Inspiration The Textile Galleries are a large and important ingredient of every Knitting & Stitching Show, and Edinburgh will be no exception. Michala Gyetvai Enchanted Landscapes Michala is an award winning, widely exhibited artist who works from studies in pastel and then paints with fibres on old dyed blankets, moving around the piece like a dancer inhabiting an imaginary landscape. Art Quilts in The Netherlands With a strong tradition of quilting, The Netherlands has become home to some of the world s leading art quilters. Art historian and author Henk Lijding has brought together a stunning collection of some of the best exampes of 2D and 3D quilts especially for the Edinburgh show. Fiona Rutherford Fiona Rutherford Fragments With work held in collections at the V&A and the Arts Council, this is an excellent opportunity to see a whole gallery of work by Edinburgh based tapestry artist Fiona Rutherford. Edge Featuring new work from some of Scotland s finest contemporary textile artists, alongside highlights from their recent between myth and l(edge)nd and cutting: edge exhibitions. Quilters Guild Collection Seeing Red: Turkey Red Quilts The Quilters Guild has brought together a selection of striking heritage quilts from its collection showcasing some of the finest examples of the fabric s use. Hanne Asbey Hanne has been selected by the Quilters Guild to represent its Scottish members at the inaugural show. Pet Jacobs Helen Pailing Helen Pailing A collection of objects from Helen s #workshopassemblage series. The objects have been created using salvaged waste materials with stitch in the broadest sense of the word used to join the components together. Joanna Kinnersly-Taylor Perpetual Mapping Joanna s work has been exhibited widely, both in the UK and abroad, often with the 62 Group of Textile Artists of which she is a member. By Road Access to the Royal Highland Centre is from A8/Airport roundabout on to Eastfield Road. From there signposts provide directions to the venue along Fairview Road onto Ingliston Road. There are over 20,000 parking spaces with a number of accessible spaces for wheelchair users. By Bus From Edinburgh, Lothian Buses run regular services including the 48, 35 and the Airport Express (100). All buses run regularly and drop-off close to the Centre itself.
