Papadopoulos Counsel Charleston, W.Va. Nicholas S. Preservati Counsel Charleston, W.Va. Robert H. Wall Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Wall joined Spilman in early 2014 with more than a decade of experience in estate planning and tax law. A true leader in these areas of law, he regularly advises high-net-worth individuals on estate and tax planning matters and represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service. He also assists businesses and individuals in matters such as acquisitions, divestitures, business combinations and entity selection. Admitted to practice in North Carolina and Georgia, he earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University, his law degree from the University of Alabama, and his L.L.M. from the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program. He recently was named the CLE Volunteer of the Year by the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation. Mr. Duranti brings valuable depth to Spilman s shale gas services with more than 40 years of experience serving clients in the coal and oil and gas industries. His practice focuses on real estate and other corporate and transactional work for coal and oil and gas clients. He previously worked as an attorney in the Environmental Protection Division of the West Virginia Attorney General s office and as an administrative hearing examiner for the West Virginia Department of Energy. Mr. Smith joins Spilman with more than 25 years of experience assisting clients in patent law and other intellectual property matters. His practice focuses mainly on patent protection and infringement litigation in the technical areas of electrical, mechanical, and computer hardware and software. Following completion of his undergraduate education in electrical engineering, Mr. Smith held various electrical engineering positions and then went on to earn his law degree from Duquesne University. Mr. Papadopoulos joins Spilman s corporate law department, where he will focus on assisting clients in general corporate and commercial law matters and in federal, state and local tax matters. With 25 years of experience in these areas of law, he is the current Chair of the West Virginia State Bar s Committee on State and Federal Taxation. He earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Preservati is a well-known West Virginia attorney who will be assisting clients at Spilman in energy law matters and complex litigation. He represents energy clients in all facets of energy litigation, including highstakes matters. Prior to joining Spilman, Mr. Preservati led a very successful practice at Preservati Law Offices. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
