RIZ-Transmitters Co. has recognized importance of revitalization in AM broadcasting below 30MHz (Long Wave, Medium Wave and Short Wave) and joined DRM organization with intention to support and implement all up to now determined DRM System Specifications There is a global trend towards the adoption of digital technology in radio and communications, because of many substantial advantages to national and international broadcasters and info casters. DRM uses existing frequencies and bandwidth and provides near-fm quality sound and excellent reception. Problems with fading, noise and interference belong now to the past. Implementing different digital code protections, coverage area is significantly increased. Additionally, DRM offers other advantages. It can integrate audio with data and text, so additional content can be transmitted. Also, up to four (4) audio channels can be transmitted over one existing frequency channel RIZ DRM Compact Solution results from hard engineering, offering sophisticated features and flexibilities that make it unique and useful for every broadcaster. It can be used with any RIZ DRM SW, MW or MW Transmitter, or with many existing transmitters which can be easily modified to carry DRM signals. PC CONTENT SERVER RIZ DRM Content Server is designed in compliance with ETSI TS 201 980 v1.2.1. (2002-05) DRM system specification. It convert input analog or digital (AES/EBU, S/PDIF) audio signals into DRM multiplex in real time and makes it ready for further processing. Signal processing is based on symmetric multiprocessor system with two 2.4 GHz Intel XEON and Windows 2000 OS. Independent watchdog circuits insure reliable operation and high uptime All configuration parameters can be selected and managed by mouse-click on the dedicated window, like in standard windows applications. Content server functions: Audio source encoding (AAC, AAC+SBR, HVXC, CELP) FAC and SDC generation Configuration of the multiplexer with up to four main services Complete frequency domain symbol/cell generation Communication interface between distribution centrums and transmitter (long distance control, by IP connection) PC Content Server supports the following DRM features: RIZ DRM Content Server Software Architecture Schematic Nominal Bandwidth (9/10kHz) Half Bandwidth (4.5/5kHz) Double Bandwidth ( 18/20kHz) 64QAM MSC, all Code Rates 16QAM MSC, all Code Rates 16QAM SDC 4QAM SDC Standard Modulation Hierarchical Modulation Equal Error Protection Unequal Error Protection Long/Short Interleaving Service reconfiguration Channel reconfiguration RIZ DRM Audio Content Server Audio and Source Coding Subsystem Audio IO Core Winsock Connectivity Subsystem DRM Encoding Subsystem Serial IO Core Audio Hardware RIZ DRM Core Windows API Layer WIndows API (HAL) s and OS layer Network Interface Hardware IO Hardware Network Interface Hardware Remote Control Application Windows OS Remote Control Layer to Application Windows Hardware OS RIZ DRM Layer to Layer Remote Control Windows Remote Hardware OS Layer to Monitoring Layer Remote Hardware Application Monitoring Layer RIZ DRM Application Remote Monitoring Multiple Remote Users Audio Source Analog or Digital Up to maximum of 4 stereo audio sources Audio Hardware Winsock Connectivity Subsystem RIZ DRM GUI IO Hardware Synthesizer Control Link DRM Stream Link RIZ DRM RF Digital Synthesizer DDS 1030 DRM Local, On Site, User 3

RF Digital Synthesizer DDS 1030 DRM RF Digital Synthesizer, Type RIZ DDS 1030 DRM is primary intended as an exciter for all AM radio broadcasting transmitters in DRM, DSB and SSB mode of operation respectively, within frequency rage 10kHz to 30MHz. It utilizes DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) providing outstanding spectral and operational performances. RF output is generated directly by 14-bit digital to analogue converter. High frequency stability and extremely low phase noise resulted from its internal frequency reference OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) and optional external GPS reference. RF Digital Synthesizer, RIZ DDS 1030 DRM, is equipped with RS 422, RS 485, CAN remote control interfaces and is fully digitally controlled over RS 422 and RS 485, control port. In DRM mode of operation synthesizer processing OFDM input constellation. Transition from frequency to time domain is achieved by 32 bit Sharc DSP. RIZ DDS 1030 DRM, offers flexibility with digital input base band complex I/Q signals, high-speed direct-digital synthesizer, high-performance 14 bit digital to analogue converter (DAC), digital filters and other DSP functions. The large graphical display on the front panel gives complete on-line information about DRM signal parameters. In case remote mode is disabled, the keyboard on front panel allows quick manual parameter setting. FEATURES: Frequency range 10kHz to 30MHz DDS ( Direct Digital Synthesis) Extensive remote control facilities Outstanding spectral and operational performances 6

PRE-CORRECTION RECEIVER Receiver takes transmitters RF output sample signal, down-convert it to MF (12 khz) in order to get spectrum suitable for digital processing of OFDM signal on PC. Output sample signal is processed and compared to input signal in order to obtain pre-correction curve. Pre correction receiver cares also about tuning the delay compensation between amplitude and phase component of DRM signal through transmitters RF and AF stages. GPS REFERENCE In SFN mode external GPS reference ensures a very high frequency stability and extremely low phase noise. RIZ - TRANSMITTERS Co., BoæidareviÊeva 13, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia P.O.
