MCOM 215 Basic Photography (Digital), Briar Cliff University Automate Contact Sheet and Web Gallery in Adobe Photoshop CS Transferring Images from Nikon D70 1. Create new folder on the desktop. Name folder with the subject of images or date 2. Remove Compact Flash card from camera 3. Insert Compact Flash into card reader 4. Copy all images from Compact Flash card to folder 5. Burn all images to CD (name the CD by subject or date use 2004_08_06 format) Check to insure coping was successful 6. Place your name and the title (subject or date of images if you want) including the image # s on CD (DSC_001- DSC_151). This is now your master copy, protect and keep it safe. Keep in jewel case or other protective case. To make contact sheet in Adobe Photoshop CS 1. Place all images (from one or more CD s) into one folder on the desktop 2. Open Adobe Photoshop CS 3. 4. Select Folder from Use menu 5. Browse to select the folder with the images you want to make a contact sheet for. 6. Make sure document settings are as indicated below 7. Set Thumbnails as indicated below 8. Check file name as caption 9. Set Font to Ariel 10. Set Font size to 12 pt 11. Click OK Each sheet will have 30 images on each page. 12. Name (subject or date (use 2004_08_06 format) will work) and save each to your network space in a contact sheet folder 13. When you printing contact sheets use the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 printer, and low quality paper. To Making a Web Gallery Adobe Photoshop CS 1. Use 16 to 20 (must include at least 10 of the 12 images submitted during the term) high resolution images. 2. Create a folder on the desktop called portfolio with the selected images included. 3. Create a second folder on the desktop and name that folder your last name space portfolio (example: crowley portfolio). Creating Document Information 4. Open Adobe Photoshop CS 5. c. Select the image in the preview window (it will the have a blue box around the image d. Select Information tab, then select more information e. For each image copy the following information from Nikon software to Photoshop. i. Nikon D70 ii. 2004/09/18 19:07:20.2 iii. JPEG (8-bit) Fine iv. Image Size: Large (2000 x 3008) v. 6. After opening the image in Photoshop, go to the file menu and select File info (see below) 7. The window below will open. 8. Fill in Document Title: Mary by her new SUV 9. Author: Michael Crowley 10. Description: Past the information form step 5. here 11. Select Copyrighted under Copyright Status 12. In Copyright Notice: enter Copyright 2004 Michael Crowley 13. 4. Preview in browser (Internet Explorer) 5. Select Image Info to make sure all information is there. 6. Burn two copies on CD s one for submission (it will not be returned) and one for yourself 7.
