From August 2009 to August 2010, Stephanie served as the Third Circuit Representative to the ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which evaluates candidates for the federal judiciary at the U.S. District, U.S. Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court levels. During her tenure, a significant number of prospective nominees were vetted along with two Supreme Court justices. The Committee works closely with the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Justice Department and the White House. In 2009, Stephanie was appointed and served on the Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Distinguished Jurist Award Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, which recognizes a jurist who adheres to the highest ideals of judicial service. She also previously served as Chair of the Committee. In October 2008, Stephanie was appointed to serve on Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter s Advisory Task Force on Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform, which in December 2009 issued a comprehensive report and recommendations to the Mayor and to the President of City Council of the City of Philadelphia. For more than 25 years, Stephanie has been extensively involved in numerous leadership positions in the Philadelphia Bar Association, including as Chair of the Association's Board of Governors (2008-2009); as Chair of the Federal Courts Committee, the liaison between the federal bench and its practitioners (2004); and as Chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention (Judicial Commission) (1997). In 2007, Stephanie served as Co-Chair of the Friends Committee of the National Association of Women Judges. In 2005, Stephanie was appointed a member of the Merit Selection Panel to consider reappointment of U.S. magistrate judges. In 1996, Stephanie was appointed Trustee of the Campaign for Qualified Judges and was also appointed by the then President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas to the Task Force on Gender Fairness in the Courts. Stephanie also served as Co-Chair of the Women's Rights Committee and as a member of the Professional Responsibility, Professional Guidance and Fee Disputes Committees.
