Submissions: The exhibition is open to all amateur and professional photographers worldwide. Entries must be submitted via the online entry form. All final work must be submitted as digital files. b. Categories: Each entrant can submit up to four images in each of the 3 categories: i. Open (Traditional); ii. Open (Creative):; iii.nature (See definitions, Rule h) Images entered into one category MUST NOT be duplicated in another category. The selectors will be particularly looking for new work that has not been previously seen in exhibition. Any image previously accepted in an RPS International Exhibition is not eligible. Nature images will only be accepted in the Nature category. c. Images: Images must originate as photographs (image captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. Images may be scanned from traditional film by the entrant or a third party to create a digital file. Subject to the requirements within each category, images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise by the maker, and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates. Adjustments and cleaning may be performed to make the digital file match the original film image. d. Digital file requirements: Entries must be submitted in.jpg format and should be at maximum quality and no larger than 2Mb, preferably without borders. Images will be projected for judging in the srgb colour space at 1400 x 1050 pixels. For a landscape format image (horizontal), the maximum width should be 1400 pixels. For a portrait format image (vertical) the maximum height should be 1050 pixels. Smaller sized images are acceptable but will be displayed against a black background, at the size provided.

Please check that you have not exceeded the maximum size before submission. e. Copyright and Reproduction: The Royal Photographic Society, PSA and FIAP accept no liability for any misuse or breach of copyright by an entrant. The copyright of all submitted work, including full control of use, must be at the disposal of the entrant. All photographic content in an image must be the sole work of the photographer and by virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own (aliases are not permitted). The copyright of all entries remains with the photographers. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant licences The Society to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the Exhibition and The Society, including the Exhibition CD Rom and The Society website. f. Compliance: Images must be the original work of the entrant and must comply with the rules and definitions. Any entrants who are the subject of international photographic sanctions or are found to have plagiarised an image will be disqualified. The Society reserves the right to request the original camera file or high resolution scan or RAW image file for authentication. g. Titles: Each image must have a unique title with no identification of the photographer in the title or embedded in the image when uploading. Titles should be listed on the entry form exactly as they are to appear in the catalogue listing, if selected. Words such as Untitled and No title are not acceptable, nor are camera capture file names or titles consisting only of numbers. h. Definitions: i. Open (Traditional): A traditional photograph maintains the original image content with minimal adjustments, which should not alter the reality of the scene and should appear natural. It is a single image produced in camera with limited post camera processing. Acceptable techniques post camera include adjusting in all or part of the image: levels, curves, brightness, contrast, colour balance, tone, straightening, removing blemishes, burning / dodging, cropping and conversion of colour images to monochrome. No other post camera processing is permitted. No moving, adding or removing any elements apart from eliminating minor blemishes such as dust marks. No post camera HDR, filters, or any other effects. The Society reserves the right to view the original camera file and EXIF data. ii. Open (Creative): A Creative image is one noticeably different from an image as viewed through the camera lens. The submitted image must have originated as image or images captured by media sensitive to light or other electromagnetic radiation. All elements of the image must have been captured or generated by the creator of the image. The use of third party images such as clip art is not allowed. All creative techniques including combined images and montages and HDR are acceptable. iii. Nature: Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archaeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation. The story telling value of a

photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks, adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus-stacking and dodging/burning. Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are allowed. Stitched images are not permitted. All allowed adjustments must appear natural to the viewer. Colour images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. Infrared images, either direct captures or derivations, are not allowed. Images entered in Nature sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above can have landscapes, geologic formations, weather phenomena, and extant organisms as the primary subject matter. This includes images taken with the subjects in controlled conditions, such as zoos, game farms, enclosures that make the subjects dependent on man for food, and botanical gardens. Accurate, brief, titles identifying the subject are required for nature photographs. Do not use cute titles as these may be marked down as a result. 2. Entry Fees: Entry fees can be paid by using a PayPal account or credit/debit card. All payments should be made in pounds Sterling. The organisers regret that entries for which no entry fee is received will not be judged or considered for the exhibition. 3. Judging: An entrant s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging in each category. In all cases, the judges decision is final. 4. Notification of results: Results will be sent via email by Thursday 4th September 2014. Entrants should ensure that they provide an active email address for this purpose. A full listing of selected images and photographers will also be posted on The Society s website at www.rps.org/screen2014 5. Damage/Loss: The responsibility for damage or loss of images, however caused, is the responsibility of the photographer. The Royal Photographic Society will not be responsible for any loss or damage, whether or not caused by negligence. 6. Acceptance of Rules: Submission of an entry will be taken as acceptance of the Entry Rules. An entry will be disqualified if The Society, PSA or FIAP believes it does not conform to these rules and conditions. Disqualifications will result in the complete entry being rejected and the entry fee being forfeited.
