après office A creative happy hour of sorts, our evening studio classes are designed to provide an introductory art experience in a relaxed social setting. Portraits of Each Other June 7 6pm - 7:30pm $20/person Plein Air Partners July 19 6pm - 7:30pm $20/person Postcards in Watercolor Painting August 9 6pm - 7:30pm $20/person Using charcoal and pastels, students will learn to draw portraits of each other. Learn the basics of landscape drawing outside. Paint a postcard with a simple approach to watercolor using shapes and gradients., inquiring minds Lasting anywhere from three to six hours, these one-day sessions allow participants to experiment with different materials and methods in either a classroom or open studio setting. All pricing includes materials unless otherwise noted. Starting with the Figure June 2, 23, July 28 August 11, 25 10am 1pm $15/per session (each date is a unique session) Students will share drawing techniques and skills in a community setting, while working with the model to communicate poses and complete timed sketches. After a three-hour break for firing, jewelry pieces will be ready for final touches. Fusion Glass* July 7 10am - 12pm $60 Ever wish you could edit something (or someone) out of an otherwise lovely photo? With Adobe Photoshop you can! In this introductory course, students will learn the basics of the Adobe Photoshop software to edit digital images. BYO zip drive and digital images. Figure 101 July 7 1pm 5pm $100 Make your own personalized pendant, bracelet, ring, or accessory. This workshop will focus on stamping, lettering, and metal impressions using a metal press. Learn about glass shaping tools, glass properties, and basic design concepts in this open studio session. Designed for beginners, students will draw a nude model and learn anatomy, proportions, and values. Must be at least 18 years of age. * Finished pieces will be available for pickup 12-14 days after the class.

This open studio session gives students the opportunity to carve, roll, and press while learning traditional block printing and creating a personalized stamp. The first step to becoming a graphic designer is learning Adobe InDesign. By the end of this class, students will be able to create a four-page brochure. BYO zip drive. Fashion & Function Small Metals August 18 1pm 4pm $100 Learn Adobe Illustrator @ Park City Library Digital Art August 26 10am 1pm Learn bending and curving techniques to form rings, pendants, bracelets, and other fashionable and functional pieces of metal. Take home your treasure after class. Used by both artists and graphic designers, Adobe Illustrator allows users to create illustrations, charts, graphs, logos, diagrams, cartoons, and more. By the end of this class, students will be able to create a vector image. Coiled Vases June 2, 3 1pm 4pm $160 Slip Transfers July 7, 8 1pm 4pm $160 Suncatcher Mosaics Glass July 14, 15 10am 1pm $180 Using the coil technique, students will build various symmetrical and asymmetrical forms to create a personalized vase, perfect for displaying summer flowers or as a stand-alone conversation piece. Add texture or design through transfer experimentation on simple forms such as tiles, plates, and straight-walled vases. Design an abstract composition and create a suncatcher from hand-cut glass. Gloves and protective eyewear are provided. This class is suitable for ages 16 and up. Oils Outside with Visiting Artist Nancy Paris Pruden Painting July 20, 21, 22 10am 4pm $350 + materials list Internationally renowned artist Nancy Paris Pruden visits from Houston for this plein air workshop. Open to all skill levels, the workshop begins in the studio at the Kimball Art Center, then moves to various outside locations. Students will learn about composition, color mixing, atmospheric perspective, edges, color temperatures, and values. Magical Mosaics with Visiting Artist Katherine England Glass July 25-27 5:30pm 8pm $215 Assembling small pieces of colored glass, stone, and other materials, students will learn how to design, choose color, form lines, and shape a decorative piece of art. Lidded Boxes July 28, 29 1pm 4pm $160 Learn how to make and decorate a slab-constructed box with lid. Students will create a charming and personalized box to store their jewelry, pencils, or other trinkets. * Finished pieces will be available for pickup 12-14 days after the class.

Metal Sculptures - Mondays Welding June 4, 11, 18, 25 5:30pm - 9pm August 6, 13, 20, 27 5:30pm - 9pm $380/per session (each four-day workshop a unique session) Learn metalworking and metal sculpture design over the course of four evenings. Students will use MIG welders, oxygen/acetylene torches, plasma cutters, grinders, shapers, and cut-off tools to bend, shape, or mold ideas into art. Wheel Throwing - Tuesdays June 5, 12, 19, 26 6pm 9pm August 7, 14, 21, 28 6pm 9pm $275/per session (each four-day workshop is a unique session) Learn how to make wheel-thrown pottery with step-by-step instruction on the wheel. This class will also cover trimming, handles, glazing, and the firing process. All skill levels welcome. Absolutely Abstract - Tuesdays Paintings June 12, 19, 26 1pm 3:30pm $135 + materials list Using shapes, color, edges, texture, value, and more to form abstract works of art, this class focuses on channeling creative energy and inspiration, then transferring onto canvas. Acrylic or Oils - Thursday Painting June 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12 July 26, August 2, 9, 16, 23 July 26, August 2, 9, 16, 23 1pm - 3pm $215 + materials list (each five-day workshop a unique session) Invest in your art while exploring brushes, markmaking, layering, color mixing, composition and learn how to create depth while finding your personal style. Using either acrylic or oils, students will become comfortable painting shapes, gesture, color, light, and shadow from photographs and still-life sets. Studio Sampler - Tuesdays July 3, 10, 17, 31 6pm 9pm $275 Learn wheel throwing, hand building techniques, glazing, and more in this ceramics sampler course. Students will leave with a better understanding of the ceramic medium and at least four pottery projects. Mold Making - Thursdays July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16 6pm 9pm $335 Over this six-week course, students will explore basic wood, clay, and plaster mold-making techniques. Animals in Art - Fridays and Painting July 13, 20, 27, August 10, 17, 24 10:30am - 1:30pm $280 + materials list Splitting time between the studio and field, students will paint or draw animals of all kinds. Animal photographs for reference are encouraged. By the Book - Wednesdays Bookbinding July 25, August 1, 8, 15 $200 Learn how to bind a high-quality journal using various techniques and materials in this book making course. Students can add a personal touch to the journals they create. Pastels & Watercolor - Tuesday and Painting July 31, August 7, 14, 21 $205 We supply pastels and watercolors, allowing students to explore these mediums before making a financial investment in the product. While the class is split into two sessions, with two classes devoted to pastel and two classes focusing on watercolor, students can work in one medium if desired. professional artist development For practicing artists, these drop-in weekly classes provide an opportunity to learn from other artists in a peer-to-peer setting. Students can expect to provide and receive thoughtful critiques of artwork. The Field Workshops June 11 6:30pm - 8:30pm August 13 6:30pm - 8:30pm $15/per session (each date is a unique session) Critique Night June 27 // Sketch Books 6pm - 8pm July 25 // Writing for the Artist 6pm - 8pm August 29 // Photographing Artwork 6pm - 8pm Free A peer-to-peer forum for artists to share work and exchange feedback, the fieldwork method reveals how each piece is perceived by others and fosters a detailed, efficient, and supportive exchange. Insightful and stimulating critiques are guided by an experienced facilitator. This monthly peer-to-peer critique is free and held on the last Wednesday of each month. Bring one to three pieces of original artwork (finished or in-progress) and receive constructive feedback from fellow artists. Discussions will revolve around conceptual thinking and specific media practices. Come prepared with questions for feedback. private instructions Private lessons are available in a wide variety of visual art media for kids, teens, and adults. Classes can be arranged for individuals, couples, or a small group of no more than four students. Instructors will customize lessons to meet your goals. Rates vary by instructor, selected medium, and class size. custom classes & corporate offerings From bridal showers to company retreats, Kimball Art Center offers a number of creative group activities for team building, client recognition, or celebrating a special occasion with a group of friends. At the Kimball Art Center, all classes and workshops are taught by professional, practicing artists with teaching experience and a personal investment in art education. Curriculum is carefully crafted to inspire, educate, and foster an appreciation for visual art.
