Configuring JSTOR collections in the EBSCO LinkSource Link Resolver: a quick reference guide The LinkSource link resolver from EBSCO is software that uses OpenURL data to provide context-sensitive item-level linking among the various online resources in a library collection. EDS, the EBSCO discovery service and other discovery services such as Summon and Primo--use your existing LinkSource link resolver to determine your institutional holdings and to provide full-text linking from items in the discovery service. To ensure effective linking to JSTOR content you will need to activate your subscribed JSTOR collections in the EBSCO A-to-Z Knowledge Base. Once the EBSCO A-to-Z Knowledge Base is populated with your holdings and LinkSource is set-up to retrieve full text, you can activate linking in your Discovery Service. Important Note: This guide has been developed to help libraries configure LinkSource to most effectively leverage their investment in content on the JSTOR platform. Please follow these guidelines carefully to ensure that all your licensed content on JSTOR is properly surfaced for your users. Our research shows that the appropriate configuration of LinkSource is an important determinant in the discoverability of the content your library licenses from JSTOR. Further, our research indicates that setting the link ordering priorities to promote JSTOR is the best way to ensure your users connect reliably to JSTOR. We encourage you to strongly consider using this option (described later in the document), as we feel it will provide a quality user experience. Activate JSTOR collections in the A-to-Z with LinkSource Knowledge Base Activate the JSTOR collections in your A-to-Z with LinkSource profile to match the collections to which you subscribe. If you purchase your JSTOR collections through EBSCO, they will automatically be activated for use in LinkSource. However, if you order these through another agency or directly from JSTOR, you will need to manually add the collection once it is made available within the A-to-Z with LinkSource Knowledge Base. Configuring JSTOR collections in the EBSCO LinkSource Link Resolver: a quick reference guide 1

For subscribers of JSTOR archive and primary source collections: i. Activate the JSTOR collections to which you subscribe. This can be done through the Title Wizard. For assistance with the Title Wizard, see the tutorials available from the EBSCO Support Site: http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=7351 ii. New titles that are added to these collections will automatically be activated. For Books at JSTOR and Current Scholarship Program (CSP) participants: i. Activate the JSTOR collection(s) to which you subscribe. This can be done through the Title Wizard. For assistance with the Title Wizard, see the tutorials available from the EBSCO Support Site: http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=7351 ii. Unless you have licensed the complete collections you will need to deselect the titles that are not in your collection. To select titles individually via the Title Wizard see the Support FAQ at http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=7351, or upload a holdings file using the upload process. For details on the upload process see the Support FAQ Uploading Titles to EBSCO A-to- Z See http://support.ebscohost.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=5903 iii. When new titles are added by JSTOR, or the library, the collection will not be updated, as the package is custom to the library. All new additions to the collection will need to be added through the Title Wizard. Set link ordering priorities for LinkSource LinkSource customers may select the order in which CustomLinks are displayed on the LinkSource menu when an item is available from more than one provider. For instructions on ordering your LinkSource CustomLinks please see the following: http://support.ebscohost.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=1467. Activate JSTOR collections in your discovery service If you are using the EBSCO Discovery Service, EDS, together with LinkSource then you will need to activate the relevant datasets in EDS; but no further action is required to set your specific JSTOR holdings information as this will automatically be uploaded from LinkSource to EDS on a regular basis. For further information on the activation of JSTOR datasets in EDS, see the JSTOR Quick Reference guide to EDS. However if you are using another indexed-based library discovery tool such as Ex Libris Primo or ProQuest Summon, then: Configuring JSTOR collections in the EBSCO LinkSource Link Resolver: a quick reference guide 2

a) Ensure all subscribed JSTOR collections are activated in your discovery service. b) Ensure your holdings are published for use by your discovery service. For details on this, see the JSTOR quick reference guide for your discovery service. Need Help? If you need help accessing the content on the JSTOR platformor have any questions, you can contact JSTOR Support at discoveryservices@ithaka.org or EBSCO LinkSource Support at http://support.ebsco.com October 2014 Complete List of JSTOR Offerings for Libraries This is the definitive list of JSTOR products. III includes all primary source collections on JSTOR: Global Plants, Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa, African Cultural Heritage Sites and Landscapes, and 19th-Century British Pamphlets. **Early Journal Content is not actually a JSTOR collection. In 2011, JSTOR made journal content published prior to 1923 in the United States, and prior to 1870 elsewhere, freely available to anyone, anywhere in the world. See http://about.jstor.org/service/early-journal-content-0. ***Discipline packages of Current Scholarship titles In 2011-2013, JSTOR sold collections of Current Scholarship titles aligned to the Arts & Sciences I through XII Archive s. JSTOR no longer offers these collections. Discovery partners may retain these as targets if this helps their customers. JSTOR continues to offer Current Scholarship titles grouped by discipline. KBART-compliant title lists are at http://about.jstor.org/content/jstor-title-lists. ****No metadata are available at this time. *****The Sustainability s Sets are not comprised of books with publication dates from a given year or given set of years. For example, Sustainability I might have a book with a publication date of 2005. For all other collections (except Sustainability 2), all the books in the set have the publications year or years that are in the name of the set. ******This is not the name of an actual collection, just a convenient target for libraries who mass order Books at JSTOR. 1) There is no product called JSTOR Complete, but some providers add it as a target for the convenience of librarians. We recommend that it not be used, since there is no simple way to define what products would be covered by this label. 2) JSTOR also offers several information services for individuals, which can be seen at http://about.jstor.org/individuals. None of these offerings should appear in partners linking and discovery services. Configuring JSTOR collections in the EBSCO LinkSource Link Resolver: a quick reference guide 8
