: NORSOK C 002, 7.12 Frames: Door frames shall be installed, as appropriate, by either bolting through air tight isolation gaskets, or by a continuous fillet weld all round. Frames shall be reinforced at hinges, locks and closer device positions. Detailing shall minimise galvanic corrosion. To reduce transmission of forces from the bulkhead into the door frame, which may affect proper alignment and operation of doors, the maximum plate buckling at the perimeter of the cut out shall be 5 mm along a straight edge. Where buckling is in excess of this, or where required for structural reasons, the cut out shall be terminated at a welded angle profile into which the door frame may be welded or bolted.
